The people i least get along with are EX- J.Ws
by new hope and happiness ini am not talking about posters here on this board ( otherwise i wouldn't be here would i) but in general.. si i am talking those ex j.ws in my community and we just dont get on.
well ok its a bit of an exaggeration to say i don't get on with them, we just dont associate.
this botherd me at first as i thought we would have much in common, but it wasn't so, and it's just the way it is.

Funny, a few years ago in college I sat in a class of about 2 dozen people. The further along in the semester we got, the more I thought that 2 specific individuals had JW characteristics. To say what they were, I couldn't tell you, but they felt very JWish. Finally it comes out that they were indeed XJWs. Funny, but everyone was concerned with the others'statuses. It turned out one was disfellowshipped and wanted to be reinstated and the other was a fader who had found a new Christian religion.
One day, they ended up dressing me down because I had no interest in another religion! I was cornered after class and had to make it clear, in a friendly way, that I wasn't interested in continuing that discussion. They clearly hadn't yet learned about healthy boundaries!

Thoughts of summer and ummmmm
by new hope and happiness inmaybe i still have the j.w mentality, but i am seriouse....why on hot summer days do the youngsters wear such gloomy colors?
it makes little sence,.. o.k maybe they are rebelling, and there hearts are in the right place, but why can't they rebel in cheerful bright orage tea-shirts, especially during the summer months.
but there you go ugggg beautiful girls in such dark and gloomy colors ...its summer girls make an old man feel glad.. .

Unfortunately maxi skirts are in style, the long ones that go all the way to your feet.
JWs love them.

I've got a Problem - exam tomorrow, and I can't get interested
by fulltimestudent inby 09:20 tomorrow morning i've got to front up for an exam ( in my study unit, the new testament in its times).
and, even though two of the questions are known to me (and all the students sitting for the exam) - i'm finding it hard to concentrate.
the problem is not helped by having a dose of the flu - but i'm just finding it so hard to focus..

Yes, this idealistic young man realized that trouble in the world was caused by toxic relationships and he then created his teachings on better ways to conduct relationships.
Yet, when people used those ideas to create new communities, these communities seemed to suffer from much the same problems as the original troubled world.
So, did the Jesus experiment work or is there nothing to gain from his life and his new religion?
Is this the way it goes with all who try to change the world for the better?
Can people learn new ways of living?
Interesting thoughts.

INTP, though the T is only a score of 1.
We're systems thinkers and that certainly rings true for me. Complex systems like mathematics, languages and computer systems. I teach grade school math.
Ive always thought, give me the "big idea" and I'll work out the details. When you only have to have an understanding of the big idea, you don't have to waste brain space on memorizing small details, for example, formulas.
But, I realize that some people don't think like that. They need to know the details first and then put them all together to get the big ideas.
Sometimes it's hard coming up with lessons that reach out to both types of minds.

5th anniversary Of Michael Jackson's passing
by designs inperhaps the best known of the celebrity jws and certainly the most controversial with the allegations that followed him to his death.. he was a good song writer and had the best in the music industry at his side.
the incredible quincy jones guided the "thriller" and "bad" albums to phenominal world wide sales.. i knew jws who were in the same kh with him and his mother.
the stories and gossip were fodder in the los angeles area.

I remember when Thriller came out we were forbidden to listen to it because MJ was disfellowshipped at the time and listening to his music would be associating with him.
I still listened to it, though.

99.9% Of a People Who Believe In Evolution Don't Understand It.
by Space Madness ini never believed in evolution as i thought it didn't make sense and that what was proposed was simply impossible.
how could an environment alter an organism's dna?
as we can see however, bacteria cannot become resistance to antibiotics.

Rethinking it, Snare, was your comment to me directed at my post 185 about reading comprehension, not post 188 about the textbook creating more misconceptions than it was clearing up?
I'm still scratching my head about your comment.

Space, the misconception that there is no such thing as antibiotic resistance in bacteria.
