What were the mass arial attacks of cities then? Acts of war upon civilians or acts of terror?
Not sure which ones you are talking about here.
It has been interesting to me to watch how for instance in WWII Germany bombed cities - and yet we call it war. With the advent of the Geneva convention we learned to draw clearer distinctions between the two - Wars are fought between soldiers and anything else is taboo. I don't personally see it as black and white because I am not as "civil" (I am just a lowly beast so gimme a break). It seems that if wars are to be fought between nations then nations are battling not just the military forces from each. It's a huge oxymoron to fight a civilzed war, isn't it?
Now take a nation under Sadam. If Sadam could have taken out a million Amaerican civilians I think he would not have hesitated to do so. But when the US takes the war to Iraq, we have had to fight a "civilized" war. The "civilized" war (CW) cost us much more than a plain ugly old fashioned war because we used smart bombs that were intent on hitting only military targets. (true there were civilians hit but one might easily make the case that this is one of the most "civil" wars ever fought). I am not justifying the cause of the war or if the US should have been there etc I am just looking at the manner in which the war was fought.
So some would argue that it is ironic that we spend all these dollars on a CW using smart bombs when our enemy would likely never have done the same to the US if they could have gotten the upper hand. In speaking with some fellow Americans they would advocate that we use the cheapest dirtiest, biggest bombs possible. For instance, why not nuke your enemy rather than fight a smart bomb war? It is cheaper and no soldiers from your side need set foot on the battle field. Afterall the life of our kids is worth more than the life of some silly Iraqi isn't it? (note intended sarcasm before you beat poor ole Donkey again).

It's the same with the Palestinians. Prior to 1948 they had a country - but the Jews went in a took it over (backed by GB and the USA under the UN
Ok, so the US and UK don't work under the UN in Iraq and they are in crapola.
But when the UN does things (it doesn't do very many things well - IMO it's a joke) then we still want to blame the US and UK?
No wonder GW don't listen to y'all!!

Wars are fought between soldiers, terrorists attack random targets - mostly civilian. I have been amazed how many times I have seen this question asked on the board.
the terrorists won a great victory in spain.
mind you, i'm all for the democratic process...it's great...and had the spanish decided to part ways with the us of it's own volition, great!...however, the socialists were project to not win a majority in this weekends election...that is until the terrorist attack.
now, with the socialist coming into power...and the promise to both withdraw the 1300 spanish soldiers from iraq and to part ways with the us on foriegn policy we can look for more such attacks in other countries.
Of course Spain still hypocritically occupies parts of North Africa...but shhhh be vewy vewy qwuiet!!!

The questions I ask of myself: Doesn't Israel deserve a homeland? On the other hand, the land was taken from the Palestinians and they had no say in the matter ...
yeah look how well this UN solution panned out?
israel has long been able to arrest or kill the leader of hamas, why now?
especially with the u.s. being at this time more politically cripled and hated in the middle east than ever?
the u.s. has little good will in the middle east to help broker a peace or to politically come to the defense of israel.
The reason why is fairly simple if you think about it for a minute.
Israel has seen the reaction to Spain's withdrawal of support in Iraq and this comes right after the terrist bombings there and half the world (possibly even the terrorists) are claiming Spain withdrew because of terrorist pressure.
Now put yourself in Sharon's shoes. Israel is about to vacate the Gaza Strip. The message Israel wants to leave firmly in the mind of the PLO and others is that Israel is withdrawing on Israeli terms and no one else's pressures have anything to do with the decision. This way Hamas cannot claim a "victory" when Israel withdraws. Furthermore, killing Yassin is also a "freebie" now. Once Israel withdraws this will quickly be forgotten and they are up against one less capable motivator/planner in Hamas.
But then what does an Ass know?
on several earlier threads i posted scriptures showing that jesus christ is now a man, and is not an angel:
o give thanks to the lord of lords: for his mercy endureth for ever.
(note: this must be the lord alone see isaiah 44:24)
Jahava is a load of bull.
today, i died three weeks shy of my 33rd birthday.
my death was not accidental.
in fact, you could argue that i was executed.
