It came in today's mail
by Virgochik init came today, the dreaded envelope containing my personal copy of "return to jehovah" from my elderly, desperate mother.
it included a small note asking me to read it over and to let her know what i think.
she got it at her assembly.. firstly, i'm angry that she continues to push her religion on me, given that i stopped attending meetings over thirty years ago, and very offended that she assumes that i still want to be a witness, which is her choice of religion, not mine.

You could ignore it, or you could tell her that you really don't think she wants to know what you really think because it might open a can of worms that she really wouldn't want to be opened. -

True love is never abuse. Abuse is not true love. -

...and it's pathetic that they didn't realize that that's what they actually were. -

Being shunned only increases my certainty that the WBT$ is a cult
by punkofnice inwell, i don't wanna rant too much but sometimes things cut you don't they.. a family member had a get together for the family, jw and non jw and of course i wasn't invited being da'd.. i understand why they couldn't invite me but it just made me think.
in normal society this wouldn't happen.
i'd have been there.. the shunning is so unnatural and damaging.

"We Already Forgive Him" - What Does That Mean?
by cofty inthe children of one of yesterday's shooting have told the media that they have already forgiven the killer for what he did.. dylaan roof has not apologised for what he did.
he hates black people and probably regrets not killing even more.. what does it really mean to forgive?.
if the legal system asked the victims relatives what they want done next would they ask for dylaan to go free and unpunished?.

That separation would be a problem for reconstructionists who are trying to infiltrate Caeser and "re"create a christian nation. -

Do we need a 'Head Office' any more
by fulltimestudent inlacking access to good scholarship, jehovah's witnesses and their watchtower society waste tens of millions of dollars (or, is it billions) building new head offices in the usa and other places - all at the very time that advances in it technologies, etc, are raising doubts about the wisdom of having a traditional head office.. reference: http://www.canberratimes.com.au/business/comment-and-analysis/time-to-dismantle-the-canberra-head-office-20150619-ghrq9l.

And what about these Translation Offices all over the world? Have they not yet learned about Google Translate?
Tsk, tsk, tsk, these would not be vacation resorts would they?

Why are people burning their city to the ground in Baltimore? How doe Looting and Mob Violence Help?
by PokerPlayerPhil init's hard enough for businesses to enter these areas the government once had to offer up tax breaks to service them.
in watts, california it took decades for city residents to get a grocery store after the thugs burned their businesses to the ground.
you can see the insanity taking place, when you allow mobs and fools to burn building down nothing good comes from it.

True, Simon, the rate is high, especially considering that Baltimore has lost population in that time period. It used to have about twice the number of people. -

I think this "I've forgiven him" stuff is bullshit and it irritates me when I hear it trotted out as if it's some enlightened Christian necessity. Jesus forgave us so we must forgive others.
Why would you ever forgive someone who has deliberately done an evil thing without remorse? People like that haven't asked for and don't want anyone's forgiveness. So why give it to them?
To follow the Christian model, one would have to ask for forgiveness of sins, just as Christians must ask Jesus for forgiveness of sins, or, as they say, accept the gift of forgiveness that He is offering.
It's not automatic, even according to themselves if they are truly following the model set by Jesus in the way he provides forgiveness of sins to Christians.
