I would love to know who this "we" is because that truly is a strange mish mash of unrelated beliefs there.

Got the personal invite to the D.C
by Phizzy ina nice jw old boy knocked the door and asked me how i was, said they were giving out invites, i refrained from mocking him for the total waste of time such "work" is.. he mentioned that " we don't know when the end will come" , so i just said i was sure my new grandson would grow up, go to university, get a good job and his kids would do the same, by which time i shall be long gone.. "you are sure of that ?
" asked the jw, "oh yes", i replied.. i know we cannot be sure of anything, except death and taxes, but there is loads of evidence that my scenario may well play out, there is no single shred of evidence for an "end to the system" as envisaged by jw's, their weird view coming from a totally discredited source, the bible and mainly its final book, what nonsense..

Yes, redvip, like in the movie War Games from the 1980s. There are no winners, so the rational choice is not to play.

There is a new letter to elders about Child Abuse
by ttdtt inanyone see that there is a long letter on how to handle child abuse?.
-
GrreatTeacher
They could have saved a lot of paper by saying:
1. At any allegation of child abuse, elders have the moral responsibility to call the police or Department of Social Services because they are trained to determine the truth of such claims.
2. That is all.
Anything more is unnecessary and shows a clear regard for WTBS above all else.

The Shunning truth is now out...
by babygirl30 ini have been df'd for 9yrs as of july 31 (yay me!).
so as i have written about previously in other posts, my whole family (parents + sister) made the choice to treat me as if i do not exist, and i have accepted it.
last summer they made a blatant show of it as our family reunion, in that they would walk right by me and not say one word...prompting our extended family to question their actions.

So little self awareness on their part.
They just make it so easy...

by freeandcontent inso my mam visited today.
she recently went to convention in north east england, newcastle i think they still have them at.

Tell her your door is open and she can always come visit her granddaughter, but I wouldn't be emailing pictures of your daughter to her. That just validates her bad behavior. She thinks she can cut you off without repercussions with her granddaughter. Nope, one of the repercussions of cutting you off is losing her access point for her grandchild.
This is abuse. Abusers project their bad behavior onto others. You know, "Well, YOU left Jehovah." Nope, nope, and nope. She can't have her cake and eat it too. This is her choice and she will need to live with the consequences. There is no way I would email her pictures of your daughter.

My Last Study Unit - Sigh!!! - If only I'd studied it 65 years ago
by fulltimestudent insemester 2 commences next monday, and the study unit i'm taking will be my last as a undergraduate.
i've spent 8 years wandering around asian (west and east) history, and i should have graduated a year ago, but mu now has a rule that all ugs must take a two units of study outside their field of study.. so starting monday i will apply my mind to the question implicit in the unit's title: .
why people believe weird things: making rational decision's in an irrational world.. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------.

Well, if you'd studied it 65 years ago, you would have likely missed out on a lot of knowledge as this is really an area that has blossomed since the amount of information available to the layman has increased since the dawn of the internet. We have so much information available to us now that the study of heuristics has really been the subject of academic interest recently.
I'm sure you will enjoy it and I hope you share some current references with us.

OMG, that is the most beautiful English garden, half banana, just like I might expect a stereotypical English garden to look!
Do all your neighbors have similar? What a beautiful neighborhood.
My garden (in the US) tends to focus on plantings at the foundation of the house and in window boxes. It has beautiful curb appeal, and when I sit on my front porch, I enjoy it. But in general, the rest of the yard is mown grass which, when viewed from inside, is not very exciting.
I like the way that an English garden is all throughout the yard and provides great views from the interior of the house, as well as beautiful outdoor rooms to relax in.
I did add 3 large planters of hydrangeas in the backyard. I move them around, and hopefully when I find the right spot, I will plant them permanently. They bloom all season so they are beautiful backyard plants that can be viewed from the house as well as from the middle of the yard. I need to plant up my backyard in the English style and enjoy spending time outdoors in the middle of my plantings.
Must say again, half banana, what an absolutely gorgeous garden! Thanks for sharing the photos.

Your opinion about dating sites?
by nevaagain ini have been a jw all my life, while i also have a "spiritual divorce", which means i can remarry a jw again.
i am not sure if i want to go that route again and dating in the jw world feels like a struggle sometimes.

I agree with freddo. Go where the girls are, even (and especially ) if it's stereotypical.
My husband and I met in this fashion. I decided to go to work in construction. All of my coworkers were male and I had my pick!
Interestingly, my husband had pursued a similar tactic in high school. He joined the cheerleading squad. He found his place at the bottom of the pyramid and said he enjoyed the view very much!
We've been married for 23 years.
It really is a numbers game. The more you meet, the more likely you are to find a good match for you.
