i know there are a lot.. one belief i never understood is that blood fractions might be ok for a christian but not "whole blood".

to me the "blood doctrine" is ridiculous from a scriptural point of view..

from personal experience i know it usually happens at the end of a district convention.

it would be either the do, co or an experienced elder.. they usually go through everything that was said throughout the dc and thank jehovah for this and that...... last year i used my stop watch to record the time taken by our do,.

by the time he said amen!

Yeah, I remember growing up and going to these long-assed DC's at The Vet in Philadelphia. Think June or July in Philadelphia - not pleasant. So you drive out there (2 hours one way) sit through an 8 hour convention in the sweltering heat, and then the final prayer comes up. You are tired, hot, sweaty, and in agony. If you were a kid like me, it was even worse. Then, Brother Long-Winded A**Kisser closes that days convention with a 15 minute re-cap of all of the talks of that day. Talk about torture!!! Your feet hurt, you're grumpy, and all you want to do is carry your Play-Mate cooler out the door and into the sweet, sweet air-conditioning of your car and get home to collapse, only to do it all over again the next day.

BUT, before you can do that, Brother Long-Winded A**Kisser has to do his tedious 15-minute closing prayer. Uggggggh!!!! It's like, "Hello? We were here all f*cking day, we know what was said? Is anybody in there? Just nod if you can heeear me, is there anyone home?" Why does YHWH God need to have it all re-hashed, he knows what was said? Also, there was nothing ever humble about it. It was always bless the F&DS, thanks for the spiritual banquet, etc. Never please look after the Great Crowd, thanks for Jesus sacrifice, please look after the less fortunate, friends in need, the sick, etc, etc. No, just re-hash the days talks and thank the F&DS. Disgusting.

Thanks for bringing back the memories. 1980's in JW-Land was no fun at all. Blondie, are you really that old? My how BLESSED you must have been to have been in the presence of the Oracle himself, Fred Franz!! It must have been like being in the Holiest of Holies or something, right? LOL!!

i remember the whole process of selecting a host city for australias last international convention.

the australian bethel played the nsw government against the victorian.

it was so similar to choosing an olympic city and the big boys from bethel knew how to play the game.

Wow! What eye-opening experiences!! This truly shows what for a sham these International Conventions are. Sorry, but these don't appear to be anything more than glorified District Conventions for the New York heavies and wealthier JW's. How many of the poor brothers and less fortunate get to attend these big ta-dos? NONE.

It's a tourist trip with JW overtones. That experience about Dan Sydlick above is sickening. "Spend your money, brothers!!!!" Did this man ever work a REAL f*cking job in his life, or has he always sucked on the WT's teet? The money he spends is directly from the pockets of the "sheep" that he looks down his nose at. DISGUSTING!!!

Does Anyone Like the New Songbook?

i'll try not to be 'knee-jerk' critical about this subject but do any witnesses like the new songbook?

ok, they got rid of some awful lyrics about molesting bees - and downsized references to the ever redundant jesus - but the music itself sounds like forced piano practice.

trying to sing these slow, pedantic tunes is awkward and painful.. i haven't seen any witness e-mails about this 'wonderful provision from jehovah' and his faithful hacks, so i wonder if the rank and file aren't enthused either.

Haha!! This is great. I mean, can the Governing Body possilby do anything else to drive more and more people away???

Example #1: This new song book. First, I hear that they are playing some sort of new age music after the drama at the DC's, and then they release this slow, sleepy, boring, horrible song book? Jesus is hardly anywhere to be found, etc?

Example #2: The new generational change. Generations overlap, but the generation Jesus referred to is just one big looooong generation? How the hell do they back that one up biblically?

I swear, it's like they are just pulling crap out of their behind and taking guess from the air. They'd better find another "Oracle" (ala Freddy Franz) and soon, or else it will be over. Their own stupidity is making more and more people wake up. How much more dumbed down and rediculous can they appear?

It's quite boggling.

Don't you know? All of those "HARDSHIPS" are just things SATAN the Debil uses to weaken your faith!

Living in poverty? Hungry? No health insurance? Tired of cleaning toilets? It's not YOUR owned damned fault - hell no! It's Satan's.

And the successful, intelligent, happy people of "The World" that live good lives, have careers, nice house, savings, insurance, new cars? Well, those people are materialistic and SATAN provides for them, BLESSES THEM!!!!

Now, are you a JW that is successful, has a nice house, new cars, savings, insurance, and are happy? Well YHWH is blessing you, but Satan is trying to LURE you with material possessions, so you should sell off everything you own, live in a trailer park, buy a used car, quit your full-time job, and pioneer until The End comes. Don't forget to donate all of your profits from selling everything to the Organization!! Put them in you will too. Then, by living like a pauper and following Jesus footsteps and command to live in a tent, you'll TRULY be blessed as The End comes!

See? JW's win no matter what your situation. It's always Satan this, and Satan that. Jesus and YHWH don't really have any power or say in anything, no matter that Jesus is King and reigning, Satan is the Ruler of This System of Things, so he controls all aspects of your life.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Gotta love this cheery outlook on life, huh?

I couldn't have given 2 shits about the CO or DO's. Half the time I didn't even know their names. This was largely due to the fact that my father didn't give a shit, either.

All I remember was them blowing through with the shiney shoes and big cars, and expecting royal treatment and to be taken out to dinner. What I DON'T ever recall is anything really spiritual or upbuilding coming from the blow-hards.

Douchebags of the highest order, yet they are supposed to be "Princes among men", etc, etc. Total bullshit. I'm so glad I don't have to even worry about those OverLords anymore.

Were you told to avoid telling HH's that they would be killed unless they listened?

one of the many things as a child growing up as a jw that i never understood was this: a elderette told me her husband would be going to see the non jw freind of one of their sons.

it seems that the freind had directly challenged the jw son and asked " are you telling me that if i don't become a jw that god will kill me?".

the son hadn't known what to say to this, bearing in mind of course that the jw belief is "yes you will die at armargeddon if you don't become a jw".

Whoa!! Hold up here; I think we have some conflicting doctrine!!

Yes, as a child growing up in the 1980's, I recall it being very clear that anyone not a JW would die at Armaggedon.

1.) Back then, we were seen as still being doing the seperating of the sheep & goats.

Fast Forward: The "What Does the Bible Really Teach?" publication plainly and clearly states that anyone who died BEFORE Armaggedon would be resurrected and given another chance during the 1,000 year reign of Christ. (which we are now technically almost 100 years into)

2.) Due to a doctrinal change of heart (New Light) the seperating of the sheep and goats is now to be done by Jesus, in the future, possibly during the Great Tribulation.

So......which is it? Are all non-JW's to be dead, OR are they all going to be resurrected, allowed to become JW's during the 1,000 year reign of Christ, and then be destroyed once Satan is allowed out at the end of the 1,000 years?

This is all very confusing I believe. Either JW's are the ONLY ones allowed to survive, or NOT. You can't have it both ways. However, the BIBLE answers this for us, in the verse that states that the resurrection would see BOTH the righteous, and UNRIGHTEOUS brought back. I take this to mean that even unrighteous people would be resurrected, shown Jesus' supreme rule, allowed to perfect themselves and make themselves right - righteous. I think that's pretty merciful of God, and shows he is willing to give mankind several chances. However, this doesn't really seem to jive with JW teachings of the vengelful, unmerciful, spitefull God, does it?
