Course not. They're messengers. It's clear that they work in IT now. More specifically with mobile phones and texting technology. Used to be they had to sing out as a heavenly choir to make known God's messages. Now they just text message people: " Jehovah wants everyone to know that he's the only true God. He also needs your help in getting that message out because he's had laryngitis recently. Please text this message to 10 more people and instruct them to do the same. Thanks, Angel IT Services"

Myriads and Myriads of Angels ... What Do They Do?
by RubaDub ini never understood this in my entire life in the borg.. who knows how many angels there are, millions, billions?.
an angel protected rahab when the walls of jericho fell.
then one angel killed 24,000 one night.. yet there seems to be this paranoia in the borg like the bunker video and the field video where jw's are under attack and apparently alone or at least it appears alone.. can't a few angels be put on overtime and protect the brothers from the potential "authorities" that wish to harm or eliminate them?.

Loved it. It was rather long, but I listened to it while doing some chores around the house.
Loved the part about epigenetics. Genes only work within an environmental context. You can have genes that code for negative outcomes, but they are only expressed when activated by stress or other suboptimal experiences.
Take a listen. It is long, over an hour, but it also makes the laundry go quicker. 🙂

Family is now reaping what they sowed and they don't like it.
by Gemmel ini resigned from the jw's in my 20's over 30 years ago, i was immediately shunned by my entire family and it's remained that way with a few exceptions ever since.
one of those exceptions was being contacted by a cousin a few years back and during that conversation i discovered that my mother had been and still was the prime mover in my complete and continuing shunning.
i then used what contacts i had left to confirm it.

Yes, you can't treat someone as if they're dead and then resurrect them when you need their money.
They don't have that power. Only their God Jehovah does.

The effect Crisis of Conscience has...
by pleaseresearch inwould love to read this book one day and give it to my mum and brother who are both in the organisation.. so many people i see on videos claim that this book was the nail in the coffin.
but do you know anyone where it had no effect on them?.

I think it has the most effect on true believers who really believe it is God's organization.
People who are in for other reasons might not find it so compelling.

Thank you for posting. I got caught up in an internet rabbit hole about sovereign citizens.
Apparently they think that the government is illegitimate and they have rights that are actually theirs to not pay taxes, not register their cars, not have drivers licenses, and some go so far as to file liens against the property of government workers whom they consider to have violated their sovereign rights, usually police or judges.
Some of these movements spun out of anti-government patriot groups that believed that the current, especially federal, government is illegitimate because it has been coopted by believers in big government.
Some movements spun out of the belief that the US government has been illegitimate since the ending of the civil war, and that Jews and blacks have been secretly controlling the illegitimate government since then.
Ironically, a new group of sovereign citizens are found among black folks who believe the government is illegitimate. They learn the rhetoric in jailhouses where it is espoused by those who feel they have been wronged.
Some have issued their own promissory notes and tried to settle tax debt or buy cars, then get belligerent when dealerships refuse to give them the keys to "my property."
Very entertaining to watch, specifically because most videos are from the perpetrators themselves and they think they have proven a grand point, where to most people it looks like they just got "owned."
They are now considered by the FBI to be domestic terrorists that put law enforcement and other government workers in danger. Police departments get special training for recognizing and dealing with them. They can feel threatened when denied their "rights," and have killed before.

Jesus, Morph, where is your mind?
Did you really just call the title the "tittle" multiple times?
Everybody, give Morph a break. His mind is obviously somewhere else. And it might be his happy place!

Should kids learn cursive handwriting?
by GrreatTeacher ini am an elementary school teacher of the fourth grade.
in times past, students would start learning cursive handwriting in third grade and by fourth should be transitioning to writing in cursive at all times.
as you might be aware, this has all but been taken out of the curriculum.

Cursive and cursing - two different things entirely!

La Capra, good point about just taking pictures with phones. I used to worry about the digital divide. My students live in poverty. They don't have computers in their homes and it's true.
But they all have cell phones! And what am I using right now to communicate? A cell phone. Apparently I am slow and stupid for using one finger when double thumbing is much faster! Cell phones are the future of computing. We call people, have a GPS system, take photos, store contact information, create documents for use and sharing, pay bills, FaceTime people to speak to them in person, etc. We can't actually teleport people with them, yet. But they have more computing and other powers in a portable device that is cheaper than pc's or laptops.
This will be the way of the future. We type erratically until the word we're looking for finally appears. And no big deal if we get it wrong, autocorrect has got your back. We google the very beginnings of a thought and myriads of options pop up for our perusal and consideration. And if we don't have the gumption to google something, then we can just use Siri who knows the answers to just about everything.
Kids take these things for granted. While I, not a digital native, have a hard time with technology to this day. I did not grow up with it in my home. I only got a personal computer as an adult and I still struggle because things that should be really easy are often difficult for me. I just don't have a digital brain.
