Explanation Of New Bible Translation
by Sofia Lose ini have been a little troubled with the explanation on the new world translation given during sunday's meeting.
the mag read that with less words the understanding would be more clear, and offered examples where certain texts had 27 words and now only have 19 words and the meaning is clearer.
i am not okay with said explanation.

This religion is going the way of the Catholic Church. They have the same levels of leadership, they state that if you do not follow and do as the GB say you will die. Catholics are taught if you do not do as the Pope says your going to hell. So like them too the religion is becoming less and less about the Bible and Bible doctrine, because this gets in the way of doing just what the GB want. The Catholics have done this for 1700 years so why not do the same. -

Specific Comments By R&F About May Broadcast
by freemindfade ini know there are many posts discussing the may money requesting televangalism...er... broadcast i mean!
but i wanted to start one where anyone can put what they have heard any non-exjw, non-apostate witnesses say good or bad about the broadcast.
i don't see how it can't rattle followers... but then again i might be surprised how they can twist things (2+2=5).

Driving Force, My wife got really depressed to the point where I had to take her to the hospital to make sure she was Ok. I later found a text on her phone from a day or so before about them getting together and including my only baptized child. The text didn't say much other then that, so I assuming they may have told her if she wanted to leave me she could. I since have not brought up anything to her about the cult or its practices. My plans have changed to strictly trying to wake as many of my children as possible. This will be a slow go but planting one seed at a time. -

The work is speeding up
by bradford ini don't have a great reference point on my observation other than my local area but i was wondering if this was a widespread thing.
... in the last two years in my former congregation there have been 6 people to disassociate for "apostasy," 6 disfellowshipped for various reasons, and numerous ones reproved.
these are just the ones i have heard about.

Selling off most of thier big properties, stealing KHs from the congregations, begging for money and incouraging babies to get baptised. Cutting back on paying for missionary work and having Gilead school grads assigned to cities in the USA. Not to mention the continued consolidation of congregations around the world as they sell off KHs. All this happening with in the last decade is a huge sign that they are loosing the ability to keep or attract paying members. Also as I mentioned since they no longer pushing the missionary work or at least will to pay for it, this tells me they don't care to recruit members from third world countries because there no profit in doing so. And if any new member here doubts the Borg only cares about profit then you should look at the posts concerning what happened in Mexicoconcerning thier r property rights. -

Read on Watchtower Documents how discarding types-antitypes impacts the very core doctrine of the “faithful and discreet slave” itself!
by AndersonsInfo inin the july 15, 1909 watch tower, c. t. russell said, we are loath to give any explanation of types not directly or indirectly referred to in the new testament.
" yet, during the next approximately 100-years, the organization russell founded didn't follow his footsteps but did the opposite until the march 15, 2015 watchtower magazine stated "no more.

They will pursue this the way they did with the 144k doctrine. All the other 144k especially and new ones since 1935 are mentally diseased just us here at bethel are fine. An elder can have just as much Holy Spirit as the anointed except us here in New York, we still get more. They will just speak out both sides of thier mouths and the rank and file will not question it because this is God's organization and whatever we say goes. -

Interesting Pew Stats on JWs--Alarming Trends for the Borg
by Cadellin insomeone may have linked to this already, but the this interactive page in the pew religion study is pretty interesting, especially when you look at the trends for jw between 2007 and 2014. here's what it shows:.
jws are increasingly non-white.
in fact, the percentage of white jws has decreased from 2007 to 2014 by 12%, while hispanic jws have increased by 8%.

Is 50k per household still considered lower end of the middle class? Seams to me with enflation etc. that this figure would be higher now. -

It was reported here on this forum that in the Seattle area a high level elder or CO told the one posting it that in the circuits of that area their loosing half a dozen members per circuit every six months. They also had an international assembly in Seattle last year and reported something like 70K in attendance the first day but by the pics it didn't look like it to me. -

Well, I asked a question and his answer blew me away
by Lost his mind infirst time, been lurking for years, but i asked my husband who has been studying for 20 plus years if he has ever questioned those that were "teaching" him.
blew my mind.
i ask him all the questions that you have asked yourself, but he will not ask them.

Welcome and yes its very amazing how people will just follow along never questioning a thing especially if the teaching or instructions come from an authority figure. -

The Divine Name in the NT: Some Reflections
by Let go of fear ini've been fascinated with this topic for some time now, almost to the point of obsession.
after researching the issue for several years, i have come to a conclusion/theory that i would love to receive some feedback on.
this theory of mine is one that will be somewhat unsettling to both those who believe the divine name was used in the original nt scripts as well as those who believe it wasn't.

The Name of the old testament God is never mentioned in the NT because they were writing about the evolution of Jesus starting out as the son of god and then becoming an almighty god. Jesus becomes the Alpha and Omega read the last couple of chapters of Revelations. This is almost an exact copy of what happens with the Babylonian gods Ea/Enki and his son Marduk. Marduk rises up among the gods and battles and defeats the dragon Tiamat. Jesus as we know does the same. In another story very similar involving the orginal gods of the Israelites Baal Hadad son of El also defeats a dragon Lotan goes on to defeat the god of the underworld called death Mot. Jesus also defeats death as well.
Both Hadad and Marduk get promoted by doing these acts, Marduk becomes king of the gods lord of lord the alpha and omega. He too becomes creator of the earth by cutting open Tiamat and making part of her the heavens and part of her the earth.
So the Jesus story is not about a trinity but a copy of the Marduk story, Jesus being elevated Just like Marduk was. No where does Marduk become his father neither does Hadad become EL.
More proof of this is in the old testament stories of Noah's flood and the Tower of Babel. In both stories its Enki/Ea Marduk's father that warns Gilgamesh/Noah and confuses the language at Babel.
