Well maybe the term they used back then was either different or they had the wrong definition to the term themselves. But all these practices were wrong back then, even chiropractic may have been questionable back then.

Demonizes medical techniques and jws
by Crazyguy inso i remember in the 70s and 80s kenisalogy ( spelled wrong) was talked about as being demonized and wrong.
for those of you not familiar with the term it was used to describe alternative medical techniques used by some.
these could include massage techniques for healing, acupuncture, cranial sacral , aroma therapy, acupressure, etc etc... so my daughter has been dealing with a very painful condition and western medical has only one solution which is a bad one so we have been searching and using some of these other types of medical treatment along with a couple of others that are unique and would maybe fall under the umbrella of this term.

Anyway it's amazing how many JWs are getting treatments and practicing these types of medical procedures. Three different medical message techniques using three different providers working for three different firms are Jws working on my daughter. More then one member of my wife's congregation is using medical marijuana. One of these firms is owned by JWs.
Its crazy to think that these people are all practicing a medical art form that would attract demons or is demonized according to the Cult. I was discussing my daughters condition with the wife of one of the therapists and she was commenting on the whole holistic approach she likes to think is the way to approach many medical problems of today. And her husbands technique is based on the Chinese idea of chakras and body energy. THIS is totally demonized medical practices according to the cult am I Wrong? Crazy how things have changed!!

My Thoughts on the Subject of Faith
by Saethydd ini've had several discussion about the basis for faith in an all powerful creator for the universe, and it seems as if the conversation often comes back to, "well, either way, you have to have faith either in a creator or in the process of evolution because you can't observe that either.
" setting aside the issue of creation and evolution (where i currently sit at undecided), i was also troubled by the tendency to treat faith as a static or absolute concept when in reality it is far more complex.. to begin with, faith isn't just about belief, it combines the concepts of belief and trust.
for the purposes of this discussion, i will be focusing primarily on the second attribute.

My Dad wants to study with me
by BlackWolf inso my parents continue to pester me about getting baptized.
the other day my dad told me that i was old enough to make a decision, and was wondering why i wasn't ready (assembly is in a few weeks) so i told him calmly that i have many doubts and if i were to get baptized it has to be 100 percent my idea.
he was a little annoyed by this, and now wants to study the "is there a creator that cares about you" book (which is complete bs) with me.

Study but find ways to ask those tuff questions that he can't answer. Do it in the best way you know how not to piss him off to badly.

Believer go look up one of my earliest threads where I completely blow up using scripture the belief that only the 144k are anointed through Christ and go to heaven. The scriptures clearly state that all who believe in Christ are gods sons and are of the anointing of Christ.
But on a more serious note this Christ your speaking of is actually Serapis and the ideas of anointing, and baptism are from Egypt originally. Almost all Christian beliefs are taken from Egypt.

I was watching one of the Scientology shows and a person mentioned that in the late 70 the religion was all the rage with about 150,000 members. Now it's said they have less then 50k . So it is possible that a cult like the jws can loose a lot of members.
Personally I think the cult lost a lot of the umph after the 1995 change in the generation teaching. No only did a lot of people leave but a lot just have never taken the cult very seriously anymore. Not to mention the numbers are a total lie anyway.

I think Obama care would of made it easier for the jws at bethel , since the health care plan is based on income. Also there nothing in the law that forces any corporations or cults to provide medical insurance to thier help.

REVEALED: The number of Bethelites over the years
by darkspilver inin response to this thread.
i've put forward the argument that i believe that the 'organization' is financially effectively bleeding itself dry - it is actually financially imploding.. i believe that over the last 45 or so years, in particular, it has evolved from a relatively 'lean machine' into what is now a huge unwieldy organization.
as an organization grows i would expect increased efficiency through by both economies of scale, and advances in technology.. how has the watchtower organization fared?....

Yeah but Stan can we really believe the numbers? They count baptisms every year like there additions to the cult when in all reality they are just those converting from publishers to baptised. So what are the real numbers, with all the different accounting methods used now it's hard to tell. I think one of the main reason other then lawsuits thier selling off everything is do to this.
Someone finally told the higher ups that the number of ones still in that can afford to give them money is down way down I think.
