Just a short observation on self inflicted misery.
by Human Being ini used to post on this site a few years back but after moving on personally and being shunned by my only remaining family member for the last 4-5 years i the j.w's became just background noise to me.
yet yesterday something happened that brought back to me the degree of control this cult has over it's members.
a new wall mart recently opened in my little mountain town here in northern georgia, u.s. as i headed across the parking lot on my way into the store the heat was intense, wit a humidity factor of around 90%.

Wal*Mart customers seem exactly like the type of uneducated, overweight, simpletons that JW's could easily draw into their cult. Fortunately, even Wal*Mart shoppers are smart enough to know better, as they have their own bat-sh*t crazy religious beliefs to contend with. Their God is better than the WT God, as they see it. -

Wow.......just........WOW. Just when you'd thought you'd seen it all??
You know what that rationalization will be? Are you ready? Here it comes:
1.) These aren't patriotic, nationalistic, etc.
2.) These aren't idol worship, because we don't worship them.
3.) These flags "symbolize" the JW.dot.org and promote God's word.
4.) Advertise! Advertise! Advertise!
5.) Ancient Israel had staffs with flags that flew as they went into battle carrying the Ark of the Covenant. So today to, we carry these blue flags as we march out onto the Theocratic battlefield.
**** BARF ***** Can't believe I can still make myself think like them after so many years, but there it is!!!!

It's like band that continued to play as the Titanic sank. That's what this is, the Titanic. Going down....slowly but surely.
Last one out, please turn out the Old Light.
Thanks.

So, same sh*t, different decade then?
Should have asked this clown who the King of the North is? What about the visible signs of Christ's presence.....waters turning as red as blood, Trumpet blasts, etc, etc? Fall of Babylon the Great, has that happened yet? I'd love to call one of these buffoons out on their fear-mongering, just to make them sweat and look like the asses they are.

Advice Needed - JW Grandparents
by What Now? inmy family has been out (inactive no meeting attendance or field service) for just over two years..
weve made many changes in our lives, including with our personal appearances (tattoos, piercings etc) that are a pretty obvious sign that we arent going back any time soon.
our families went through a period of time about a year ago when they made a lot of threats that if we left the truth, they wouldnt even be able to share a meal with us, they would stay loyal to jehovah etc.

What a bunch of poseurs your family is being exposed to. That's right, I said it! That's what people are that would act like this. They are nice-nice to your face, so long as they are allowed to indoctrinate your children against you behind your back. And let's not kid ourselves, that is EXACTLY what this behaviour is about......CULT recruitment.
After the threatening letters I would dumped them all like the manipulative, crazy, bat-shit cultists that they are. That was their TRUE colours right there. Everything you are seeing/experiencing right now is all for show.....glossing over how they really feel about you and your family in order to suck your kids into a controlling cult.
Wake up. You are being played for fools. I'd never allow my children around them alone - EVER.

Looking Back In Retrospect To 1975...
by titch ingreetings, folks: so, it's been 40 years since 1975. and, if you were actively involved with the witnesses back then, the mindset of many was, that by early autumn of 1975, it would mark the anniversary of 6000 years of human existence.
and, the hope was then, that it would mark the start of the 1000-year of christ, from the heavenly realm.
but, looking back now, 40 years ago, in june of 1975, only 3 more months remained until early autumn.

@Stan:
Wow! I am so sorry to hear that.....that your wife is choosing this sham of a religion out over her own flesh and blood son and grandson. That is horrible. I hope that you are in good relations with them.

I had just turned 21 when I met my wife who was 36. Now I'm soon 36, and my wife is 52. Today is our 12th wedding anniversary, and 15 years together. We have an 11 yr old son. By 21, I was already fed up with stuck-up, high maintenance girls my age, or even a few years older. They wanted to be treated like Princesses and spoiled, all the while being totally lame in bed and barely contributing financially to the relationship. That crap got old, QUICK.

"Deep Down , He Knows That It is The Truth"
by BluesBrother inthis phrase i heard again at the weekend when a diehard dub was discussing his non believing, but much loved son.
"it is just that..... [insert any excuse here].
it is something that they all say about us, yet nothing could be further from the truth.

If it were really the truth and God's Chosen religion on earth, then maybe he shouldn't let so many people "escape" every year, year after year, aye? Maybe God is trying to tell the JW's something?
Maybe something like, "Get out of her, my people!!!!" Seems to me the only ones left are the truly old, infirm, mentally ill, haughty, delusional, and narcissistic. Not people I'd ever want to spend eternity with. Honestly, as I look around at years gone by, all of the people I liked my age/older/younger, up and left and got out once they came to their senses. It's the assholes that are left. They can keep and/or shove it!

Ran into some JW's.......but this time I did the teaching ;) x
by snare&racket inso i went out today with my broken leg and got accosted by an old lady, with some magazines.. it was my first ever encounter with a jw in ten years, and i had said 'i know you are jw's, i'm not interested thank you.
" twice.....then she started talking about my broken leg and how wonderful we are made and how amazing the healing process is.... and that's when it all started...."i used to be a bethelite pioneer, now i'm an atheist doctor...".
she was with me a good 30 mins, her elder husband left very annoyed but she stayed, and she was dying to hear everything i spurted out, despite aggressively defending every point, from military engines to paedophilia.

You really are an inspiration S&R. While I'm not an Atheist, I really feel for you and your journey. I had a similar experience about 7 years ago where a JW mother that I knew (who was shunning her grown DF'd daughter for marrying outside the JW's) came to my door unknowingly to preach. It was all pleasant, but she got a good earful. By the end of it, her group was way down the street and was looking absolutely defeated. She had ZERO answers to my questions as to why she was even standing there, since we all were supposed to have been in the New Order years ago, why I had a job, wife, mortgage, & son of my own. Why does she look old? Why is she an uneducated cafeteria lady at the local school, and not retired by now or petty pandas next to a lake? No answers....just the sad face. Her married daughter wants nothing to do with her, and I can't blame her. Lives in the next county over.....very happy, and glad to be away from the JW's and family that kicked her to the curb when she was about 19 for falling in love. She's been married to that fellow for 18 years now. How's that shunning working out for the JW parents I wonder? -

I wasn't born until 1979. I very rarely ever heard anything about 1975, & my parents didn't start studying until late 70's after they were married. I'm 36. For me, the 1914 Generation doctrinal fiasco was the "kicker" for me. Actually, what I heard about and wandered about as a child was the whole Pyramids of Giza proving 1914 BS. Even as a child, I wandered how in the world measurements in the pagan Egyptian pyramids proved anything about the Bible? Why would they need to? They are pagan, and the Bible is truth and Christian, correct? Seemed whack, even in 1984. In 1998, I started searching Yahoo! search engine about this stuff......1914 and pyramids, and oh man......what a traumatic experience to learn and have it confirmed that it was all total BS. Dominoes fell, and continue to fall to this day.
