There should be a "Political" sub on here like there is for other topics. I've been saying for years now that the political posts are honestly not in the spirit of this forum, shouldn't even be brought up, and are quite frankly scaring away any new prospective members of this forum. They're all flocking to the Ex-JW Reddit forum, where those posts are pretty much nuked from the start. I've been on here since 2002. I've been on Ex-JW Reddit forum about 3 years. Both have their pluses and minuses.

JW Net and Politics
by snare&racket inthis site was and remains instrumental in assisting people that want to leave the jw's.. there has been political discussion here for some time now, a good couple of years and it makes me feel a little uneasy.
i just opened up the site for the first time in some weeks, of the 10 posts being discussed, 4 were by the same poster, about politics, promoting their right wing beliefs.. this has been the trend for some time now, the same name behind a peppering of posts stirring the right v left of politics.. i remain forever grateful to the site and it's founders simon & angharad, i appreciate that simon shares some of these these political beliefs.
it would be a shame to see the site evolve from a place for jw freedom of thought and escape, to political squabbling, that the world is frankly tired of right now.. just to clarify, politics is my hobby, whilst my friends read the football scores, i'm reading polling data.

Tiger Woods
by minimus inwhat do you think of him?
i know he’s a great golfer.
we know he just got into a major car accident (again).. i respect his golfing abilities but personally i’ve never cared for him and i think the press glorifies him sooo much.

Greatest golfer of all-time. He was totally "handled" by his father though, and once his father died he was without direction and went totally off the rails. He's kinda slimeball in real life, honestly.
Fun Fact: My wife once worked for a company that made outwear for all the PGA Golfers. Like at tournaments. They made all of he rain jackets to measurements. Tiger Woods has the smallest wrists of any golfer, and it was speculated that that is one of the reasons his swing was so unique and smooth. He's done a lot over the years after his accidents to improve his upper body strength, to as to put more power behind his swing and build up to compensate for his back. Now, he f**ked up his right leg. Much like Jordan, he's so competitive that he may not allow himself to be "done" and retired just yet. He has a year of recovery until we see him back in competitive form.
I know it's stereotype, but the "Asian" in him doesn't allow him to drive like a sane human being. He drives like a fuggin' nut. He's had so many speeding tickets, I can't believe he has a license. His "celebrity privilege" has taken him far. I honestly couldn't give 2 shits what he does. He's not my cup-o-tea. Like I said, great abilities, shitty human being. Just ask his ex-wife. She'll tell ya!

Try To Be Less White
by minimus inthat’s what coca-cola is telling their employees.
.
this is ridiculous!.

Be LESS WHITE.
But if you try and act BLACK??
Poseur!
Maybe if there was less Ghetto Thug Culture, the Black Community wouldn't be in the situation it's in. Glorifying violence in the rap music, single-parent families where the baby daddy's are nowhere to be found, always blaming your problems on "whitey", and perpetually electing Democrats is what got them Detroit, Philly, Chicago, Baltimore. "Whitey" didn't make those cities the way they are. Nope! BET needs to invest in a MIRROR.

Rush Limbaugh Is Dead
by minimus inthe conservative icon rush limbaugh passed away today.
he had lung cancer and finally succumbed to the disease.
what is sad and disgusting is how some people are happy and thrilled that he is gone.

Ben Shapiro is the new Rush Limbaugh, no doubt about it. Rush would be proud of how Ben calls out the Left's crazy bullshit and hypocrisy.

Does anyone know how Leonard and Marjorie Chretien are doing today?
by WingCommander inthey are the hosts of the first jw documentary in 1986 entitled, "witnesses of jehovah.
" they authored a book of the same name.
they were probably in their late 40's / early 50's in 1986, so i was wandering if they were still active or even alive?

Paul & Pat Blizzard:
They actually had their own ministry as well for several years in the USA, and then they moved to Vietnam and I know Paul is there with his ministry and also is a kind of photographer. He specializes in taking old photos, find their location, and then shooting the new location from the same spot, particularly war photos. He helps orphanages, etc as well. Has a long beard. Absolutely loves the "new" Vietnam. I actually found some news articles on him and his new life over there.
Their daughter (the one that needed the blood transfusion), did unfortunately die around 1989. They had several other children though.
I find it ironic that the Chretians live so near Beth Sarim. (San Diego)
Peter Gregerson died several years ago now.

R&R:
Thanks! I'm aware of those sites, but I'll be damned if I'm paying for that. I'm asking on here and Reddit so as to possibly find some real info on them, how they've been, etc. Glad to hear they are still alive and kicking though. Thx.

For (possibly) anyone not familiar, here is the free 1-hr documentary on Youtube:
Now, I've also found their personal testimony from an early pre-viewing of this documentary expose on Youtube as well. It is VERY insightful as to how they were recruited into the JW's, what woke them up over the years (culminating in and around 1975), and how they eventually left. They are very talkative and it's an easy listen thru some good studio headphones. Here it is:
The Chretien's ex-JW testomony
The "Witnesses of Jehovah" documentary has brief interviews with Ray Franz, Peter Gregerson, Carl Olaf Johnson, Dr. Julies R. Mantey, and others. Even though this was released in 1986, I didn't discover it until 2002 online, and it was like a punch to the gut. To see everything laid out, the evidence, the history of false prophecy, the interviews and experiences......blew me away. I showed my (disenfranchised) POMI JW mother, and she actually ordered both of Ray's books before me!
Anyway, I don't feel the Chretien's get nearly enough credit, and I'm just curious as to whatever happened to them. I know they had their own Outreach Ministry back in the 80's, but haven't really found anything of them since. I hope they are living a good, rewarding, life.

Do exJws Easily Accept What They Are Told?
by minimus inwe were told that we needed to accept whatever we were directed to by the governing body and elders.
eventually we rebelled and left the organization.
do you think former jehovah’s witnesses seem to question authority more than others?

A 'typical JW' story
by joey jojo ini am friends with an elderly 'worldly' woman, who was unaware i am an ex-jw.
she employs a jw husband and wife pioneer couple for odd jobs around her house- mowing, cleaning etc.
the couple has been working for her and her recently deceased husband for years.. just before the 2019 international convention, despite the fact that the husband was fighting his last battle with illness, the couple kept asking him to attend the convention with them.

Should have informed elderly "Worldly" friend that not only were the JW's not "real" friends, but that any time they spent discussing beliefs was marked down as "time" towards their field ministry hours for the month. Bet THAT shit would have really made her jaw drop!
