I saw a trolley (cart to you cousins in the U.S.A.)
by punkofnice inyes.. peterborough city center u.k. ''what does the bible really teach'' displayed on it.. a family of 3 i know were sitting on the bench just behind it.
i'm not going to say anything derogatory about them as they are nice folks even if they have to shun me now i bear no malice.. as predicted not a single person was paying any attention as they walked by.
i noticed some other canvassers (non religious), were actively approaching people and handing out leaflets.. on the market i saw the jw charity stall and again not a single soul was interested or even near it.. i'm glad this 'urgent never to be repeated work(tm)' is being vigorously carried out by god's chosen people.

This week's WT study...made me so sick.....
by stuckinarut2 inthis week's study april 15th 2014 was called "do you see the one who is invisible?".
it was perhaps one of the most depressing, controlling, fear-mongering, stress inducing, doctrinally incorrect, hate-inspiring, judgemental, cult-like, irrational, hyped-up, critical, crazy, stretched out, fanciful, illogical, burdensome, inflated, coersive, manipulative, and brain-snappingly weird stuff i have read for some time.... (but i'm sure it was just a rehash and repeat of previous stuff...for the new masses....).
i had to keep up a sane appearance while in the hall, and even answer some garbage while this was being 'studied'... my cognitive disonance must be so strong now, because i found this one of the hardest ones to endure....now that i am home, i have poured a stiff drink and am trying to clear my head...... one paragraph was classic:.

If you foretell persecution long enough you eventually get impatient. And, then you start to create it by your ever more crazy actions.
So, you must do whatever the GB say no matter how foolish it looks from a human standpoint.
Maybe create a compound like the GB did in upstate New York?
Isn't this a known precursor to violence? Think Manson, Ruby Ridge, Waco.

American Rantings About World Cup Soccer (Football)
by RubaDub ini try ... i really try to watch football (soccer) ... it's world cup time ... i really do try.. i just don't get it ... i really don't.. yes, it's a world-wide sport.
in most countries it is the number 1 or number 2 sport ... no doubt about it.
it's maybe number 5 in the usa for professional sports.. from an american's perspective (i think i speak for many), we just wonder if these guys actually have testicles.

Funny...went to a professional baseball game tonight and there was so much downtime that we had an entire conversation about... the World Cup.

I swear by running a fan for a little bit of background white noise. Bonus in hot weather.
Benadryl works well for me, though it wears off in about 4 hours and you might have to take another one.
Start calming your brain down an hour or two before bedtime. No JWN, no balancing the checkbook, no computer because the light can stimulate your brain. Try a nice hot shower or bath and some neutral reading material. I like catalogs. A good book of fiction would work, too.
I have tried melatonin and it didn't work for me, but it is natural, so it couldn't hurt to try.

Being a JW Used to Be Fun :-)
by snowbird inwe found some people who were happy to welcome us into their homes, even offering us food and drink.. sometimes, they would flag us down and ask for the magazines, walk miles to the kh meetings, come to our defense if someone got ugly or rude.. now, jw's are either routinely ignored or outright vilified.. no one respects them anymore.. sad.. .

I was there, too! The cheese danishes were the best. The good thing about the Capital center was that it was enclosed and airconditioned. And had the big jumbotrons.

Emotional outbursts are the polar opposite of rational. Don't try to have a conversation about money while she's hysterical. She's been indoctrinated for 3 days straight. Let her calm herself down. Then you can decide how to approach the money and work discussion.
Extremely emotional people need to be thought about as if they are toddlers. When they're having a tantrum, you just need to get out of their way until they exhaust themselves. When they wear themselves out, you'll be dealing with a whole different beast.

True Stories from the Tower - Part 1 "From Anointed to Pedophile to Bethelite"
by BluePill2 inbefore i dive into the actual write-up of this experience, let me put some things straight.. i have thought long and hard if i should write more about my experiences during the 10+ years at different branches.
during these years i worked from financial department, service department, home office and different it assignments.
as you can imagine one sees and hears and reads a lot of stuff going through different stations in different countries.

Exactly, Apognophos. I've always thought that religion attracts people who need the external control to keep themselves in line. These would be people who have especially bad tendencies.
This is why, in general, I don't trust religious people.

Are Christians more or less likely to be in favour of stronger gun control than atheists?
by Seraphim23 ini have no agenda with this post, if anything i am suspecting the results will be against what i would want to hear as a christian.
however im asking the question as i am curious as to the results.
my personal position is in favour of a total ban but i do live in the united kingdom, however many of my friends live in the states.
