What Do You Expect From People?

do you think that you expect too much from people?

We can't expect much from strangers, but we can expect more from friends. And we should expect alot more from Brothers. I expected brothers to act like brothers, when I was expecting their help. Nothing came. So now I know that the word Brother, means nothing at all. Yes I did expect alot from people called brothers, but now I know better. People in general are selfish, and don't help .But to answer your question, "what do you expect from people". I would say that, I expect them to be as good to me as I always was towards them.

Just Had My Elder Visit

i just got through talking to a couple of elders, they both had moved here from other places, one from fla and one from wis. i can't remember their names.

they said the society had instructed them to call on all inactive ones.. they were nice to me, but had the same old answers that i used to present.

i brought up a lot of things for them to think about, but their minds have been carefully programed so it didn't register.

Who needed Psychological help?

did you ever need psychological help when you were in the "truth", or maybe after you left?

would you say that people who come here on this site are in need of psychological help, since they can't seem to get over their bad experience as a jehovah witness?

Thanks for asking. No, I never went to see a psychologist. I don't feel as if a person out of the organization can understand what we all went through. I always went through tough times by myself. I get lots of relief just by being here and listening to others. My parents who never were dubs, do think that I talk about them too much. They would wish that I forget about the whole ordeal with the witnesses. Thats why I asked "Since we are here talking about this every day, do we need psychological help" My question was just to see if you think it is normal to constantly talk about what we hate. I hate the witnesses because they never showed any true love for me, when I needed their help. When I joined the org in the 80's I had a good job and I was generous with them in many ways. I must have gave over 10,000$ in money and goods to brothers in need. I NEVER GAVE MONEY TO THE ORG, BECAUSE THEY HAD MORE THAN ME. So when I lost my nice paying job in 1992, I fell on welfare, and no one in the congregation ever helped me find a job and never asked if I was allright. You see, my parents are well off financially, so they expected them to help me. But my parents never were dubs. I expected the witnesses to care about my situation. I was told that they would give their lives for a brother, if ever the situation occured. So naturally, I expected a bit of help from them. When that never came, I saw their real colors. I also saw sick brothers and sisters in hospitals, and they hardly went to see them. So now I have a burning hate for their double talk. I just like to tell everyone who they really are, whenever the occasion presents itself.

Damn Holidays !

every time a holiday happens to be in the middle of the week, i get mixed up, and wonder what day we are.

this morning, i had the impression it was saturday.

good thing i had my watch to tell me it was tuesday.

I think that accepting a study from them, is like puting them back in the driver's seat. Accepting a study is like admitting that we are weak and need more programming. We are not weak, we found the truth and we are hurt.

Once they found out I was sick, it was like they were a pack of wolves that was turning on an injured member

It seems as if they cannot accept that a member of Jehovah's organization might fall sick or be discouraged. The happiest people in the world are not aloud to be sick!

Hawaii update, Princess style

i've read a couple of mulan's updates, thought i'd add my own.

she and dad went to mcdonald's so i'm playing with her 'puter.. today is gorgeous, not a cloud in the sky and the forcast is for the same through saturday.

we've had some wind and rain but it's pretty easy to find the sun.

Did they ask you if you wanted to go back to the hall, or did they just ask if they could come back? I would have said, "Why do you want to come back, you're already here", so talk.

Did you ever get anyone baptized?

with all the door to door work, actually finding someone to study with was difficult enough, and then to actually bring them to the point of baptizm, that seemed nearly impossible.

but it has happened.

did you ever achieve that?

No, I never got anyone baptized. I even had a hard time getting people to listen to me door to door. I was not the type to twist a person's arm to study. I offered books magazines, even a bible study to many but It had to come from them. Other brothers/sisters were more like salesmen trying hard to sell a bible study. I never believed in forcing someone to accept my point of view. I guess the watchtower failed with me.
