Expect a shepherding call just before the time the circuit overseer is scheduled to visit your congregation. One of the things the CO does is goes over every publisher's report card at the elder's meeting. When he gets to yours he is going to ask, "Did anyone visit this person?" A "no" answer always gets the PO and the elders into a lecture that after getting it once they don't want to hear it again.

I finally did it
by doublelife ini told my mom that i'm not going back to the meetings.
i wasn't planning on telling her that but i've been going through some hard times with my husband and just got fed up with her hounding me.
so she asked if i'll still consider going back to the meetings and i just flat out told her no and that it wasn't up for discussion.

Ugly Sisters
by XPeterX ino.k i have noticed that most female jws are ugly.and by ugly i mean ugly.they won't work out, they are fat and won't go on a diet (some female teens won't even shave their legs),they neglect their appearance/body in general.any opinions?.

I disagree. While there were some homely ones, there were some that were really pretty. The only bad thing is some of those pretty ones knew it and it went to their heads big time.
Do you live near a petro-chemical company or a nuclear energy facility?

stealing the collection plate
by diamondiiz inas i was going over some more recent wt scandals i thought deeper about this parking pass donation scheme.
what's the scoop on this today?
i know that even 2 years ago when i still went to the conventions they advertised parking tickets on a donation basis in calgary so it got me thinking that the whole procedure sounds very similar to the one in tacoma.

I think they have overused and altered the word "donation" since it entered their vocabulary in the early 90s.
My take on it is if the parking and convention are "free" why insist on a daily parking "donation"? Let me ask a follow-up question: Can I still park the car if refuse to donate or don't have the money?
I think it is a revenue generating gimmick to either pay for the expense of the venue, generate a bit of needed profit, or most likely both. It's a little bit of word play: the stadium seats are free but the stadium parking isn't.
I think by insisting that people bring their own meals they are encouraging people to take their cars. Who wants to carry their bookbags and their lunches, and those of their children, on the bus?

The JWs have their own Trinity, and more
by Doug Mason inthe jws explanation of the human being jesus christ is an unreasonable, irrational trinity.. first he is a god with a divine nature.
but he is also an angel, so presumably has the nature of that level of created being.. then he is deprived of these natures and he only possesses the attributes of the human nature, albeit the nature possessed by the very first one, (homo erectus or neanderthal?
) adam and his wife eve.

Sorry Doug but your criticism and the way you explained it doesn't make sense.
I can understand if you have an axe to grind against the JWs but you are grasping at straws here.

Convention-Assembly CONTRIBUTIONS, Elder Experience Required
by V indo you have experience as an elder and the contribution arrangement for assemblies or conventions?
an upcoming watchtower comments video will be exposing the resolution arrangement that makes this a cash-cow for the society.. i am particularly interested in recent experience, including countries other than the us.. let's get our facts straight and explain the ever-present "deficit" once and for all.. v. here's a link to Canadian Assembly hall's tax returns, compare some to each other. I know Norval, Ontario( 90% sure :) ) and Onoway, Alberta ( 100% sure ) don't have any kingdom halls in them and are strictly used for assemblies. I don't know why more didn't appear as I know there is one in Calgary that has 5 kingdom halls in it which is also used as an assembly hall.
I tried it twice. The link didn't work. Is there another way you can show the content? I'm curious.

I believe the Branch manual contains written instructions regarding how that works.

Elsewhere, that is an excellent scan!! Did you have that manual professionally scanned? Just curious.

1975 coverup! Compare the '68 and '81 Truth book scans
by JimmyPage inthe wt society pointed to 1975 as the date for the end of the world.
when the date came and went they changed their publications to remove themselves from the fiasco.
need proof?

The WTS is very sneaky with their sneaky revisions. I've seen others show scans of changes even though they didn't openly come out with a "revision" edition.
Some here have software that tracks the changes the WTS do at their websites! LOL
Say, has anyone come up with a list of before and after coverups? I've seen them posted from time to time so some have this research.

All you elders kids
by sinis ini remember my old man being the po used to give talks all the time out of cong and city.
at first i was excited, i was 17 (horny) and wanted to meet some girls, but my excitement soon wained and i would tell my family that i was just going to the local hall whenever they went out of town or another cong in town.
the reason?

It depends on the demographics of your area. If you live in a mostly retirement area, that's mostly what you're going to get.
When my Bible study conductor was promoted to elder I got to go with him on some of his talks. I got to meet quite a few babes in and around my area. I guess some places had better babe populations than others.
But sometimes it may work for your benefit. I met a nice sister in one of those mostly old populated congregations. While you get sisters that can get quite rebellious and sassy living in a predominantly mature area, on the other hand you get a few sisters that are pretty well grounded, intelligent, and refreshingly old-fashioned and sweet.
Just my two cents.

R&R, you're right. I went to a meeting this past January and it was just the same - just as you explained. The Watchtower study had no surprises.
The speaker was just awful! I was truly embarrassed for the JWs there who brought any guests to hear this. He used generalities, tons of JW-speak cliché, used and reused about 80 words in his vast vocabulary. You'd hate to figure how this life-long member of the Theocratic Ministry School must have sounded like before he enrolled!
I'm sorry but if people are going to give you 45 minutes of their time, the least you should do is speak your best with art, pride, and enthusiasm in what you have to say!
Perhaps this is the reason why meeting attendance is getting worse -- the JWs are simply run out of gas and they have empty speeches to offer once they get there.
Simply awful! I was really shocked. I wonder how it must be at the larger assemblies.
