Thanks for your post, Derrick (hey, we have the same first name).
My question to you is can YOU prove from the bible that all these things will exist that you just mentioned. The one scripture that you quoted has nothing to do with a paradise earth, or man's perfection. The apostle Paul said to be ready to stand and make a defence for what you believe. Time to stand and deliver. I look forward to hearing your defence.
i was at the meeting on sunday and one brother mentioned how jws are heeding the scripture at matthew 24:14, you know, about the kingdom being preached, and he said how in every corner of the world jws are now found and it's a fulfillment of the scripture.
then the thought struck me that if that were true, then when people think of jws they should think "god's kingdom".
not in my experience, as when going from door to door or what colleagues at work have said.
I don't know what the general populace thinks. Some like us, some don't. But as for this "preaching the kingdom", I don't think I ever preached the kingdom when I went from house to house. Usually it was "Would you like our magazines?" Funny how nobody told me that was wrong.
i am curious about the history of the watchtower.
if everyone hates them so bad when they leave, do you know if they ever attempted to exact a temporal revenge for spiritual hurts?.
czar
The problem with initiating violence, though, is that enevitably the innocent ones also get hurt along with the guilty ones. 1 year ago, I would still have been a blinded JW. I hate to think what would have happened if I got taken out by a bomb or something like that. I wouldn't be here today, now that I have woken up. Do we really have the right to decide who is guilty, and who will be saved? It's better not to get involved with any violent action, especially since the police would undoubtably get involved, and prosecution would befall anyone who started the violence.
i'm sure this subject must have been covered on this forum before, but i'm still kind of new around here and haven't found any threads on it.
so, my appologies in advance.
it has been brought to my attention that charles russell had ties to the masonic lodge, and was involved with other forms of spiritistic practices, other than just the "pyramid" thing.
No, Sangdigger, I didn't know that. I'll go look for that. Thanks

Thanks Buster.
Actually, what I was looking for was someone who may have old watchtower articles (Pre 1914) where he may have said things that would pertain to a spiritistic nature. I've been told that he had given talks where he admitted to Masonic ties and thought that there might be evidence written by his hand that could prove this, if it is true to begin with in the first place.
My point being that how could god bless an individual that was actively involved with spirits?
Thanks

What I am looking for is hard evidence, or areas I can go to to find hard evidence of this. Can anyone help me. Thanks.
PS: Time periods would be helpful to.

the other night i was upset and decided to pray to god.
i was outside looking at the stars and wondering if i was talking to myself or if he is really out there somewhere.. as i prayed i didnt know who to address, i have said jehovah, jesus, father, who ever is out there please hear me.
i don' t mean to be disrespectful in saying it that way , but just confused.. many of you know we havent been to a meeting in over a year .
Well, I don't know if anyone is reading this thread anymore, but I thought it interesting that when Jesus' disciples asked him how they should pray, Jesus started his prayer addressing him as "Our Father." Since he, as Jesus said, is "Our Father", would it not make sense to address him as such in our prayers?
i recently subscribed to the wall street journal online.
i found an editorial written by a senior editor, who was a jw!!.
article 2 of 14 .
Quote from the article:
"Our two guiding principles are that we would love Jehovah our God with our whole mind, heart and soul, and that we would love our neighbors as we do ourselves. It is that love that compels us to engage in our ministry."
Take away the reporting of time, the clapping when one becomes a pioneer, the mandatory hours required to become an elder, etc. and see how many are still willing to go out in service simply because they say that they love their neighbors.
