I thought "died" was going to be the next word when I clicked on the subject heading.

Hey fellas, as you got older, into your early 30s, did you start finding women between their late 30s and late 40s attractive?
by miseryloveselders insomedays my dad would look at what i still call an older woman, and he'd call her attractive.
i'd look at him like dude your nuts.
i'm thinking just cuz your older doesn't mean its wrong to find younger women attractive.

Women in their 30s, 40s and 50s can look great. I've seen many, and I work with several. In fact, I think it's a credit to them and makes them even more attractive because after having babies and raising them and all that, they loook so good. Plus I look at it this way: anybody can look great when they're young - hot young women are a dime a dozen. But a woman who looks hot into her 30s, 40s and beyond is usually taking care of herself and deserves credit for that.

BIG WEEKEND JW NEWS STORY EXPOSES HEARTLESS CULT
by West70 inthe following newspaper article appears to be the original (and more lengthy and indepth) article from which associated press took their "summarized" (and less informative) story which is being picked up by a number of television stations and newspapers across the u.s. .
this better version should be forwarded to media outlets as a more informative version for their audience.
they also embrace political neutrality.

We all know that fighting in wars is against jw beliefs. Fine. But the parents still could have at least met their sons upon their arrival. That doesn't in itself mean that they support war - they are simply welcoming their boys home. The parents are taking shunning to the extreme. Many jw parents will see their DA'd/DF'd sons and daughters under far less trying circumstances.

Eyes Wide Shut pointed out " the problem with rejecting war outright is that at times it is necessary to defend agaisnt evil. The WT does not understand this. By making this statement any crazy loonatic would just be able to run rampant all over the world and people would just let it happen. I suppose to a JW to not fight Hitler was something God would have wanted rather than combat his evil plans. Their logic here is not sound. War and the participation in war is a necessary evil."
I agree; and had things been done the jw way from 1939-45, we'd all be living under the reign of the Third Reich.
I've heard talks in which elders intimated that Jehovah's will was carried out by the Allied forces. How could that be, when on principle He is supposedly opposed to all human warfare? Which is it? They want to have their cake and eat it too.
And had the Allies not fought Hitler, pograms against jws would have been launched the world over.

"Jacksonville @ Dallas(Jags suck worse than the Cowgirls)"
The Jags have been very difficult to guage for years. They'll look like world-beaters, then lose by 20-plus. Already this season they've been blown out three times. They're actually due for a good game - this team beat the Colts earlier this season, and that was before the Colts were hit by numerous injuries. The question is, as always: Which Jacksonville team will show up?

Since I've left, I've felt time slow down. It still passes quickly, but my years with the jws, especially from the mid-80s to the early 2000's when I was engrossed in "reaching out" and then became an elder, went by in a blur. I feel like I'm enjoying life much more because I am able to savor things instead of running, running, running.

Funny, when I was a jw, I would even buy a raffle ticket. And when I was an elder, I never picked up on what Blondie quoted from the old manual. I'm really upset now - I could have won a turkey.

Do you...... Twitter?
by VampireDCLXV ini think it's more dynamic, less intrusive and less of a pita than fb.
(jhmo).
anyone else here use twitter?.

I do. I use it mainly for following well-known entities more so than personal friends - Tweets from The Onion, for example, keep me laughing.
For interaction among friends etc., I think it's not terribly useful.

For me, it has some limited use. It helps me keep informed about friends who have moved away, for example.
Besides that, its benefit is very limited. I've deleted so-caled "friends" (or hid them from my News Feed) because they post updates on insignificant things and do nothing but clutter my page with nonsense.
I think Facebook can potentially damage relationships. For example, I've made friend requests that have been ignored by people with whom I work or whom I know personally. While it's not a huge deal, in the back of my mind I do wonder why I was rejected.
Also, I've deleted people, as I mentioned. How do they feel about being deleted? Could they resent me for ultimately rejecting them?
Some people get very offended when relationship status is changed. It's fueled attacks against an ex who try to move on. There's a lot of stalking by exes on Facebook.
It does make one wonder if the negatives don't outweigh the positives.

Do You Understand How Elders Think?
by minimus insome here have been treated terribly by elders while in the organization.
some were treated kindly.. why do you think some elders are task masters while others are milder?.
do you think they're all the same no matter how they come across to the "flock"?.

They are products of mainly two things: Their own views and personalities coupled with the constant drumbeat of the the WTS expects.
In reasonable, kind men, these two will clash. The organization's dictates usually win out, because one or two elders with qualms will be out-voted and out-manned by the rest of the body.
Strong personalities usually dominate the group-think.
