oh my heavens what a joy it would be to line up all the runners and tell half of the americans - the vast majority of those who actually live on their social security, that they want to take it away.

So what's the big deal? Social Security and other "entitlement programs" are nothing more then cute socialist programs. If I could "opt out" of paying Social Security (and thereby also lose my right to collect it) I would in an instant. Yeah, I'd love to be able to invest that money how I see fit for my own retirement, not have the government automatically take it away from me.

Do tell, exactly how do you think Obama-Hood is going to pay for the HealthCare Reform he just signed into law? I'll tell you how - how about a 10-20% VAT Tax like the European countries have? That's how THEY pay for all of their socialist entitelment programs, and I can almost garuntee that is what is going to be proposed in the next few years, and probably signed into law before Obama leaves offifce. It will have to be in order to pay for the skyrocketing cost of it all. Imagine, everything you buy, maybe even FOOD, would have a 10-20% VAT tax on it. People are struggling now, wait till THAT tax is thrown on top. We haven't even gotten to the real hard times yet in this country.

A taxpayer voting for Obama is like a chicken voting for Colonel Sanders. My question to you is, are you going to original, or extra crispy?

Memorial 2010 Your Experiences

just got back from memorial.

only went so that i could say to my parents that i had gone and to remind myself why i left.. oh my word!!!

it was sooooo painful.. got there a bit late - it was a couple of minutes into the talk.

Love your comments. I didn't go to the Memorial this year or last, but I totally relate to ALL of your comments. You stated something to the effect of how a newly interested or "Worldly" would take in this event. Well, I have some insight into that very situation. About 8 years ago before my wife and I were married, she knew of my JW beliefs. I was very inactive, but still partially believing of their BS. She was open enough to the religion and respectful enough of my beliefs to ask to attend the Memorial with me. So I took her.

Her reaction? One of utter confusion, disgust, and she was incredibly bored. If no one partook of the emblems, why even bother to show up to "reject" them? She brought up so many good points that I had NEVER thought of in my life. She even questioned some Elders that came up to me after the "celebration". I think her biggest point, one that again I had NEVER though to ask as a JW (Because we are trained NOT to think and ask questions) is that even if we have 2 hopes (one heavenly, one earthly) why wouldn't ALL partake as Jesus directed? After all, he stated that ALL whom wanted eternal life were to keep doing these things in remembrance of Him. This bit of logic smacked me right in the face. I don't recall him directing only the Annointted to keep doing this, or even say "only the Little Flock"....NO, he said ALL were to do this.

Also, as I grew up in this JW religion, I could never figure out why it was called a "Celebration" of the Lord's Evening Meal. It was just another meeting to me, except I got to pass the bread and wine - woo-hoo!! Only later as an adult did I hear of the all of the families, cliques, etc that all got together AHEAD of time for large suppers out at nice resteraunts or at their homes together. Guess what? My family NEVER got invited to such "to-dos" as I guess we were never considered GOOD ENOUGH for such invitations. So it pisses me off that I and my family never even got to "celebrate" this event as alot of the other wealthier, cliquish-type people did. We didn't do jack shit except go and then come home. NEVER went out to a nice resteraunt to observe it beforehand and celebrate, either by ourselves or with anyone else. What a gip!!!!!

Know what I did last night? I had a nice Italian supper with my family, where we had garlic bread and Mogen David (Kosher) grape wine. Damn, I love that stuff and Manischevitz. I drink that stuff almost every night, not just on Passover. I let my 6 year old have the last little sip of my wine, and told him it was the only time of year he's allowed because it was Passover, and Jesus told all of his followers to keep doing this as part of the New Covenant. My son drank the sip and said, "Um, Yum!!!" Later, I read him the Lord's Supper story from the "Every Day with God" bible story book that I bought. Before everyone goes off and tells me I'm creating an alcoholic, let me state that my own father allowed me to drink wine from the time I was about 5 from time to time in the same fashion. Guess what? It takes away this auro that we in America have over booze. Hey, in Europe kids are allowed to drink wine?

Anyway, that's how my night went. Oh, and I didn't get an invite to the Memorial in nearly 3 years now. That's with a neighbour JW Elder being on the same street as me. What a fine witness for Jehovah the reclusive, oddball JW family is.

Wow.....just wow. I swear, the longer I am away, the more I can't believe that my family bought into this lunacy for so long.

Just look at the isolationism that is being pushed, the seperatist attitude. This article just drives home the theory that along with operations and headquarters moving out of Brooklyn to a rural location, so too is the seperatist mindset going to be pushed onto the JW's.

Hey WT Headquarters: I hear there is some cheap land down in Gayuna? It's been vacant a good 30 years now...interested? I mean hell, you can relocate EVERYONE down there onto a large "Paradise Earth Compound" in the jungle, to wait out the remaining time until Armaggedon? Hey, we know you've got the money - just do it already!!

How can these people even function in such a technologically, and interlaced culture such as today? They are going to be become more "hermit-like" as time goes on.

Just sell all of your possesions, live in a trailer park, drive a 1985 Ford LTD, and keep on pioneering and living off of welfare (Caesar) until The End comes. What a life!!

Finally got my memorial invitation

i had a message left on my cell phone letting me know about the memorial on tuesday night.

it was some local elder whom i've never met.

i can only guess that he got my cell number from my oldest brother.. i found it rather condescending the way he actually described to me what the memorial was, as if i'd never attended one before.

Can You Get DFd for Working for the Department of Defense?

so, as some of you may be aware, i got a job offer with an agency under the u.s. department of defense.

the other day i told a member of my family, and they nearly went apeshit.. my question: what reprecussions could this reasonably have?

does the wts speak of this in any of their publications?

Odd Man Out: Living in a World of the Religiously Insane

i was in a huge public building the other day and while waiting to use the phone, i had to sit across from someone who was a staff member of the business.

she had a rhinestone j-e-s-u-s pin on her collar.

Well, look at our ancestors. Most of them were Puritans, Quakers, or some other oddball, strict Victorian era religious zealots. Take New England for instance. There are still odd laws on the books against adultery, fornication, etc that can be enforced if need be.

Puritans and Quakers outlawed all holidays, totally. Talk about a JW's paradise!!!!

Here in Pennsylvania, and other parts of the USA, we have the Amish and Old Order Mennonite. They are a cult with the same twisted reasoning as the above mentioned. Most people find them interesting and cute, I find them to be money-grubbers, pharisees, and hypocrites of the highest degree. Did you know in some places around here Amish Elders actually have electricity in their homes, cars, TV's, cell phones, all the while denying it to their congregations?? I am not making this up, I've seen it because the company I work for does alot of business wih the Amish around here. They are cheap, penny-pinching pharisees of the highest order. The inside joke around here is that they are "Christian Jews" because of the way they are with money. Many of them are millionaires several times over, because wealth is made, saved, inherited, and passed down to the next generation.

Can You Get DFd for Working for the Department of Defense?

So let me get this straight, the WTBTS can be a United Nations (Wild Beast remember?) UN/NGO for library, but you can't take up work at a sub-contractor for the Department of Defense for the USA???

Hahahahahahahahahahaha!! What utter bull-f*cking-shit!! Anyone not liking my job would immediately be shown the press release from the United Nations website that declares the WTBTS a UN NGO affiliate.

As someone stated above, any normal person viewing this would automatically think, "What a f*cking CULT!!" How controlling and manipulative.

Let's be honest here, shall we? You're not working down in some missle silo in Missouri where you have your finger on the button of 4 minute-man intercontinental ballistic thermonuclear warheads, right?? I mean, I don't think as a Christian I could do it, although the military in me says that I would only be an instrument of destruction, carrying out the orders of others, not actually making the "kill" descision myself. Kind of like the "Angel of Death" who swept over Eygpt, was HE to blame for the killing of the first borns, or was it YHWH who made the call? The Angel of Death was merely and instrument of descruction. So me personally I wouldn't have a problem, but as a Christian I wouldn't work in missle silo launching missles.

Sorry to sidetrack, but your families arguments (and witness logic) is seriously flawed and ludicrious. I also agree with other posters on here who stated that you shouldn't have opened your d*mn mouth to begin with!! You must WANT to be DF'd is all I can think. Knowing what you know, why in the hell would you even elude to the Department of the Defense, or any other governmental position?

I would like to point out though the WT's current stance on being a policemen. JW's can now be policeman and still be in good standing. I'm not sure when it was reversed, but YES, you CAN now be in law enforcement and still be a JW, you are not automatically DA'd like in years past. Don't ask me to quote it, I'll let Blondie find it....but there are JW's who are in the FBI, Federal Marshall's, etc and are not DF'd or DA'd due to this new standing. Most JW's won't like them, but they are out there.

Your bro is probably just jealous as hell. Jealousy is what drives alot of people to drudge up these man-made pharisitcal rules to try and hold you down. See, they are miserable, and we all know misery loves company, especially JW misery. Why would you want to be SUCCESSFUL? WE are your spiritual paradise! Why don't you want to sell everything off as Jesus commanded and follow Him, right into poverty? You'll be much happier living paycheque to paycheque, and you won't have the hassle of worldy material possessions? Just move into a trailer park, clean toilets, and pioneer as much as you can, for the End is Near, since 1874!!!

i was df'ed for apostasy (brother-in-law caught me on this web site in march of 2007) and since my judicial committee in april of 2007 and subsequent divorce in october of 2007 i never looked back.

3 years later, my son (12 years old) is completely out (has only attended the memorial since leaving), and my daughter (10) is fading as best she can.

Dear Yorkanna & Red Lion Congregations of Jehovah's Witnesses of central Pennsylvania (USA) :

You all are completely useless. My entire family died one at a time, and your advice was to go out in the field ministry more often and attend more meetings, like that is some kind of cure-all for the lonely and heartbroken. Kind of hard to do when your loved ones are dying and need attention, aye? You did NOTHING for me, offered me nothing, gave no physical assistance to me, yet my so-called "worldly" co-workers, friends, and even neighbours prayed and brought food to my home. I grew up around alot of you, (as well as the old Columbia Congregation) as well as going to school with your children. I have a newsflash for you: I was the good son, the one who believed everything and tried to live my life well, all the while your own children (of my age) were living a double life, and were far worse acting then my "worldly" school mates!!! If only you knew HALF the dirt I know about your kids, you'd be shaken to your core. Then again, maybe you are all in denial and don't want to know. About 4 witnesses showed up to my families funerals (they were all in good standing), yet when super-Elder Business owner had his tragic accident (members of this congregation will know who I mean) there were something like 1,000 people in attendance in 2-3 Halls!!!! He was a nice guy, but only when others were around. I called this "fine shepahrd" while in another state with my dying parent, asking for some time, some spiritual help, and a visit. His response? He gave me the name of the nearest Kingdom Hall in the area and told ME to contact them. **Click**. I was left in shock at his cold-heartedness - my jaw was literally hanging after that phone call. Meanwhile, my parent's "Worldly" co-workers took off work, drove down 5 hours in a rented car to visit us and share memories with us a few days before they died, as well as offering me genuine remorse and help. My, what a fine WITNESS you all truly are!! Completely and utterly USELESS is more like it! Then, to add insult to injury, when this blowhard of an Elder tragically dies later, I'm sitting at the funeral service for him and having to listen about all of the things he liked to do growing up that I was expressly forbidden to do in high school! The hypocrisy was astounding, and the sickening WT infomercial made many of the non-witnesses sick, as they expressed to me later!! Another "fine witness" for this twisted religion if I ever saw one!!

Oh, oh, and Joshua Royce! What another fine "Witness for the Truth" he was!! Is he reinstated yet? He was Valedictorian of the 1997 graduating class, then got turned in and arrested for inappropriate sexual contact with underage childen of a woman he was dating. Sick!! Bet his holier-than-thou mother tried to brush that under the carpet quick huh? Good thing the police don't do such things. How about Brother Schumaker from Red Lion, you know...the dog catcher. Is he out of jail yet from his pedophilia sentance? Maybe he's an MS again?

How many are in your congregations again? Last couple of times I stuck my head in it was dwindling, and hardly anyone in their 20's was there at all, the place was 3/4's empty on a Sunday! What a freakin joke.

I always think of these passages from the Bible when I recall the treatment my family and myself receieved from these useless, hypocritical Pharisees.

The fruits you bear are rotten to the core, and the fake love you tout at every meeting is transparent to everyone around you with a brain, why else do you think people are leaving, especially the younger generation and those with a brain?

Not many other people on here may admit to the congregations they attended, but I will. I hope someone from WT Headquarters or better yet, an actual congregation member will read my words. FYI: I am NOT a DA'd or DF'd individual..... I just never got baptized.
