Historical Meanings of Sheol & Hades
by Perry infor those of you interested in getting to the bottom of the watchtower's teaching on sheol, hades, condition of the dead etc.
; this information is about as good as it gets.
the idea of consciousness after death was widely accepted from israel's earliest times, contrary to what the watchtower would have its members believe.. the lexicographical evidence is so clear that the great princeton scholar, b. b. warfield; stated that with modern hebrew scholars, there is no hesitation to allow with all heartiness that israel from the beginning of its recorded history cherished the most settled conviction of the persistence of the soul in life after death.

I wish there was more information on this. All the surrounding cultures believed in an underworld so its obvious that the Jews did to but the bible and many of their other writings are to vague for proof it would seem. -

slam her with 1 corith. chapters 1, 3 and 11 I believe, these chapter say that your leaders don't matter at all and that we should not be slaves of men. Ask her how they, her leaders are not going beyond what is written. Then pull out your Greek interlinear and show her in revelation chapter 5:10 in the Greek side where it states that they will reign not as kings but only as priests and not over the earth but on it, then go back to the scripture in Corinthians about going beyond what is written. -

Debating evolution, intelligent design and cosmology with a JW
by Thestumbler83 inive been having an email exchange with a jw family member and the discussion seem to have become a bit heated and im not quite sure why.
i dont think ive said anything obviously offensive and ive been very careful with my wording.
but i think im sometimes a bit tone deaf with these things.

Go back to basics and show him a picture of that chicken where they turned on a part of its dna and grew a tooth, then discuss the evidence of that lizard or gecko in Florida that evolved after they introduce another lizards in to its ecosystem. Maybe you have done this already but its hard to argue against proof. -

Whose God are you worshipping??
by Crazyguy inin the early writings of the bible its mentioned that the israelites worshiped false gods, gods of the stars and other celestial bodies.
ezekiel even bloviates against this in his writings and king josiah is said to have abolish these practices.
jeremiah mentions that god would even destroy the city were sun worship was being practiced a place called bethshemesh in egypt.

I forgot to mention that this city of Tanis also had other names one being Zoan, Jerusalem has been said to be the city with the name Zion. Interesting the similarities or did the cities designation just get moved to another city and the name changed a bit? The city Of Tanis is said to be founded by the Hyksos and Josephus or Menetho can't remember which one stated after they were finally pushed out of Egypt they settled in Jerusalem. -

Oh my God, I now have proof that Adam was made from dust.
by James Mixon inbro.
e. soriano set matters straight for me.. you people alleged that the creation of adam is an "anti-scientific nonsense; and god did not.
create adam from a handful of dust, like the bible says, (ok maybe a bucket full).

ISIS Destruction of Ancient Palmyra Temple
by freemindfade inanyone who has read what happened here, both to the ancient site and also the grizzly murder of antiquity scholar khalid asaad, consider this.
what religious/theocracy on earth now most resembles the stories of "god's chosen people" of the old testament?
probably isis does.

Another update, if one looks at the temple of AMUN-RA at the Egyptian city of Tanis it has two columns at the entrance, followed by another room or two then going in to the last room at the back called the holy of holyies. Out side the temple was a lake. This temple faced east. One will find that the other temples in Egypt to the God Amun like the one at Karnak are very similar. There is also a temple in Syria at Arn Dara which is also very similar.
So whats the big deal one may ask, we'll if one examines the descriptions of the temple of Solomon one will find it is almost an exact copy of the temple at Tanis it also has 33 similarities with the temple at Arn Dara. Solomons temples inner room is the Holy of holyies and also has a large container of water out side much like the small pond at Tanis. So the question should be asked if jehovah is the God of the Israelite and is the God most high and not a pagan God then why did he have Solomon build his temple to be almost an exact replica of a pagan foreign God?

Why did Ray Franz leave the Organization? Your Opinion Matters!
by SanLuisObispoTruthSeeker inwhat would make a man throw away all his earthly riches to expose the cult?
what did ray franz have to gain by leaving in total poverty?
if ray franz had stayed in place, he could have lived like a god, why did he leave?

I met the person that wrote the insight books and was involved with other books and writings in the writing department he may have even helped Ray on the Aid book. Anyway he related that a major witch hunt took place in the early 80s an inquisition took place and any person suspected of have thoughts outside the teaching of the Borg were attacked. Now this came about because of two reasons first many thinking JW's had issues with the teaching in 1979 that Jesus was only the mediator for the 144k and rumors had gone around about the inability of Ray and his staff unable to find any evidence of the destruction in 607 of Jerusalem.
It was related to me that most thinking JW's at bethel either were kicked out or left themselves asap.

I think the even better news is people who are awake are talking. I think in the old days people just left and most kept their mouths shut. Now a specially the young ones once they know ttatt they speak out. This will continue to add to the momentum, hopefully soon more Baptisted will be leaving then young ones getting dunked.
