  Always Comparing us to Others

  the bible says that we shouldn't compare ourselves with other people either physically or spiritually.

  some would produce 5 to 1, and others 2 to 1. .

  but why is it that the elders always tried to compare us to other witnesses?

  The bible says that we shouldn't compare ourselves with other people either physically or spiritually. Some would produce 5 to 1, and others 2 to 1.

  But why is it that the elders always tried to compare us to other witnesses? If we made less than 10 hours of service in a month, they would say that we were below the average. So we were compared with the average witness.

  Every time I had an excuse for something, they would compare me with a person in the congregation with a handicap, just to put me down. For example, if I said I didn't go out in the field service because it was too cold, they would find an example of an old person in the 80's who went out in the serice that particular day. If I said, my car was broken and I couldn't get to the book study, they would say, sister or brother x walks every week to the book study and he lives 2 miles away.

  Did you often feel as if you didn't do enough because the elders compared you to someone else?

  Did you throw your meeting clothes out?

  just been clearing some space in my house and deciding what to get rid of.i have a whole rack of "meeting clothes" shirts , suits ties etc that i have never worn since i left.i kept a few shirts and a couple of suits just in case i need them sometime.what a load of money those clothes most have cost me.one extra good reason for leaving, and think of all those dry cleaning bills you'll miss as well.bad luck if you work in an office.

  let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another-- and all the more as you see the day approaching.

  Maybe it means that we should always be on this site and encourage one another, because of what the Watchtower did to us.

  The way the watchtower taught us, 99% will come back to life, but the sad part is that 99.9% will not live to see it, because of Armageddon

  have you noticed how certain trends in the congregation are often started by one person, and then it spreads to most of the congregation.

  for example, in my congregation years ago, just about everyone had a dodge airies.

  that was an inexpensive popular car in the service then.

  Have you noticed how certain trends in the congregation are often started by one person, and then it spreads to most of the congregation. For example, in my congregation years ago, just about everyone had a Dodge Airies. That was an inexpensive popular car in the service then. Then after that an influential elder had a VolksWagen Jetta, and then everybody bought a Jetta. If pioneering was popular, then many pioneered. Most witnesses lived in appartments, but then one bought a house, then two, three, and now most of the congregation are house owners.

  What "Monkey See Monkey Do", did you notice in your congregation?
