A video for kids ( and adults) about conformity/non-conformity

when i was a kid i absolutly loved the video "the point" and bought the musical album (neilsson)and loved that as well.

the theme of that cartoon video and even the album is all about living in the land of absolute conformity in the land of point with no concieved choice but to conform.

it is about a little ( round headed) kids journy through the pointless forest ( he was banished after a trial for not having a point) and finally the end of the story ( it really comes out in the middle with the rock man) that you don't have to have a point to have a point.. now that is a video with great music that i think helps kids recognise the pointlessness of absolulte conformity.. maybe its just my love for the story and music but i think it is a great teaching story as well.. it's on you tube in great resolution in entirety with both ringo starr narrating and also one with dustin hoffman.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xjfkteuba_s.

How successful we're quickly builds in your area

i remember hearing about quickly builds how this was a sign of jehovah's spirit that the kh could be built in 3 days.

but what i am wondering is just how successful we're these builds.

i can think of a couple of halls that were built by the quickly built methods that i would suspect they would of lost money on.

Ours was very successful--a cute little brick building, all landscaped and all. We've scrimped and saved for many years for one, a nice piece of valuable property was donated by a couple of friends. Then in 2010, all the brothers and sisters descended on a couple of nice weekends in the fall for the "quick build". We all had a good time. The volunteers were tired because they did lots of work at Nashville when the Cumberland River flooded the banks. Now back to our hall. In the late 60's, brothers and sisters moved down from Chicago and other places to get the Truth(tm) established here. They put up a humble, wood sided building and meetings were held in it. In time it was expanded and remodeled a little. Now finally, we got our new, lovely Kingdom Hall. But not so fast. Two years later, the Society decided they wanted it so we have been politely asked to move to neighboring halls. They are making final preparations for the 'takeover' I call it, as I write.

I love to read Blondie's "Comments You Will Not Hear at the WT Study" series. This one was so funny. Thank goodness I wasn't there today as I always hated these Watchtower lessons. Seems like they are getting a little more women friendly compared to the years past though.

Yes, that's right, Gayle. Back in the 80's sometime, we were assigned to St Louis to the open air baseball stadium. A spiritual sister, my 2 boys, and myself drove all that way, and it was so hot in St. Louis that week! Being new in the truth (tm), and inexperienced at sitting all day long in the hot sun, we didn't take any umbrellas or containers for water. The Sister and one of my sons got heat sick, if there is such a word. They were moved to under the bleachers. My other son and I toughed it out. My sons were so happy to see all the baseball memorabelia there at that particular convention. I'm glad of that.

Seems like the GB then weren't concerned for the rank and file's health or well-being, and they aren't now. But, thankfully, the days for attendance have been shortened and they are indoors. Praise Jah for that.
