Warm and fuzzy
by outbackaussie intoday i was blessed with the joy of having a person ring me to see how i was doing....purely because i hadn't been posting and they were worried about me.
kelpie, that was just the nicest thing and i spent the rest of the day feeling fantastic.
yep our very own kelps took the time to look up my listed number and give me a call :) it was great to talk to a net buddy and hear her voice (and it is a very sweet voice indeed) and i just wish i'd had more time to chat.

Life, death and other musings
by outbackaussie ini have been absent from here for afew days.
on thursday my hubby got a phonecall from his dearest and best friend's partner that the tumour in his brain had agressively spread and it was looking like time is just about up.
we have known that this was coming for about 2 years since he was diagnosed with the cancer but even now it is a shock and very numbing to know you will lose a dear friend soon.

the odd whinge about being a teenager lol i still had the major crush for stuart.
i was really starting to "bloom" and those hormones were rampant.

What was the worst outfit you wore?
by outbackaussie inremember going to conventions during the mid 80's?
sisters all dolled up in lolly-wrapper dresses of sparly taffeta with balloon sleeves and brothers strutting about with shiny grey siuts with narrow lapels and black leather ties?
ooooh what a look that was!

A year in the life of a JW
by outbackaussie inhaving posted my account of growing up as a jw and subsequent departure, i decided to go back and read my diary from 1988...my pioneer year, i turned 16 lol .
it has been quite a laugh and i thought it may amuse some here, or at the very least provide some light relief from the mundane realities of life for a time :) so here are the best bits of january 1988 for your reading pleasure.
(for the sake of privacy i will only use first names) .

Some blurry recollections
by outbackaussie inhaving now read some other people's accounts of their life with jw, i thought i would be able to share my recollections, albeit blurred with the passage of time.. i wasn't always a jw, i celebrated xmas at the age of 4 in 1975. in 1976 my mum had joined the truth so we didn't have xmas that year.
mind you it didn't really seem that big a deal, my parents had divorced when i was 3 and mum didn't have wads of cash to buy presents with anyway.
we (mum, my brother and i) found shelter and comfort in a new "extended" family of brothers and sisters and life was good.. until my mother remarried when i was 10. a series of life-changing events rocked our world, but through those events the jw were still our "rock".

Newbie with question
by outbackaussie inbeen browsing around...and i have to say it is alittle difficult to tell if this is a pro or anti jw site.
any takers on filling me in on what the attitudes are around here?
it seems there are quite afew inactive and df or da people but then there seems to be alot of chat about meetings etc.. for the record, i was raised jw from age 5, baptised at 15 and df at 17 and reinstated at 18. i would call myself inactive...most of my family are still active but talk and associate with me.
