It'll morph into a suggested donation amount, you know, like "They're only 50 cents, to help cover the printing cost."

Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR)
by Simon ini stumbled across something the other day that made me sit up because it seemed to perfectly describe a feeling i experience from time to time that apparently isn't uncommon.. it's called autonomous sensory meridian response or "asmr" and is a kind of tingly feeling on/in your head.
you can read about it here:.

It's also weird when you find out that something you've experienced all your life is not experienced universally.
I've always gotten a really weird feeling/taste in the back of my throat right before vomiting.
It's just not something that ever comes up. And then I learned that other people had never even heard of it, let alone experienced it.Yet, others were completely familiar with it.
Bodies are weird.

So I just watched Jackson's ARC interview...
by schnell inthank you, everybody here, for introducing me to this.
no, no i had not heard of this.
child abuse issues have been roundly dismissed as apostate attacks in the congregations i've attended in the last decade.

I would love to see the content of that letter.
As I watched the commission proceedings, and Angus Stewart nailed all the intricacies of the life of a JW, sliced it, diced it and served it on a platter right back to the foul men who first dished it out, it was like watching your favorite team score goal after goal and shut out the other team.
I was euphoric that someone actually "got it" and also could do something about it.
If that man had a jersey, I would wear it on every single casual Friday.

Never. I've gotten a tingly feeling in my elbow when I've hit my funny bone, but not in my head.
I have heard of this, though, and it is kind of interesting.

Memorial observance screwery.
by Darkknight757 inhad a thought about the memorial observance that is held at the kingdumb hall every year.
there are a few youtube videos of people partaking of the bread and the wine and then making some grand speech before being escorted off the premises.
instead of that, has anyone tried getting a group of buddies together and when receiving the bread or the wine, just eat or drink it all?

Yes, people watch to see who is partaking. They're fairly obvious about it, too.
Fodder for later gossip sessions.

Disassociation revealed what type of man my father really is.
by Paul Mooney ini began my exit from the jehovah’s witness organization about 5 years.
i was a 4th generation born-in, with all the baggage that comes with having the “spiritual heritage” attached to the group.
i was an elder/bethelite/pioneer/whatever other useless privilege there was, i had no family or friends outside of the organization… my entire life was that org.

This is a great story, and I'm glad you shared this with us.
What a gift that was. Your father finally told the truth that must've been weighing on him for a long time.
Sometimes the best we Exes can do is be a soft place to fall for others who are willing to be honest and need to unburden themselves.

That's funny. My husband also tricks the kids with a bowl full of broccoli. He says, "Take as much as you want!"
Then he pulls out the candy dish. Such relief on their little faces.
He also hands out miniature chocolate bottles of liqueur to the parents.
Our house is pretty popular.

Today I Dropped In To Field Service Meeting
by pale.emperor ini just dropped my daughter off to her mum at her parents house.
it was 12pm and i knew they meet for feild service there but my ex and i assumed they would still be out knocking on doors.
i pull up in the street and there's quite a few cars parked up and the house was backed with jdubs from my old congregation.

Only the power of Cognitive Dissonance could convince someone that your acting like a normal parent exchanging custody with the other parent is done to "make them feel awkward."

What if all JWs had put off having children?
by keyser soze incould the religion have survived?.
i know it was never forbidden, but i remember growing up, how we were encouraged to put it off until the new system, and instead focus on a career in the full time service.. can you imagine if every young jw had chosen to follow that counsel?
it's difficult to imagine the religion being sustainable without the next generation of born-ins..

That sentiment was still really strong in the late '80s. Two of my closest friends growing up never had children and are past 40 now.
I think the religion might currently be larger in the absence of that rhetoric.

If you don't feel comfortable with dressing up for Halloween, then don't do it.
Be the cool guy that answers the door when trick-or-treaters show up and hands out the candy.
Just watching their faces and allowing them to show offf their costumes is priceless!
