For the CO a "fade" is inpossible and I cant see many taking a leaf from LTs book and giving a Public Talk and concluding with an announcement of their quitting...yes they are trapped and many are or were decent people inside the shells they have become - which reminds me of my London Bethel visit's - watching married couple going to and fro from Watchtower House to the IBSA Bbuilding, clutching each others hands, with every ounce of spirit crushed from them leaving them like husks on the ground, clinging on to their only link to life - their marriage partner. No hope, no future, no way out Re David Craig - his wife was very kind but needed to go back home every weekend as she was very timid/shy/under stress , and they requested a "posting" near home when it came time to reassign the Circuit Overseer's, but when sent up to Scotland their was a view taken around that the Society had ignored any sense of caring and in effect were saying to them "it will make you or kill you - and we don't care which it is" - David Carter was (I think) then the DO (departed this life now) and he appeared to be ruthless in dealing with COs - he was with us as elders - I recall not having the courage to get up and walk out at one circuit elders meeting when he said words to the effect that " If as elders you are worn out then you are not doing enough as Jehovah would refresh you if you were, if you want to quit get out! Jehovah only wants servants who give 100% so if you can't then you should not be an elder" and, after refusing to back-up some wild claim for authority made by one brave soul he said "WE (DOs and COs) are told directly by the GB what to do at elders meetings and I am not going to show anyone a letter they send to me personally to prove it - if you believe in the Bible you must believe what I say!" - again, I look back and wish I had risen from my seat and left.

Actually from Merseyside they were sent to a Scottish Circuit with no circuit flat and a lot of travelling - so at some point he called it a day - I think because he was ill - and they then went to his wifes parents part of the world in the Potteries
Seem to remember he always used a propelling pencil for his note taking - very precise
Yes his talks were brilliant - very logical

David Craig was on Merseyside but moved on back to Stoke - where I think his wife came from - think she was ill and wanted to be back near family - he was very astute - think before Merseyside he was in Bradford - very practical and genuine, but loyal to the "written word" from the hierarchy - overall a decent person sadly trapped in a way of life that did not suit him or his wife

Elder has Power of Attny for my Mother
by limbogirl inmy witness mother has a rare form of leukemia -- fortunately she is doing well and it hasn't been an issue yet.
she notified me some time ago that she had completed forms to make one of the elders at her kh her power of attorney in the event that she required medical treatment.
she told me that she did this to relieve me and my siblings of having to make difficult decisions for her at that time -- meaning authorizing blood.

2) What is a Durable Power of Attorney?
In the UK this is known as an Enduring Power of Attorney - that is it remains in force if you become mentally ill, incapacitated or unable to manage your own affairs. However if any of these do apply then the Power of Attorney needs to be registered with the Court of Protection
A PoA (of any kind) in the UK would not grant any person healthcare representation rights - the documents and the powers associated are all business related / property/ monies/ shares or other affairs of a business nature - you can limit the extent of the power by writing some details on the forms - these can be readily downloaded from the net and no costs should be involved in preparing them here in the UK
Any "Attorney" that is a person holding any kind of PoA has to keep account of the use of the Power and be able to justify their transactions as being exactly what the donor (the person granting the power) would want
When no spouse is involved, It is best in the UK if 2 persons are named as donors - assigning them to act "jointly and severally" - meaning they both have to sign cheques/documents etc
I would suggest that nearly all husbands and wives have these set up - so that the husband is the attorney for the wifes affairs and vice vera - so many times I see people in the office who are suddenly trapped with no access to husbands/wifes funds because of illness/or other calamity and the accounts being in sole names - with the money laundering requirements and avoidance of crime legislation Banks are not willing to help if Mrs X needs cash for food if her husband is taken gravely ill and cannot sign a cheque/draw cash - a person with an EPA would be able to cope a bit easier in these circumstances and could readily have access to funds etc

Did the elders ask for sexual details at your Judicial meeting?
by kid-A in.
i personally know of two cases where the witness being disfellowshipped was asked to provide excruciating details about the exact nature of the "sex crime" that they had committed.. having read the secret elders manual "pay attention to yourselves and all the flock" i know this is standard operating procedure for a judicial hearing.
for those that were disfellowshipped for a "sex crime"

As an elder I sat on many jc's, other than asking if it happened more than once I don't remembering embarrasing anybody and as p.o. I would not tolerate it.
Yes - like ferret I was Po for decades and like minimus was involved in numerous JCs - never needed to ask questions after clear confession - however in one case - sister insisted she had committed fornication with a man - told us sex had occurred - however - on some general questioning it became apparent that the poor girl had been the victim of a sexual attack but because of WT literature thought she was guilty - so confessed to fornication - we took no action and assured her she had done no wrong. In the cong I was in some would try to seek salacious detail but as far as possible I never arranged for them to serve on JCs as it was easy to get elders to agree to appointments to JCs with no discussion. Poor people in front of a JC were viewed by me and others with me as in need of help - not humiliation - however I can agree with the general view here of disgraceful conduct by elders - equal to sexual abuse - in their questioning.

Do you feel 'Disconnected' since leaving the borg?
by AK - Jeff ini mean - many of us had a history that was exclusively in the 'truth'.
nothing else.. now having left, do you long for a discussion with some who share your past culture, understandings, and lifestyle?.
is that the 'appeal' of this board to many?

As witnesses we were told that our true friends were among JW's and that people out in the world including worldly family were only associates. Only JW's loved us.
Yes...leave and you lose it all, friewnds, family, hope, all gone - time does reduce the scar but still your history is full of the lost /wasted WT years - - people who are made Redundant from their jobs feel lost/confused/bereaved - just like that but more intense when you leave the WT
Hopes, Goals, Ambitions. Prospects - all gone never to return - wasted years, wasted lives - make the most of the time OUT and work in any way whatever to release others earleir than we were set free

1975 - UK 30 Year Rule
by core in.
under the "30 year rule" secret government documents from 1975 have just been released to public view.. much of interest in the documents ....what a pity the wtbts will not be releasing any of its secret papers from that very interesting year!.
we can read the minutes of all british cabinet meetings, state papers etc but will never get to know the inner workings at nyc - why is that.........anything to hide maybe?

Well, the 30 year disclosure rule would only apply to governments.
..true of course, actually the UK Government in the instance I mention...however...is not the WTS a "Government"
..the news item referred to Harold Wilsons cabinet making arrangements for continuing to govern in the event of a Russian Nuclear Strike, which was considered a real possibility, they even recorded the News Announcement ready for such an event...the BBC was to be closed with a single radion (no TV) station - the War Radio Service - telling citizens not to try and escape as there was nowhere to go! (of course as the country would burnt to a crisp)
..actually I posted this as an attempt at light hearted humour with a cynical view of those times and the 1975 frenzy of the WTS, and am surprised at the comments by JWDs best humorist which might indicate he thought this was (or I thought it was) a real possibility - no I know from experience that the FOI Act/ 30 year rule nor even common sense or Christian principle will drag anything out of the dark tower - more like a black hole than a lighthouse.
..from that era the WTS is erasing all literature, and from what I have seen is convincing many that it was all just a minor storm in a teacup which WE brought on ourselves, yes...the old publications are not available - not used - simply removed, much as the fabled room 1975 vanished in running mans superb assembly hotel story......
..30 years on and counting
