If he really used the term "false prophecies" (even assuming that he's quoting critics such as apostates) he's admitting, at least tacitly, that jws do have a history of false predictions. By saying "we don't go by those anymore" he's in effect making the same admission.

magazine supply reduction
by agent zero inat the meeting tonight was read a letter to all congregations in canada.
it explained that since most publishers end up with left-over public edition magazines that didn't get placed at the end of each month, they will now no longer continue to have an individual magazine order per publisher.
instead, the entire congregation's supply of service edition magazines will be in a stack at the back of the kh, and they are to be taken according to need, with whatever is left over after service to be put back in the stack.

I felt exactly the same. I often wondered what people would think of the articles in the WT that dealt with congregation matters, and often felt embarrased to place them.

I've been out a nearly a decade, but one thing I haven't done is start using foul language. I do think the occasional 'f-bomb' is funny, when properly placed (not used every-other-word). I've just decided not to curse. Interestingly, a female relative of mine who is a staunch jw uses foul language, and I heard plenty of it when I played sports with jw men back in the day.

Interesting thread...
Let's face it: when it comes to maintaining friendships, many humans, both jws and non-jws, are of the out-of-sight, out-of-mind variety. If someone is not brought in front of us on a regular basis whether via the meetings, work, or whatever, we often tend to lose touch. It's the nature of human friendships, because effort is required to maintain the friendship when those people/that person is no longer right in front of us.
The OP worked hard to cultivate friendships. But it seems as though you made all the effort. It was easy for others to be your friends - just come over as invited, eat your food, hang at your house. Easy. Once you moved from the congregation, it was no longer easy for them. They certainly are not inclined to make the effort to contact you. It looks like you put forth most of the effort to begin with; it's not surprising that now they seemingly have no memory (at least in their actions) of all the things you did for them.

To All Elders/MS's/ Publishers Who Come Here
by metatron inin the past, you were told that you have the opportunity to prove the devil a liar.
this is a nonsensical claim, given that about 2000 years of martyrdom by christians has already passed.
there's nothing left to prove or disprove.. however, you have the opportunity to prove that the watchtower society is lying: that their organization is unclean and overrun with corruption - as proven by an endless stream of elders/ms's and publishers who come here, wishing that they could leave.. you also have the opportunity to prove that their published statistics are false - by reporting fake hours and placements.. if they don't like it, too bad.

A few Dawkins quotes to think about.
by AK - Jeff in"faith is the great cop-out, the great excuse to evade the need to think and evaluate evidence.
faith is belief in spite of, even perhaps because of, the lack of evidence.".
"my last vestige of "hands off religion" respect disappeared in the smoke and choking dust of september 11th 2001, followed by the "national day of prayer," when prelates and pastors did their tremulous martin luther king impersonations and urged people of mutually incompatible faiths to hold hands, united in homage to the very force that caused the problem in the first place.".

"In a universe of electrons and selfish genes, blind physical forces and genetic replication, some people are going to get hurt, other people are going to get lucky, and you won't find any rhyme or reason in it, nor any justice. The universe that we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design, no purpose, no evil, no good, nothing but pitiless indifference"
This portion of the quote especially does it for me.
I was watching the news last night, about the tornado that devastated Joplin, Mo. One guy who survived said he did so because of his "faith in God". So while others around him perished, he credited his faith.
But did this man display more faith than his less fortunate neighbors? Seriously, such a comment is as deluded as they come. As Dawkins said, this was clearly as case of randomness, with no rhyme, reason, or justice. It was simply nature at its most brutal.

I've Decided That It'll Be Best For Me To Return To The Kingdom Hall.
by Philadelphia Ponos inafter carefully evaluating the my current life situation, i've come to the conclusion that returning to the hall will be best for me.
i simply just don't fit in with the rest of the world.
i don't drink, smoke, have sex, go to clubs, listen to worldly music, watch movies, or gamble.

You're thinking of buying a gun and using it? You've got more problems than the Kingdom Hall can solve, bud.
