  The First Flood Story - How Much Do You Know About It?

  you may have heard that before the genesis document (of the bible) was written there was a flood story circulating in west asia.. if your short of time, here's a 5 minute video by irving finkel discussing a flood story document written in cuneiform.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbfr-9us31k.

  of course, the christian argument may be that the bible had the original (truthful) version and the cuneiform story came later.

  but that's so difficult to prove.

  Experts in the field claim that the writings found in Sumer were much older then anything that’s ever been written in the Bible. Another think to consider is if Moses was alive around 1500 BCE then what language did he write his writings in because the form of Hebrew used wasn’t around yet. Also did Moses travel to Sumer because most of the stories found in Genesis were found there but none mention a god Jehovah.

  Its also interesting that Moses was born then put into a basket and floated down a river yet this had already been done by Sargon’s mother and another woman in India with her son.

  Unfortunately this action by her and the note she left will just be used by the JWs as proof that you shouldn’t leave their cult. Nothing in the details about her sexual abuse or anything that could show that their teachings and actions could have drove her to this end.

  two books that i purchased recently for my research into the latter centuries bce open in similar fashion, having to explain the use of the term, "hebrews' scriptures".

  Doesn’t WT have all the events backwards from what the Bible says concerning the tribulation and the end times? Doesn’t the tribulation start first then all the other crap not the other way around like they say?

  i can understand the clergyman being so baptist that he'd still use the name jehovah since it was popular in english and german churches for a long time during and after the reformation, but 607?.

  The Millerites got thier ideas and so did Russell from John Aquila Brown s book The Even Tide.

  Maybe john wrote that Jerusalem was destroyed in 606 or 607. Bottom line Nebuchadnezzar didn’t even take over from his father until 605. Houston we have a problem.

  i had a deep conversation with my elder father today about the bible.

  first i talked to him about luke 16:19-31. the one where jesus makes this crazy illustration regarding the afterlife.

  of course he had to look it up on the watchtower library to be spoon fed his beliefs.

  They really don’t, got into an argument with and elder over jesus not being his mediator. About two weeks later he came around and apologized as I was right but yeah their better at spouting off scriptures for certain biblical doctrines they believe in over the average publishers but that’s about it.

  They also don’t want to deal with thinking people as they kept pushing me off and then told me to go talk to a pioneering brother at the nieghboring congregation he new his shit. After taking with him a time or two I realized he just walked around with copies of subjects printed right out of the insight books.

  spoke to my younger brother dan yesterday (he da'd about 6 months ago).

  he was telling me that he got a visit from our older brother the day before.

  our older brother was raised a jw but never committed, lives a full-on "worldly" life - smokes, binge drinks, hangs out with non-jws, but he's been studying for about 6 years would you believe?.
