Didn't go to memorial this year
by silent inmy wife and i had business to attend to out of town today and i had thought if we made it back home in time, we'd go to the memorial.
as it turned out, we didn't get home in time and we missed it, but we had a real good talk with each other on the way home.
we are largely successful faders and at the very least, i like to try and make the memorial.

Every time I start thinking of going back to meeting so as to maybe be in a better situation to slowly free my kids From The cult I start getting a headache and it progressively gets worse. I feel your pain. -

Evolution vs Creationism.
by Labate inperhaps this has been discussed in the past, but i can't help noticing that on many posts creation vs evolution seems to equal theist vs atheist.
granted, a creationist by defination would have to believe in a creator.
on the other hand, believing in evolution doesn't automatically make one an atheist, a small point perhaps, but i think it would be more accurate to say believer vs nonbeliever.. just sayin'..

I think it's possible a diety could have created the universe, the material that was needed for matter and the power to create the big bang. He could have also went around to planets planting seeds of DNA and the things needed to start life. Now he's kicking back and watching it all. He is indifferent to what happens to life on each planet he seeded just studying the whole thing. Its possible.
I believe in evolution and am not an atheist because it is possible.

Is this a site controlled by atheists?
by The Rebel inunder the exterior of being an ex- witness site, is this site simply converting atheism?.
i pose the question, because many come here in distress and insecurity with the realization that the w.t is wrong but still retain a belief in god.
my personal opinion is the threads on god are not challenged by an atheists personal animosity to believers, they are challenged and become confrontational because the atheist wants an elaboration and factual proof to a believers faith.. is this unreasonable?

Many here when awakend start thinking and asking questions this Leeds down the rabbit hole of knowledge. For most the end result is athiesm and a belief in evolution. I once believed in the tooth fairy and Santa. Religion is for the ignorant. -

2016 Memorial Done & Dusted
by steve2 inwell on this side of the planet, the southern hemisphere/ new zealand, the 2016 memorial service in local kingdom halls will be over for another year.
another great big anticlimax.
some family and relatives will have gone - but unless i ask my sister, i generally have no idea about attendance and partaker numbers.

I wish someone would just get up a yell "since anyone who partakes is considered metally diseased no one's going to partake so as to be labeled so why waste time passing around the bread and wine?" -

...the relief of Congregation Members
by Lostandfound injust clearing out all old stuff and came across tyhis line in my copy of the uk memorandum of constitution, passed by each uk cong in (i think) 1997).
this line bemused me as i know of no witness who ever receiver financial help from their congregation.
clause 4.2.4 read for other charitable purposes including the relief of congregation members who are in conditions of need hardship or distress.

In the cong. I grew up in a family needed help so the members have a whole bunch of food and probably some cash. In my last cong. there was a find to help people in need and I knew one that got help. I dont think this fund exists anymore because someone needed help badly a year ago and no cong. money was offered up. -

What most people don't realize is the story makes it sound as though god is giving men these amazing new laws for people to govern themselves yet these same laws already existed Hammurabi's laws and the Egyptian neg-confessions. -

Well I spilled it to the elders (elder)
by HowTheBibleWasCreated inan elder came over for a visit the other night (he couldn't get a partner) personally i consider him a friend and have revieiled many things to him an figured the tie has come to step out of this religion slowly.. well i finally told him i have no believe in the bible (other then the confirmed history in it) or god.
i did it slowly and tactfully and even non-agressive.. his response to learning i believe in evolution was that evolution doesn't happen now i respectfully disagreed and pointed out lactose and alcohol tolerance among the last thousand years as well as tibetian lung/hearts.
he refused to believe it.

Who Selected the Canon? Does “The Watchtower” Tell Us the Whole Story?
by Doug Mason inat pages 27 to 29 of its article, does the bible tell us the whole story about jesus?, “the watchtower” of april 1, 2010 discusses the subject: “who selected the canon?”.
the watch tower claims that professor oskar skarsaune and professor kenneth berding provide support for its contention that the list of christian greek scriptures was a product of some first-century christians who were endowed with “superhuman abilities”, and that the canon was not established in the second century..
does “the watchtower” tell the whole story on who selected the canon?.

In the end they teach you have to be apart of the organization of Jehovah's witnesses and follow the leaders the self proclaimed faithful and discreet slave. The bible say all who believe in Christ are saved and the faithful and discreet slave is just a parable Luke 12:41. It would be best for you to stop studying with them. We should know we once were them.
