I now get what you are saying. I too am proud that I no longer fear Armageddon, I too am proud that I was able to form normal relationships with people, but all of these were in spite of the JW influence that never should have been there in the first place.
Oh and just to be fair I have seen numerous people on here blame George Bush for everything wrong in their lives--all the while forgetting it was the Watchtower Society that hindered them from getting a decent education in the first place.

Is it possible for a child to be exposed to JWism and not be damaged by it?
by Mickey mouse inwhat do you think?
were you raised as a jw and feel you suffered no ill effects?
or do you feel it had a negative impact on your life?.

Thanks, I already know the answer is yes in some circumstances, what I don't like is when someone is downgrading another's experience in the JW org. Beksbks obviously felt like her JW chidhood was damaging to her (only she knows whether it is or isn't).
If I wanted to sing the praises of the JW religion I would go to a Kingdom Hall and not a discussion board for people who have escaped. -

IP-SEC, just because a person does extremely well, does not mean that they were never damaged. Some people are damaged, some are not, some are damaged beyond repair.
I would trade my JW upbringing in a heartbeat. -

Prove That JWs Do Not Act As "True Christians"
by minimus ini have heard witnesses proudly say that are the only true religion following the bible.
they put down anyone else that claim to be christian, stating they are merely "counterfeit christians".
jehovah's witnesses believe they alone can rightfully be called "christian".

Jesus said "let your yes mean yes, and your no mean no". Jehovah's Witnesses have a practice of purposefully witholding information about their beliefs and even misconstruing them under the guise of "Theocratic Warfare Strategy. This is outright deceitful and lying.

"Widen out" - Who did, and got burned??
by hamsterbait indo you remember the counsel to "widen out" in our association with the witlesses?.
how many of you found yourself trying to make friends with people who were just not your kind?.
spending evenings bored, or worse.

No hamsterbait, I can't say that I ever experienced that in the JW world, but the EX-JW world is a different story

Who was the biggest Jehovah's Witness rebel?
by slimboyfat inwho was raised a jw and went on to lead life in stark contrast to their upbringing?.
i have often thought the award should go to dwight eisenhower.
from a religion that railed against politics and warfare he first invaded western europe and then went on to become president of the united states.

Trying not to split hairs here, but Eisenhower was raised under the bible students and his childhood would have included Christmas,Birthdays, College, and so many other things that are now either taboo or forbidden. Other than their wacky Armageddon beliefs and no politics, he pretty much had a normal childhood.
