I wouldnt mind a T-shirt with a watchtower symbol on it with a red line going through it, possibly saying something like "free at last" or "1914" on it, just to see what kind of responses i would generate.

.
with the 80's coming back into fashion, design or give ideas for your own wts slogan t-shirt in the style that was all the rage back then.
it's a good piss take, and would look great at an apostofest.

has anyone else noticed shakedowns in their area.
in my state whole service committee's (presiding overseer, service overseer, sectretary) have been replaced in many congregations including our's.
also, at the green bay convention and in many talks locally it seems there is a lot of hammering on the faithful and discreet slave.
I remember a whole congregation in Middletown Ohio in the early 1980's was deleted and there was always a bunch of hush hush talk whenever the subject was brought up. What they were deleted for, who knows? apostasy? maybe

the more time that passes, the less i even think about it.
i dont really believe in it but now and again i get a nagging fear of "what if we're all wrong and it is true" and boom big lighting rods and earthquakes come and shatter us all and i think damn and i almost beat jah on this one .
its so silly i know im right about my decison to leave the dubs but they psychologicaly messed with us for so long sometimes your like woah what if theyre right!.
Well I used worry about the "what ifs?" alot when I was younger, however since the passing of time and the 1914 doctrine proven false and even the society revising their stance on it, I no longer believe in the WT version of Armageddon, and have chucked their whole doctrine.

come visit here in florida.
relatives, friends, all!!!
and of course they always want to go to the many parks and beaches here.
Well I live in East Tennessee and there are lots of attractions and also the mountains here. I would be willing to host a visit from people here on the board, likewise there are lots of places in this country that i would like to visit, but cant afford the rising costs of lodging so I would love to go stay with other former witnesses and tour the sights.
Dave
i completely lost it and could not keep the tears back and my throat choked with grattitude to these men and my country.
i had missed feeling patriotic soooo much!
pasted from another thread...but got me thinking, how much did you stop doing as a jw, not because you really believed it but because you could not do it and still be a jw?
I guess as a child growing up in it, i nearly lost my sanity, does that count?
Dave
sickos!!!!
this not how independence day was meant to be celebrated!.

This is awful, words cant describe the anger and sadness im feeling right now. Who could do such a thing to precious little puppies?

they say that memory is all about association.
when we recall a happy or desperate time in our lives, a song or tv programme or even an ad can bring the era concerned flooding back.. these are my "leaving the dubs" selections:.
my song was "beautiful sunday".. my tv programme was "monty pythons flying cicus".. my tv ad was "click on here and turn up the speakers.
I dont know about any particular song, however 80's music always gets me to thinking about my dub days as a kid growing up. There is one particular steakhouse we eat at that has delicious food and a buffet, but they are always playing 80's music and everytime i go there I always come out in such a bad mood and want to call every JW I know family or otherwise and tell them off. There is one particular song come to think of it from the 80's its called "always something there to remind me" everytime I hear that song i get depressed and think back to my childhood.

the denbigh, virginia kingdom hall was destroyed by an accidental fire begun by a member who was welding and soldering pipes in a bathroom.
the insulation ignited and although he tried to extinguish the blaze, he was unsuccessful.
3 congregations used the building; now they have nowhere to meet and will have to rebuild.. http://www.dailypress.com/news/local/dp-36592sy0jun30,0,4261948
Im wondering if the insurance company will pay up since it is due to negligence, insurance companies are always looking to get out of paying claims. I wonder if this brother faces any kind of legal or congregational consequences. I would hate to be in his shoes.

i have printed up some flyers that im going to post around town in various places.
basically what they say is that im a former jw and looking to start a meet up group with other former members.
i printed 3 different types, 1 for the general public that i will post in grocery stores, laundromats, and other public places, 1 that i will post on church bulletin boards here in knox county, and 1 that i will post on my bulletin board at work.

Where I work there are probably a total of 600 officers, of which there are approximately 300-400 correctional officers, surely there are at least one or two who have had some affiliation with the JW's in their life. I plan on taking these flyers to ever local business within 2 miles from me and also our community bulletin board at our apartments. Wow this is almost like working in service, can I count my time? lol

This is for all of you who responded to my previous post on an apostafest in this region. I couldnt respond back to your replies. I have been thinking about maybe holding one about the 3rd week in october when the leaves are at their peak. There seems to be several here on this board who live in NC about 4 hours away in charlotte and other areas, and im sure there are probably several in the Atlanta area also, we could probably put together one. Camping would still be an option then as it wouldnt be that cold in October. well I will check this post for your replies and if I can make it back to the mall tomorrow I will respond more.
