Millie, it's that you've finally had the scales drop from your eyes. Amazing isn't it? -

What are the costs of literature cart witnessing?
by oppostate inin the article on the guardian ( http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/jul/14/jehovahs-witnesses-evangelism-church-god-armageddon ) mentioned in another thread, there's this quote of mark omalley, who is assigned to the public information desk at the jehovahs witness uk centre in north london.
we now have more than 165,000 [literature] carts on the streets in over 50 countries.
it gives us visibility and availability.

Seeking First
by berrygerry inin response to a post on reddit, i would like to make this long withheld post.on more than one occasion, i have experienced what seemed like miracles.due to whatever circumstances, in retrospect, largely caused by borg directive, our family became perpetually "in need.
"my efforts, as the "head," to do the right borg thing, service, meeting attendance, family worship, never seemed to provide the relief promised by wts.mentally, i have always wrestled with the contradiction of job and of matt.

So, you don't think that phone call would have come if you'd stayed home rather than gone to the DC? Cell phones work everywhere. -

I've kinda been sad since Pluto has been demoted to dwarf planet.
You talk about 9 planets and all the little kids at school will correct you real quick and tell you that now there are only 8 planets in the solar system!

I hope you didn't puncture your eardrum. Have a doctor take a look at it. You'll probably get the standard lecture about only using your elbows to clean your ears, but I worry about infection.
I am so prone to motion sickness that I even feel sick on elevators! I keep chewable motion sickness tablets with me everywhere I go. I get a giant bottle of meclizine, 25 mg. tablets at Costco for about $4 at their pharmacy and I chew two at a time when I feel sick in the car. They really help. The important thing is that they are chewable! If you're nauseous, you're not going to be able to keep hard pills down.
I'm not sure what the brand name would be if you tried to look for it in a regular pharmacy, but just take a look on the side of the bottle for the active ingredient MECLIZINE. It might tide you over until you can see a doctor. If you're sick and not eating, you could get malnourished or dehydrated very quickly, so I think you really should be seen.
Oh, and DON'T DRIVE! Have your wife chauffer you around!

The 1995 Generation Change
by sloppyjoe2 ini was just a teenager and have a vivid memory of sitting in a chair doing a microphone for the sunday meeting.
everyone was commenting that it didn't mean the end was far off, and it didn't change the condition of the dead, or the 144,000, or the trinity so we should still remain faithful.
this is my first memory as a kid being just a teen that i ever had a single doubt.

I remember hearing about it and thinking, I told you so, I told you so, I told you so!
I had left about four years earlier, but after learning the extent of some of the organizational rot, I predicted they would have to change their doctrine by 1994 because that would be the 80 years with special mightiness past 1914.
They did not let me down. It was one last really big nail in the coffin.

I'm sorry, JWdaughter, it's hard when your children suffer.
And, fmf, you strike me as having a really level head. Take in all the advice you need, but, in the end, trust yourself. Don't allow yourself to be paralyzed by indecision.

Wish You Knew? Ask a Jew!
by CalebInFloroda inbecause on another thread questions about just what the hell jews believe kept taking us off topic, i decided to start this new one.
that's why, as you will notice, it has that new thread smell.
i will do my best to give thorough and concise answers, but be warned: i do not take myself very seriously.

Thanks, Caleb. Leave it to JWs to think they can do Judaism better than Jews can!
