Yes, it's very culty.
When my mother talks about Brother Jones, I'll look slightly confused and respond, "Oh, you mean Bob Jones?"
Then we continue the conversation referring to Bob rather than Brother.
I always force normal conventions.

Really crazy that none of them seemed to have read the witness statements.
Why? It's stupid on their part to not read up on the relevant information before testifying. It shows disrespect for the proceedings and also handicaps themselves.
Dumb, dumb and dumber.

Won't get fooled again ...Moon Landing.
by The Rebel inso i was fooled by the witnesses.
what can i learn from that?
not to accept things at face value but to seek out opinion and different view points.. hence my question " do you believe man landed on the moon?.

Will the Watchtower ever turn against K-12 public education?
by cappytan inwhen i was in school, you never heard about critical thinking skills...not till you started taking college level courses.. i work closely with the public education community.
now, the big rage in public education is instilling critical thinking skills from kindergarten on up.. and i'm in texas!
imagine what it's like in more liberal areas.. i would not be surprised if the watchtower started denigrating and discouraging public education (k-12).. it would likely start like this: .

My mother is always saying that she would never send kids to public schools nowadays. But, she sent all of us kids to public school. We're all over 30. -

To DA or not to DA, that is the question?
by dubstepped inlet me preface this by saying that i don't expect anyone here to make my decision for me.
i do however note that like the bible says, in the multitude of counselors there is wisdom, and this is a huge decision, so i wanted to put it out there for discussion.
i really appreciate your words of wisdom, as this affects not just me but my wife also, as we find ourselves in the same boat.

Dubstepped, you don't have to hide anything. You don't have to talk about it even if others confront you and you can just ignore the elders if they invite you to a jc.
Just walk away.
It's a mental step and I understand that it's difficult
But, you owe them nothing. Not even a conversation.
This is not fading. This is walking away and damn the consequences.

Monsters Inc. & The Org
by The Searcher inthe monsters inc. hierarchy taught its workforce to use scare tactics to achieve its goals.. it took sully & mikey to reveal that love & laughter was far more effective - and beneficial for everyone concerned!.
interesting concept, but it'll never catch on!

That was my son's favorite movie when he was about a year and a half old.
He was never afraid of things hiding in the closet. I think he was kinda wishing for Mike and Sully to jump out of his closet one night.
I know as a teacher, in general, love and laughter work better than scare tactics as well

Sometimes I wonder if I could ever give my parents a ride to the hall in their old age and dependence.
I don't think I could. It would be like sharing in their sins...

Okay, brother johnson.
Go get lost in a sea of semantics that only serve to distract you from the big picture.
Watchtower takes advantage of their non-employees, not only treating them without the high standards of God's true organization, but worse than even a worldly corporation would, not giving severence pay or access to unemployment insurance.
I hope you're never an employee in a company that just gets rid of you after 4 years with no warning just because they think someone else might be able to do it better. Or, they get rid of you after 25 years because you just can't work as hard as you used to. Or, better yet, they get rid of you right before you are eligible to retire because they don't want to get stuck with paying your pension or retiree health care.
Most of these things are illegal, or at the least, unethical. But "God's Organization" gets away with doing all of these things simply because they are a religious order. Oh, and they don't have to pay you either because you sign a vow of poverty.
Sounds like a great place to work! And if you were ever there, I have no idea why you didn't stay!
