On Bart Ehrman's Blog+John's use of an early 'Signs document'
by TerryWalstrom inthe land of judea?
he then did signs in judea (3:22).
i think the greek is saying that this healing was jesus second sign, and he did this one after he had come from judea into galilee.

Terry u need to ask Bart why Jesus why did they pick this name. The gospel writers seamed big on having Jesus accomplish prophecies yet they don't call him Immanuel. So was the Greek word for Jesus used to tie him with another God or what? I know that some Jews worshiped a god known as Helios and the Christians from Alexander were pushing Serapis but I haven't connected the dots of why the name Jesus in Greek? -

Are JW's inflating their numbers?
by thedepressedsoul init can be anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes!
as long as you've had a literature discussion three times, you can start counting it as a study.
first, they say you can now count only 15 minutes a month.

The thing is there's probably more then 2 million but they are probably having to survive as if there was only this amount. Most JW's donate very little if anything at all. -

It was pretty traumatic for me learning it was all a fraud and I was only in my 40s. I think and 80 old would probably have a heart attack a die. I do know some 70 year olds that figured it out but it was a slow go for them and maybe easier for them to adjust. -

Was Jesus a real person?
by Coded Logic inwhy didn't jesus ever write anything?
why are there no letters to jesus?
no painting of jesus from that time?

There's some evidence that the life story of Jesus was modeled after Apolinius of Tiana and the god aspects were a copy of Serapis. Then the whole big picture was a copy of Marduks rising up to conquer the Dragon and becoming supreme God. -

There's a old gnostic writing that seams to indicate that there may have been a guy but there's know way to be sure. This writing seams to be from family member's and again like you said both James and Jude do not speak of Jesus as the son of god. -

I think the biggest inflation of numbers that matter is the number of JW's. When you take out the kids and husbands that go to just support thier stupid wives, there's less then I'd say 5 million real dubs. -

Type and Anti-Type, the killing of the Faithful and Discreet Slave. Whats thier angle and how do they spin out of this one?
by Crazyguy init would seam that the changing of the type anti-type teaching kills their claim as the faithful and discreet slave class as it is only a parable according to peter at luke 12:41. obviously i don't think they will ever come out and actually say that the f&ds is just a parable, so when one asks what will the answer be, to spin out of this obvious problem?.
also what do you think is the reason for the change in this teaching?
is it more to do with getting rid of doctrine that can be criticized or could it be that they are trying to make it as though they are really not in control of the congregations so as to say we aren't responsible when the prosecution comes knocking over future pedophile case?

Or some thing completely different? Last question, do you think they really thought it through when they decided to drop this type anti type teaching because it does really poke a major hole in their claim of being something they are not?

Just watched Truth be Told
by Introvert 2 injust watched truth be told, bought their fb promo deluxe version today !
am enjoying it and will share it with a friend soon.. one thing i've noticed is that of all the ones interviewed were born in and were active before the internet age.. i would think their situation would of been different today.
my experience having come in on my own as an adult 15 years ago was somewhat different, but made worst thanks to my own ocd and perfectionism.
