Reading other Christians opinions on bible subjects really got the ball rolling for me. When their ideas made more sense and could be backup by the Bible unlike the JWs that was the beginning of the end for me. Only came to sites like this place after I realized they stole the mediator from me and the other JWs.

Did you ever have a discussion with an apostate that helped your journey out.
by jwfacts inthere seems to be a number of different ways that apostates try to get jehovah's witnesses realise they do not have the truth, ranging from subtle comments to aggressive attacks.
do you have any that looking back helped you finally leave.
some of the methods include:.

2017 Conventions
by Maryo inin view of the terrorist attacks going on in the world right now, as well as the high degree of animosity towards jehovah's witnesses as a result of their shuning practices, etc., i think it would be wise for the wts to discontinue meeting for large conventions and use live streaming and broadcasts instead.
even with the increased security measures being put in place this year, it would not be surprising if some incidents take place.
has anyone heard any talk in this regard?.

Not going to happen like someone else already mentioned they make money off of those.

Have Jehovah's Witnesses Become Boring?
by David_Jay inokay, that new video about 1975 has got people talking, and yes, the child abuse cases will always require us to remain vigilant...but after my having left in the late 1980s/early 1990s, it seems all the real "exciting" stuff is gone.
when i left the witnesses were still preaching that the "generation that was old enough to understand the events of 1914" will not pass away before armageddon comes.
no blood cards were our badges (not that stupid jw logo) and that card meant what it said, "no blood"!

They were always boring but like you mentioned back then we were focused because we ne that This Generation would by no means pass away before the end came, it was the creators promise.
With out this promise the cult and the people in it are now just moving about nilly willy.

Humourous reactions to beards worn at the kingdom Hall
by UnshackleTheChains inis this the reaction you get when you walk into a kingdom hall sporting your new beard 🙄.

What I think is funny is in the early 80s you couldn't have a beard but a mustache was ok. Well at the same time having a mustache was code in the gay community that you too were gay.

Has the Bible been redacted so that YAHWEH can be promoted to EL's position as Almighty God?
by I_love_Jeff infor background, read: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/yahweh, the section, "iron age i: el, yahweh, and the origins of israel.
" "el and his sons made up the assembly of the gods, each member of which had a human nation under his care, and a textual variant of deuteronomy 32:8–9 describes the sons of el, including yahweh, each receiving his own people.
"el, the kind, the compassionate,' 'the creator of creatures,' was the chief of the canaanite gods, and he, not yahweh, was the original 'god of israel'—the word 'israel' is based on the name el rather than yahweh.

The laws they do relish also can be found in Hammurabi's rules and that of another ruler before him. The Egyptians had laws and rules very similar as well. Sorry to say David_jay but your religion isn't very original.

Jackson's rose colored watch only cost $399, don't use it as an argument.
by Bad_Wolf ini looked up that watch and see it for $399.

Yeah I think these watches started off expensive then came down. But yeah 400 hundred for a watch is a lot for most people and very expensive for most JWs

The thing is we can read in the Bible descriptions of the god Yahweh that mirror that of El and then Baal Hadad. There are also writings in the Bible that mirror writtings about Marduk.
Lets also not forget that the temple of Solomon is a copy of some of those found in Egypt. Some of the writtings in the book of proverbs are from the writtings of Amenope. The Noah's flood story comes from an older story from Sumeria same with the book of Job.
The Bible is clearly a collection of other writer stories and ideas. The same can be said with the gods in the Bible. Writtings in the Bible are talking about and describing different gods all through out. Genesis describing gods like that of Anu, Enlil, Enki etc. other books are describing EL , Baal . The Bible writers are even making a clear connection with Baal to Yahweh when talking about his mountain and then mount Zion.
Judaism is a collection of beliefs from all the countries that surrounded them and conquered them. Then Christianity does the same. The similarities between their beliefs and that found in ancient Egypt are astounding.

Canaanites started off worshipping El then in time moved to Baal Hadad for he was a fertility deity. Yahweh absorbed the likenesses of both. Other groups did the same. The Assyrians worshipped Anu then switched primarily to Enlil.
There are also writtings in the Bible that can be originally attributed to Marduk. The seven tablets of the enuma elish are found in Genesis and other books of the Bible. Marduk absorbed 50 gods and thier powers , Yahweh has done much of the same. Let's not forget many of the stories in the Bible the bases for these stories can be found in the same city as they found the god EL , Ugarit.

Why are the human judges of Israel going to "die like Adam"?
by I_love_Jeff inmany jehovah's witnesses and other christians believe that psalm 82 is referring to human judges.
my question is this: .
how is this a form of punishment if in fact these are merely human judges who were already going to die?

I'll have to check out your links but the 70 maybe referring to the 70 created gods of El. The Elohim or sons of god which is what the Angels are really. The book of Enoch mentions 4 angels that were good so to speak, Michael being one of them. Micheal, Gabriel, Raphael and one other. These also maybe the ones mentioned as the 4 hourseman in the book of Revelations.
