Drug-Sniffing Dogs Getting Retired at Airports
by RubaDub ini found this interesting in the news that dogs used to sniff for drugs at airports are being significantly cut back here in the us due to the increased legality of marijuana at the state level (though technically still illegal at the federal level) and passengers arriving from canada.
a large number of the dogs are being put into early retirement.. i learned that dogs can be trained to sniff for drugs but once they "learn" a smell, they cannot unlearn it.
basically, there is no difference to them between marijuana or cocaine or meth.

Your idiotic logic would be like saying in 1941:
"Well, we know what Hitler's Final Solution is, but since he's already set it in motion, we won't bother killing him. Let's all play nice."
THAT is how much sense your logic makes. What a twat!

Oh How Far I've Come
by pale.emperor inso this weekend my girlfriend and i will move into our own place together.
it turns out that “a cord of three strands is stronger” is bullshit and two people in a relationship are perfectly capable of being happy without outside influence.
what a journey i’ve had since leaving 3 and a half years ago!

Happy Alcoholic Jehovah's Witnesses
by The Bethelite infor many years since the witness organization, after i have told people that i'm no longer a jehovah's witness, people would say "oh the religion were people are not allowed to drink!".
"no they drink alright.....they can't do much of anything else but they do drink!".
in fact the first place i ever got drunk was bethel.

Back in the 80's in the Congregation I grew up in, there was a nice older fellow named "Jimmy." Jimmy was married, had grown children, etc. Sweet guy. Except after he hit the bottle, he then became mean he hit his wife! And THAT is the reason he was DF'd repeatedly, abusing his wife. He always felt horrible about it afterwards, and his wife always took him back. I mean, he was black-out drunk and mean, and couldn't remember shit!
What was the Elduh's answer to all this? Therapy with a professional? AA Meetings? NOPE! Disfellowship him repeatedly and make him depressed and cause him to drink more!
I met up with Jimmy several years ago as he worked as a greeter for BJ's Wholesale Club. He looked the same, and he confessed he had finally been sober for many, many years! (I think 10+ at that time) He was still a JW though (Sadly) and his wife passed away a few years later. I believe ALL of his children are LONG since out of the JW cult. He was a kind soul to me, and I'm truly glad he finally got the help he needed to overcome his addiction. Now, if he could only escape this fuggin' cult!

Rec'd a letter from my Dad - need some advice...
by Fadeaway3pointer infader here - last meeting was in autumn 2005. lurker on this site and others.
not one to get all controversial.. typical situation, pretty much a born in and left the church at age 38 and never looked back.. i'm 53 now, parents getting older - late 70s but very active, dad is still an elder.. parents, in laws, brother and brother-in-law still uber active jws.. my family (wife and 2 adult children) out since 2005.. we have stayed close to our parents - we have treaded religion lightly and have had a pretty good relationship and have kept our personal lives and beliefs/opinions separated from them.
this was intentional - as we love them and do not want anything to cause shunning since they are getting older and want to be there for them and we respect their beliefs.. got this letter today.

Dear Aging Sperm Donour,
Hello! Thanks for your message filled with emotional and spiritual blackmail! Always a pleasure to see how truly brainwashed by an man-made cult you are! Have no worry, we will honour your request. In fact, in the near future when you require someone to change your diapers and spoon-feed you, please contact your SPIRITUAL FAMILY via the Elduhz, and not us. After all, Jehovah provides!!!! Go forth, be warm, and well fed.
Agape!
Your disinterested unbrainwashed Son.
