John Blaney = old timer now long gone
He was in the days when COs moved every week to new accomodation but if he liked it in the cong he was at he tried to stay put - he used to get sisters to iron his copy of the Daily Telegraph every day.
He had a huge tie collection from admiring sisters - Pioneers mtg the was Tuesday aftyernoon so with John the meeting involved just unloading his old van of all his possessions into his new accom for the week - he had enough stuff to fill the Albert Hall - old gramophones, typewriters, tables etc. Used to claim that in the War he got onto trains and passed checkpoints by proclaiming that "stand aside....I am on urgent business for the King"
His overcoat had more poachers pockets than a Dingle in Emmerdale and he always had 10 or so books in there - his favorite being the Babylon book
Took him on a Back Call or Return Visit as now and the householder was not interested and quite curt - closed door - John went round the back and hammered on the kitchen door
mad as a hatter but very popular
could write a book of JB stories
Buckingham - Ted & Jim - Ted was a DO then went into Bethel - Jim was in Bethel (purchasing?) - Ted in writing dept.

Re Darrell Elgey - no - not aware of anything but somehow he just vanished from the radar and does not seem to be known anywhere - think he was suffering from awareness of things but also aware he was powerless to change them
Re Designer CO Seidler - yes - amazing how so many in the CO ranks gravitate towards houses with 5 bedrooms, large cars, holiday homes etc - and then by pure coincidence these same wealthy ones appear at the CAssy & DAssy assigned parts or responsibilities - Mike Seidler used to suggest "owning a block of flats" to pioneers as an employment opportunity!
Wilf Gregory (deceased) small man who would wait several minutes for quiet before starting at talk at the Circ Assy - small man syndrome though on a personal level a decent man -

Re Above:
David Sibrey has been in Bethel for years now - Writing Dept in London (think hes in charge)
David Craigs wife was Ginette
Darrell Elgey ( from Yorkshire) whatever happened to him
Mike & Dodie Seidler - he had a youth cult - replaced long timers with his favored pioneers (most of whom fell by the way) - anyone over 40 was past it - he missed an entire generation in Circuit Appointments as he always replaced very old with brand new. He destroyed an entire circuit single handedly by this tactic. However, if he had not done so, his delightful wife would have as she was on her own as far as patronising goes.
Recall Mike Reed was at ours for lunch once - after he watched TV News and commented (over some issue in Africa) " they really are not fit to rule themselves." Aftewr eating our meal the very next day at the DV he ignored us (passed us in a corridor at 2 feet distance - saw us and ignored us) as he busied himself with being in charge
Also now in Bethel after years as a CO - Ian Turvill & his wife
Paul Presland (and another can't recall name) had been DOs but served every District in branch and expected at the next reshuffle to be demoted and after being told they were to also help with the MTS Schools they knew they would be demoted as this was as Paul Presland said "a little sugar to sweeten the pill" -

Little Toe Re David Craig - seem to recall his wife had parents in the Stoke on Trent area and that he and wife owned a flat there (?) - do remember that wherever they were they would dash off to Stoke on Sundays thru till the Tuesday - also recall vividly his astonishment at his posting to a Scottish Circuit when he had specifically asked (and visited Bethel to do so) to be near family (Stoke) - he was of the opinion that "someone" ((methinks Ron Drage but who knows)) decided that he should be shown who decided where COs went and not to ask again - the first Scottish circuit was probably yours as recall (vaguely) that they were off to a "travelling" circuit with no flat. He was a decent guy who tried and fought against the flowing tide
Colin Bird - whatever happened to him - whatever it was it was too good -

Help me with my Last Will and Testament
by Fatfreek ini'm not getting any younger and i'm trying to come up with some statements before i take it to my lawyer.
snip,snip .
i bequeath to the following beneficiaries proceeds which shall be extracted from my remaining assets, with a certain stipulation, as follows:.

Here in the UK such stipulations would not be accepted in Court as the view would be that they are unreasonable and would be ovetrturned with the cash amounts to be distributed regardless of this condition/requirement- pity as its such a good idea to copy

Abuse of elder position and platform
by KAYTEE inthe craziest statement (not lies not incorrect application of scripture) just total abuse of elder position and misuse of platform.
an elder when on the platform(or as some might say the stage after all the majority are actors made a statement to the congregation because his wife was a bit sickly asked the bro/sisters to arrange a rota to make his dinners.my thinking was if he can't feed himself how can he feed the flock.visiting brothers could not beleive what they heard they thought he was joking.. i can asure you this elder wasn't noted for his humour.. kt.

Could be worse - he could have asked for a rota to fulfill his partners "wifely due" on a nightly basis - no takers for that one for sure

Please excuse me whilst I vomit - what fantastists these people are - how would they know what a tract looked like? more sugar on the emotional blackmail pill - "and be sure to turn in your contributions so we can continue to support our brothers in etc etc"
In a police state environment groups of unsmiling weirdos following a foreigner must be the basis for a film "Valley of the Dolls" or maybe "Village of the Damned" would make a really weird horror moview (but then the WT is a real life horror movie) -

All Those Creepy Files
by choosing life inhave you ever thought of all those creepy files that the elders keep on wrongdoing?
how strange to have your sins written down and kept in a file somewhere.
do they ever dispose of them?
-
core
Re elders taking notes at a JC meeting - this was expressly banned by the WT some years ago but doubtless old habits die hard - any person in front of a JC seeing an elder taking notes should challenge them and ask why, and on whose authority they are taking notes as you know for certain that the Governing Body has issued instructions that NO notes be take - you of course are free as a bird to take any notes you wish and it would be most disconcerting for the elders if you did so, clearly noting their names against comments they make....

As far as I know in the UK you can request to see copies of files held which contain Personal Identifiable Data, but the law does not allow you to have the originals destroyed or "returned" to you (they were never originally your property so cannot be "returned)
The Law sets timelimits for the organisation to respond to you - the WT sent a letter to UK congs telling them to clear all such requests withe the Branch Office before writing back to you.
In later years all JC files were sent destroyed or sent to the Branch and elders and congs told to keep NO records either personally or as a cong - only record would be a card showing name and scriptural reason given for and DF action
What a cong would have would be old Puclisher Record Cards showing name / address and your service hours
