the other night in the pub a guy pipes up, "hey, how you doing mate?
then proceeds to inform everyone that i used to try and convert him to jwism about 8 years ago.
i say, "how you doing dave?"...
I used to get so extemely embarassed if I thought someone would find out I was raised a JW, however i'm more like what country girl said, I use it now as an opportunity to un-witness.

hi gang, i am trying to decide whether or not to just lay around the pool on friday morning and afternoon or do a walking tour of the downtown.
i believe if we hung around the hotel on friday we could be there to meet and greet those arriving.
we could always tour downtown dallas on saturday, however i heard that several of you are planning on saturday to be the pool day.

We could always tour downtown Dallas on saturday, however I heard that several of you are planning on saturday to be the pool day. Give me some suggestions. Also for those who are going to Billy Bob's would you like to meet up for dinner in the stockyards before going to BB? and which restaurants would you suggest? One more thing, if any of you can play the guitar, please bring it along or any other musical instrument. Well you-all this will probably be my last post before we leave thursday for Texas. I wont be back here at the mall to post until monday or tuesday until we get back, feel free to post here as I can read this site from my home browser.

dear gentle members, .
remember the thread i started about my "liberal" jw mother?
well, forget all about that.
Hi Logan, I dont know your mom personally, however you have your own personal opinion and entitled to proclaim it, It would have been better if you could have avoided yelling. I would love to confront my Elder Dad someday, but im also afraid that I would lose control and say some hurtful things. I dont live anywhere near my dad so Every opportunity I get I try to enjoy the visit, however If my Dad was still a major part of my life and lived near me, we would be having many colorful discussions. I would love to sit down with him and explain to him why I feel the watchtower society is a destructive mind controlling organization that destroys families and childhoods, maybe someday the opportunity will present itself to me. In the meantime try to just show your mom love and dont let her comments get the best of you . One thing Ive noticed about JW's is that they always preach against things from the platform and then in print try to soften their stances by saying "we never told you not to go to college" "we never said you couldnt make worldly friends" It always amazes me at the depth of deception and lies they proclaim. Hey Logan I look forward to meeting you in Dallas and am sure you will have a good time touring the city and the sites. By the way bring your cowboy hat and boots as were going to billy bobs to see the bull riding

i was diagnosed twice last year with blood clots in my leg.
the first time was last may.
i had severe throbbing pain in my leg and my doctor and the nurses at work thought it was tendonitis or pulled muscles, i however knew in my mind that it was something much more serious.
Hi Valis, Believe it or not I am not familiar with heart health, is that a new drug or something? I was perfectly healthy until last year and all of a sudden I developed high blood pressure and then my blood clots. I had never used health insurance my whole adult life and the last time I had been to a doctor was in 1991. My doctor thinks I worry too much, and im much healthier than I realize. I believe I have some kind of heart or vascular problem causing this and it just hasnt been diagnosed. And yes I do realize the seriousness of blood clots, I went for several days worrying that my clot would break loose and kill me. I dont worry about that too much anymore. I now know that boredom and depression will probably kill me first, but I will leave that for another thread, as Im in a good mood and looking forward to Dallas

Hi Englishman, I now go to the doctor once a month to check my PT time (pro-thrombin), I told my doctor this last time that I want to receive the highest dose possible and remain on it as long as I can. I know that as soon as I come off the coumadin again my leg will clot back up. No one knows for sure what caused this, I have a hematologist now and she cant find anything abnormal in my blood work. My doctor just says I need to exercise more and quit smoking. I believe I have some other underlying factor causing this, that they havent picked up on yet. I have learned so much in the past year on medicine, diseases, and disorders that I could receive an honorary doctorate degree in medicine.
hey gang, several days ago funchback had started a topic about men freezing up at urinals.
i wanted so bad to reply back to that, however since im using an outdated browser at home im not able to post, only read.
anyway what funchback was describing was bashful bladder, shy bladder, or otherwise known as paruresis.
Hi Valis, Im actually glad funchback posted that as I have often wondered how prevalent bashful bladder and other social anxiety disorders were among JW's and ExJW's, but Ive always been reluctant and embarassed to do it, so for that I commend him. Dan-O, that guy that was fired worked for caterpillar and it has garnered alot of attention from the media lately. Yes, drug tests are always a source of anxiety for people with this. I have mostly recovered from this, but I still read their message board and Im always willing to give advice and assistance to those who need it. I remember Assemblies were always bad for me as there were always long lines and alot of people in the restrooms during the noon break and heaven forbid we got up during the program to go to the bathroom.

I was diagnosed twice last year with blood clots in my leg. the first time was last may. I had severe throbbing pain in my leg and my doctor and the nurses at work thought it was tendonitis or pulled muscles, I however knew in my mind that it was something much more serious. After about 2 weeks of this I went to see another doctor who is affiliated with mine, my doctor was off that day. I insisted that something serious was wrong, so he sent me to the hospital for an ultrasound of my leg, it was then discovered that I had a massive blood clot in my leg and I was admitted to the hospital. I was there for 6 days and they had me on a heparin drip I.V. I was released and given coumadin(blood thinner). Well after 3 months my family doctor decided to take me off the coumadin, he is such an optimist! within 6 weeks of discontinuing the blood thinner, I once again came down with a blood clot in the same leg. This time I was in the hospital for 6 days and then I was released. When I got home, over the next several days, my pain intensified and the thigh muscle locked up on me and I couldnt hardly walk. my leg was swollen to twice its normal size. This went on for several weeks, and I even purchased a cane to help me walk, and acquired a temporary handicapped sticker for my car. I will tell you this was the worst pain in my life, I never thought I was going to walk again, but thank God I recovered. finally after about a month the doctor had given enough muscle relaxers that my leg had finally released and I was able to stand up and walk normal. I am now on the highest dose of blood thinner 10mg and will probably be on this for the rest of my life, in fact the doctor will have a hard time convincing me otherwise. I know now that I need to be careful and that i will bleed more profusely from cuts and scrapes, but Its much better than the alternative. I also wear a vascular compression sock on my leg now when I go to work. Im glad that im not a JW, because if i ever have to have a transfusion now, I will
do it in a heartbeat. anyone here ever have a blood clot?
