The Internet and Apostasy
by CakeMonkey inhas the internet and forums like these caused an exodus from the j-dubs?
when i left in the early 1990s i met support groups through the yellow pages but it still felt like i was the only one in the world who was an apostate.
i've come to this forum in the last year to browse because my brother has now left.

JW's and interracial marriage?
by c.dawn inmy nephew a jw who is white is dating another jw who is black with the intent to announce their engagement soon.. i had been reading about the past history of the jw's opinion of the black race.
old writings that said they were gods people too, but not intelligent as white etc and not qualified intellectually to go door to door to teach etc.that all people would be white in the new system.. i had read of a rope being run down the pews of the fellowship halls to separate the races during services during the 50's early 60's at the halls that did allow intergrated services... this was supposed to have taken place even up to a few years after de-segregation in the schools and other public places took effect.. that in some areas they had their own hall to meet at and the whites had theirs.
at one point the members of the black hall had asked to meet at the white hall as their building was being repaired or soemthing and they were told no, that some of the members of the white hall wouldn't understand or approve.. and i read that even up into the late 90's, many black members still weren't being given postions or responsibilities that whites had held since the beginning of the jw's.. i was just wondering how far they've come along to improve this image and if anyone knows thier opinion of interracial marriages.

Where did you read this? I've never come across anything like this.
My experience as a JW does not include any prejudices due to color. Other things like dress and financial status, but not color.

Pete:
Other early traditions identify the disciple who Jesus loved as Mary Mag. There is some evidence within the synoptics that this relationship has been edited out reidentifying his loved one as a male and his marriage feast as for another couple. It has been proposed that the last supper scene went more like this:

I would also challange him to supply you with ONE source other than the WT that claims 607bce to be the destruction date of Jerusalem.
Check out www.607v587.com for some good thoughts as how to present this.

I *try* to think: "Are children dying?" - If not then the situation isn't that bad and I work up from there.
Also "One out Baseball" - Let's make sure we get one out on every play.
From another thread BillyGoat gave this "Hint"
If a male coworker of mine tried to hug me from behind, he'd be getting a well-positioned heel in the groin!

Strange Coke ad
by meat pie inhello all, here in the uk at the moment, we have the coca cola ad that has the woman walking down some steps singing 'i wish i could...' and handing out opened bottles of coke to passersby.
well during the ad there are 2 separate ,bright double flashes of light.
at normal speed they appear to be coming from her earings, but when recorded and played slowly with the pause button they are actually coming from under/behind a parked car in the near background.i doubt if they are there by accident.. they are a bit disturbing.. has anyone else seen this, and what do you make of it, or have i just been reading too many conspiracy books?.

What is your Favorite Scene from a Movie?
by Sweetp0985 ini thought about this topic last night for the board when watching one of my favorite movies.. 1. the man from snowy river- the part when they are going after the expensive colt and they get to the edge of the cliff and all the other riders stop and "jim" keeps going and leaps down the cliff after the wild horses.
i absolutely love that part of the movie...everytime its on i have to watch it, if not just to see this part only.. 2. love and basketball- when she tells him she will play for his heart...awwww first time i started crying.
and then the music they had playing in the background made it even worse.

TC:
"You exist to serve this ship. Row well and live..." The expression "Row well and live" was later introduced by me at an Elder?s meeting during a CO visit when publisher?s hours (or lack there of) was being considered....the CO was not amused...
Oh but I am. Good job.
