Why just on one corner? This looks so bad to me. Wouldn't it have been better to even it up and put one on each side?
I almost feel embarrassed for them.
i have been looking and finally saw the logo on the kh sign............. .

there are approved methods of preaching the good news about jw.org in style!.
caleb and his single mammy, tired of your child losing notes to his teacher, pin that note with a friendly, lively jw.org caleb and mommy button for a small fee!

Thanks for bringing that up, steve. You're right. The GB aren't profiting from this.
It's just a new attitude from individual JWs who, in the past, likely would have looked down on profiting from the Truth. At least in my experience.

I've seen one on the local hall. Like your picture, Blondie, the blue sign is a small addition on one side of a brick sign. Looks very incongruous.
I wonder if congregations now will be "encouraged" to purchase an entirely new sign with the JW.org logo more prominently displayed and integrated with the Kingdom Hall sign?

"Theocratic Ministry School and Service Meeting : Thursday 7:00 pm"

Promotional products have a huge markup.
Remember when we used to "place" the magazines for a quarter each "just to cover the printing costs?"

The umbrella costs $24 ?!? Are they crazy? That's at least twice what it's worth!
i think most exjws are frugal when it comes to xmas.
what is your budget for gift giving?.
I think we're at about $600, but that doesn't count Christmas dinner which we put on for 12 - 15 people. That will probably be another $200 when you count all the booze, too.
Some items I buy during the year if I see them, other times I will knock out an entire caregory, like all the sisters and sister-in-laws, with one visit to an online retailer. This year, the girls all got make-up bags from the Vera Bradley website. This keeps me out of the stores where I tend to spend more than I had planned. We did make it to Costco for one whirlwind trip for toys for all of the little kids and in sales tax free Delaware to boot!
My son is the hardest. He is a railfan, which is kind of an obscure hobby for a 13 year old boy. We ordered him the newest train video game and new headphones for his computer to spare our ears, actually! (Nothing like a steam train whistle to break the peace on an otherwise calm evening.) He picked out a t-shirt online and we also ordered him a train calendar. The biggie is the membership to a railroad association which will allow him to work on restoring old steam engines. That he will love!
My husband has told me to pick out stuff I like while we are shopping together to put under the tree. I've picked out a pair of pajamas, a few candles, and some nail wraps for my fingernails. And, my husband has just been hunting and got two does, so the bullets, camo clothing and butchers fee will likely be his Christmas gifts.
No money spent on decorations this year because last year I snagged a beautiful 9 ft tree at Home Depot that came with a free container of Christmas decorations. A really pretty tree, it has pinecones and multiple kinds of differently shaped branches that make it look very realistic. And, the inflatable Thomas the Tank engine with santa hat and greenery is still in rotation in the front yard.
So, kind of a low key holiday this year, but full of all the necessary ingredients: fun and family.
just learned today direct from my beloved daughter that she has been abused between 5 and 12 years old by 2 brothers (her own cousins) and 1 family "friend".
she has attempted suicide a few days ago.
luckily she is living and she is not physically injured.
I'm glad your daughter is feeling better today. How wonderful that she has so many friends who care.
i went to the mall recently .....omg!
glad i don't have to go through all the craziness over christmas shopping..
I am a Christmas freak! I have three trees in my house that I put up before Thanksgiving and my shopping is 95% done, within budget.
Never once have I felt that holiday decorating and gift giving were a burden. I absolutely love shopping for my nieces and nephews and even my son, though he is 13 and is hard to buy for.
Christmas Eve and Christmas Day see us getting together with family, some whom we rarely see other than holidays. It truly is a holiday of love and joy for my family and me.
Edited to add: When you suffer from Seasonal Depression, the joy of Christmas is the one thing that really helps me survive the cold, dark winter.
i was walking into a local food store at noon on saturday and i see someone wearing a tie coming into the store.
it was a brother who i have seen before (in a nearly congregation) wearing a very nice shirt and tie.
it had the jw.org logo embroidered on the pocket.
Does anyone remember in the 80s when having the tetragrammaton (YHWH) displayed on the back of your car was the thing? Brothers who did pen striping on cars would custom make them.
I wonder why that died out.
i remember about twenty years ago some teenagers were caught fornicating in one of the additional schools.
the schools were downstairs, essentially separated from the rest of the kh.
they weren't just happened upon, though.
In the 1970s when I was 6 or 7 years old I attended a hall with no air conditioning. One summer day it was so hot that they propped open the front double doors to try to get some airflow.
A stray cat walked into the lobby, walked slowly up the right-hand aisle (there were 3 sections of seats), sniffed around the stage, and then slowly sauntered back by way of the left-hand aisle and back out onto the street.
And, nobody did anything about it! This was a ten minute or so event that kept me thoroughly entertained. There was some subdued snickering, but, generally, most people pretended it wasn't happening.
