Eventually another comet or large asteroid is going to hit the planet and kill off most life. This is a certainty, unless man can stop it.

Despite their false predictions aren't the JWs right? Won't the world eventually end & Paradise come?
by deegee inaren't there christian denominations who do not make false end of the world predictions but who nevertheless believe that the world will eventually end and paradise (whether in heaven or on earth) will come?.
it seems the watchtower was just jumping the gun when they made false end of the world predictions but they are nevertheless the right: the world will eventually end and paradise will come..

What is "The Truth" which the Jehovah's Witnesses are really missing ?
by Finkelstein ini personally think the truth which the jws are missing all together is that the wts has devised and constructed a doctrinal gospel (1914) specifically to assist toward the proliferation of the literature of which this organization publishes itself.
they allure people with them then exploit these ones further in the distribution of those pieces of literature all while stamping the information as bible truths.
i see jws as well controlled robotic sales representatives for this unscrupulous religious publishing house.

Update to: As a Matter of Conscience, I Am Resigning from the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses
by Sail Away ini just had a two-hour doctor's appointment (treatment for branch retinal vein occlusion) that requires screenings, scans, dilation, anesthetic and injection, etc.
this makes it necessary to spend a lot of time in the waiting room..
my former p.o., book study conductor and later field service overseer was there and greeted me in a friendly way.

wt on a slide, " 1914's generation is not only overlapping, but also composite.
by prologos indoctrines projected by wt writers can be compared to the slides in the old carousel slide shows, the jw audience was kept in the dark, but the next images' bright filtered new light had their rapt attention.
often these doctrine images came around again but modified, often totally changed, turned upside down.
think superior authorities, resurrection ----, .

Knock knock."Who's there? Two elders!!
by Darkknight757 inso today was a cold and snowy day in my neck of the woods and the wife and i were just chilling around the house waiting to go to the church tonight for a candle lighting service when lo and behold we get a knock on the door.
yup, 2 elders from my old hall.
i figured they were fishing for some time so i invited them in and gave them some coffee and we talked about everything that happened and why we walk away from the jw's.

Possible new light on 70 years
by Saltheart Foamfollower ini may be reading more into this than is there, but here is what i've spotted from today's watchtower study (oct 2016 study edition) page 14 paragraph 8. concerning daniel it says "thus, some 70 years after his arrival in babylon, he was still known by his hebrew name" referring to an event in the first year of darius ie 539/538 bce.
however, according to the wtbts chronology daniel went to babylon in 617 bce - more like 80 years earlier.
could this (finally) be a step towards ditching 607?.

In the original writings the year was 606 BCE based on the capture of the king of Jerusalem. I don't know when they changed it to the destruction of Jerusalem. Anyway pretty soon they'll have to move the whole thing forward like they did with the rulership of Jesus.

Why Is The Governing Body Moving Corporation Headquarters Out In The Boonies Away From Public Veiw?
by Brokeback Watchtower ini think the decision to move to a more secluded place was probably started taking shape right after silentlambs march at headquarters in clear public view of their neighbors.
i mean how do you respectively live something like this down in front of all those neighbors close by?
that's why i think they are heading for the boonies because deep down they know that their public reputation will only go from bad to worse at this late date of the faithful & discreet slave of god con game.

Someone posted a day or two ago that the number of congregations in Germany is way down. The reality is except maybe in Africa the number of jws is falling. I think only about 10% of each congregation has any real zeal for the crap, everyone else may still be believers but have no real zeal. I saw this first hand the last few meetings I went to. The watchtowers of the brothers and sisters were mostly not studied and few answered at the meetings.
But I digress Jehovah is still blessing the Borg , for he had them move to a prime spot of real estate next to a beautiful lake on top of a toxic waste dump.

"I'm firm in my beliefs": Hypocrisy and Delusion
by schnell ini have a friend who said he'll have to stop listening to me after i told him about yahweh's origins in canaanite religion, because he's firm in his beliefs.. i have a mother who said she goes to the meetings even if it's wrong, and i should too.
she is also firm in her beliefs.. i have talked to an elder about evolution, and as i made the case for it and against creationism, he said that at some point i have to decide that there is a creator.
he too is firm in his beliefs.. all of these people will also talk about going out in service.

The fact is people that have strong religious beliefs are usually very ingnorant. Let's consider the fact that theres a bunch of prophecies in the Bible that didn't come true and most Christians don't even know it. All one can do is try to educate the ignorant and if it doesn't work then move on.

Elder wants to stop by with the CO for a visit .
by NikL inso i got a text from an elder who i consider one of the good guys and a friend in his own way.. he asked if he could bring the co by for a visit.
he said it would be "just a pleasant call and visit and will hopefully encourage my wife".
he says that "he knows she is dealing with a ton of pressure".. in all my years around the organization, i never had a visit from the circuit overseer.

Yeah it won't go well for you. Once a brother has checked out they go after the wife and kids and basically treat you as if you don't exist, dead man walking. Keep them away and hopefully away from your wife too. It's hard though they'll just meet with her behind your back.
