Jonestown Survivor Quote
by cappytan in"...when our own thoughts are forbidden, when our questions are not allowed and our doubts are punished; when contacts & friendships outside of the organisation are censored, we are being abused for an end that never justifies its means.
when our heart aches knowing we have made friendships and secret attachments that will be forever forbidden if we leave, we are in danger.
when we consider staying in a group because we cannot bear the loss, disappointment and sorrow our leaving will cause for ourselves and those we have come to love, we are in a cult.

Doing the Right Thing, Making a Choice (shunning)
by Simon incontinuing a topic that is dear to my heart because of my experience as both a shunner and a shunnee .... some people seem to get very agitated when i talk about the responsibility people have to make the right choices and that despite all the wrongs within the wts, people themselves have a role to play and some personal responsibility for the experience.. notice i said "some" responsibility, not "complete" - this doesn't absolve the wts for the things they do wrong in any way shape or form.
so please don't get argumentative about possible meanings and absolutes - of course the wts has a significant role to play but we need to decide what we're trying to achieve here and why the personal choice is so important.. i'm also not talking about actual crimes that the wts should answer for.
if they cover up child abuse for instance, they absolutely should be reported immediately.

I'd just like to take a moment to clarify that I feel that not only is the interviewing speaker, but also the parental units in that video are total douchebags. This is the type of people I had to contend with growing up. They were all around me. (I live only 2.5 hours from Brooklyn Bethel) These people are cold-hearted, ruthless, vindictive, narcissist, unapologetic, spiteful, hateful, self-centered sociopaths who lack empathy for others and only care about their own appearance before their almighty WT Cult. F*ck these D-bags, and everyone like them such as: Scientologists, Mormons, SDA's, Moonies, and similar. Emotional leeches, all of them. -

I thought you were gonna say that you saw some JW's step over him on their way to Paradise or something. But, glad you helped him out!!! -

Double Standards in the JW world
by nevaagain inno other organization has so many written and unwritten rules like the jws.
so it comes to no suprise that there are a lot of double standards.. even though the end is "near", wt is building new and bigger offices.
while the small jw should live in a closet and should make plans to have a bigger house in the new world.

Elder's motto: "Do as we say, not as we do."
Org's Motto: "The beatings will continue, until morale improves."

WHATSGOINGON nailed it with his descriptions; I remember all of those and then some. Being hammered from the platform about "worldly entertainment", and that "true Christians" wouldn't even have time for such worldly pursuits and entertainment, travel, gym memberships, hobbies, sports, etc if they were "putting the Kingdom" first.
So as it was, my family growing up in the 1980s had a 14" black and white, and maybe a 19" colour by 1995. In 2001, a resolution was passed in our Congregation to raise the CO's allowance so that he could pay for 1.) His new Buick 2.) rising healthcare costs and 3.) His CableTV bill. My mother sat at that meeting with her jaw on the floor. Here, my family NEVER had a new car EVER, and we barely had a nice colour TV, and not only did the CO always have a nice car, he apparently had CableTV for YEARS, and now was getting an increase in his monthly "allowance" in order to enjoy it. We had a large TV and cable the very next month. When DirectTV came out we then had that. What a hypocritical religion this is.
I am repulsed in the extreme by these douchebags.

Rank-n-File Pee-on: Sin, confess, and show your repentance, and you are STILL out on your ass, and have to PROVE your loyalty and come groveling back to your JC Elders with letter after letter.
Elder: Commit a grave sin, but keep your mouth shut for 5 years, then confess to one of your Elder buddies, get a finger wagging, and a "it's all in the past, just forget about it, all is forgiven", and then go on serving as a Pharisee......errrrr......Elder, as if nothing happened, and no mention or announcement to the Congregation.
Nothing to see here! I still can't believe that's official policy, right in the Elder's manual!! Talk about having "two sets of scales and measures".
Don't go to college, in order to preach and serve God. You should only look forward to Bethel service.
Bethel calls: They are looking for young new recruits at Cult HQ. But oh hey, they only want college graduates with degrees in IT, Engineering, and Law. Everyone else can get lost. God day-yum! That is freakin' incredible.

Did an EX-JW wake you up to TTATT or did you put the effort to wake up yourself?
by John Aquila inhow many of us were woken up by some apostate yelling false prophets at a convention?.
how many of us were woken up by someone holding a sign and yelling, what happened to 1975.
how many of us were coerced to investigate the wt because some ex-jw pulled up a bunch of old watchtowers magazines and told us to read the false predictions?.

Being perpetually shit on by these delusional, End-Times Apocalyptic religious loons my entire life was enough for me!
I was never included or invited to anything JW related growing up - EVER! I was treated like an outcast. My mother actually worked for a living as an R.N. (Gasp!!!), my father was not some MS or Elder who owned a janitorial or construction business, and hence was ignored as well. Nearly 20 years of being denied my childhood, my life, and my freedom, and for WHAT? These people did exactly ZERO for me or to help me the entire time I grew up. On the contrary, they did nothing but ignore, belittle, and judge me. It was like being surrounded by vipers!! These people are totally USELESS, you cannot depend on them for anything, except to stick their noses in where it doesn't belong or offer up their opinion when you didn't ask for it, or show up looking for a free handout. Biggest bunch of lazy, uneducated (and proud of it!), freeloading, backwards, simple-minded half-wits I've ever encountered. I am so glad to be away from them all that I could do backflips down the street! I couldn't imagine living in an eternity around such judgment, Pharasitical, douchebags! Sounds more like Hell to me.

Bygone Days of Old Bethel...
by freemindfade insomething occurred to me last night.
people that made their pilgrimage to jw mecca (bethel) would often be excited about some silly things, i say silly because for those of you who were there or lived near enough to be involved in these things regularly they lost their magic.
i am talking about on tours one of the most memorable things people talked about or looked forward to... lunch.

CappyTan: I didn't realize you were a Bethelite? No wonder you are so hard-core anti-JW.....I would be even more-so if I'd had been enslaved there. Truly, the best anti-JW's are Ex-JW's from headquarters. lol -

Another Resolution
by truthlover inhas anyone on the board been at the recent meeting where they are asking for more money to help out the co's, insurance and health and travel??
this is supposed to go into a general fund???
they can use it for anything they want..... oh, and also, if you can give more, it would help as many congregations may not be able to give - based on number of pubs in each cong.

Question: When do the "loving shepherds" make resolutions to have money COME BACK to the Congregations, and in particular, those members in financial and/or physical NEED.......you know, those people Jesus was always trying to help - widows, orphans, homeless, hungry, ill, infirm, elderly.
When the JW's start acting like Christians, let me know. All I see are power hungry, money-grubbing, charlatans.

If this really is, "The Time of the End", then who gives a sh*t about money and profit? If getting God's life-saving word out to the earth's inhabitants is of such critical importance, then shouldn't the WT Org be speeding up the work, increasing missionaries, financing their work and life's necessities like never before, putting out incredible amounts of literature for the poor nations (where internet doesn't barely exist), and also using Satellite TV to have their very own channel to reach people around the world?
If these are the "Last Days", then money should be no object, as "money" won't mean a damn thing anyway "soon" after Armageddon? As we can see, it's all symbolism and ZERO substance when it comes to this fraud of a religion run by money-grubbing, power-hungry charlatans. Do as they say, not as they do! (invest in stock, expand your real estate holdings, and build your retirement palace complete with golden parachute)
