I would be willing to help in any way I can, however my financial situation has been in dire straits for some time now. I would be willing to write letters, picket, Radio and TV interviews, whatever.

i may have an important idea!
(beginner's luck).. what if we all (and i mean every last one of us; big numbers of people) wrote a scathing and precise petition or letter of protest (as an open letter) to the governing body of jehovah's witnesses and released it to the press on a slow news day with lots of fanfare?.
we would "call out" the rascals in no uncertain terms citing our grievances (like the founding fathers to george iii) and enumerating our personal suffering under the policies we want changed.. the list would include setting themselves up as little dictators speaking in god's name and issuing papal decrees upon penalty of excommunication.. we could demand apologies for stealing the future of children born to jw families who lose the happiness of childhood through worthless pharisaic adherence to blind rules such as no birthdays, christmas, easter, holidays in general, etc.
I would be willing to help in any way I can, however my financial situation has been in dire straits for some time now. I would be willing to write letters, picket, Radio and TV interviews, whatever.

i have in the past used signs at conventions and kh that are embarasing to the jws because they bring the mind control mentality of the jws to the fore things that the witnesses shy away from on initial calls with people because they haven't been indoctrinated yet.
these thing the jw will acknowledge as true,, but not in exact the words i use.
i think these type of signs are effective because they will make some jw's think.. .
I do too Nathan, Maybe I will dig out one of those old suits and ties of mine.
Dave
well some of you here have already read about them at another board, but for you others i thought i would give you a little update on what i have been doing.
the last 2 weekends i have started picketing 2 different kingdom halls here locally, this is the first time that i have ever done this, but i figure with all the years of penned up frustrations, that this was something i need to do.. i have really enjoyed doing this and the amount of support i have received from the public is phenomenal.
i have a sign given to me by undaunted danny that says "jehovah witness destructive cult, thousands of dead kids from their bogus medical dogma" and at the bottom of the sign there are 2 bumperstickers that say "stop wathctower abuse" and also the web addresses to freeminds and silentlambs.
Thank you all, and yes seven006 I do have a tendency to run in all my paragraphs together, sorry about that.
And a big Thank You to Undaunted Danny for sending me those signs, at the rate im going they will probably be wore out by the end of the year
Dave

i will contiunue to check in here every now and then, but i cant post on a daily basis anymore, it just got too time consuming to have to run to the mall, or the library to post.
i look forward to reading all your topics, and if one in particular catches my eye i will do my best to get myself to a computer.. .
But of course Nathan!! Hey and if I show a true spirit of repentance, will you welcome me back into the fold?

Hi Frankiespeakin, My sign was given to me by undaunted Danny and reads "jehovah witness destructive cult, thousands of dead kids from their bogus medical dogma" and also there are 2 bumperstickers at the bottom which say "stop watchtower abuse" and give the addresses to silentlambs and freeminds. I do realize that picketing probably wont help in any way to bring JW's out from the Org, So I do my picketing as a community service to help warn the unsuspecting public. It is futile to try to argue with JW's, the best thing we can hope for is to help keep innocent people from being deceived into this cult. By the way I have just started picketing, and I have cut my teeth so to speak, by picketing the local kingdom halls.
Dave
Alot of people have come to me at work and stated that JW's keep pestering them and wont take no for an answer. I simply told them the best thing they can do is tell the JW's that they are Apostate and wished to be removed from the territory's listing. This has to be a surefire way to avoid them, because the word will get around in the congregations that they are apostate. Witnesses do like to gossip you know.
So thats my solution, tell them you are Apostate. I personally welcome the JW's to my door and cant wait until they call on me, but after 3 1/2 years living in my apartment I have yet to have a JW at my door, I can only hope and pray-LOL

Alot of the public passing by have honked their horns, given me the thumbs up, and waved to me, I never expected all of this, I just figured most people were ignorant to the watchtower society's beliefs and practices.
I stand right across from the kingdom hall, and all of the JW's on their way to the meetings are noticing me. I dont harass the people, yell at them, cuss, or confront them, I just simply let the sign speak for itself. Most of the JW's give me that typical jw look "poor pitiful you, you will be destroyed at armageddon" a couple of the women gave me the evil eye. One couple in their early 60's I imagine stopped at the stop sign and the woman rolled down her window and yelled "liar" I told her that im not a liar and that im a former JW myself and that my Dad is an Elder. she just kept yelling "liar liar". I believe her husband was embarassed for her and told her to just ignore me and dont get something started.
I have had several people pull over and ask what I was doing, they were really supportive. One guy in particular talked with me about 15 minutes beside the road, and just from talking with him I realized that he was the type of person that JW's seek out, those who are questioning religion, I believe that if he hadnt spoken with me, he might have eventually ended up a JW himself or at the very least, visited a kingdom hall. By the time he left, I doubt he will ever set foot into a kingdom hall. I gave him several helpful hints to deal with JW's when they come to his door. I enjoyed talking with him and he seemed like such a nice guy.
Well in closing here i would like to say that picketing for me has provided a safe outlet for my frustrations and at the same time I feel like Im doing a community service. i hope you all have enjoyed reading this, and I look forward to reading your comments.

after enjoying the spiritual freedom of being "out" for a few years, i now feel the need for more christian fellowship.
however, never having gone to any church, i'm at a loss at what to try.. since there's such a variety of spiritual beliefs here, and i know churches vary greatly even in the same religion, maybe some of you can give me suggestions.
1. no dramatic rituals or costumes (incense or big hats).
You might want to try a Baptist church, they dont believe in toungues and most southern baptist churches that call themselves "first baptist church" arent usually of the emotional kind. Most people think of southern baptists as loud and shouting, but I found them to be very tame compared to the various mountain baptists we have down home in Kentucky. Also these churches tend to have various fellowship groups that cater to children, singles, couples and you can always use this as an opportunity to meet people and make friends. The baptist churches I attend in Kentucky are different from these and you will find alot of shouting and crying in these denominations. I went to a baptist funeral once in Ky, where a child drowned accidently it was very sad, it was the most emotional thing I have ever been to in my life. The preacher was laid out flat on the floor praying and wailing to the top of his lungs, you wont see this in Southern Baptist chruches though. Give this a chance and see what you think. Also heres a tip-the larger the church, the more reserved and less emotional the services are. I hope this helps.

im taking this time to thank undaunted danny for sending me several picket signs, business cards and bumper stickers to pass out, all of this was free of charge.
i plan on using them down in georgia next weekend.
it was really nice of him to take time out of his schedule and pack them up in a box and ship them.

The sign I plan to use says : "jehovah's witness destructive cult, million of dead kids from their bogus medical dogma" Thank you Danny. I hope to meet other picketers while im down there but if I turn out to be the only one there, then so be it, I will have a good time by myself. This will be my first picketing event so it will mainly be a trial and error experiment but I can always make some adjustments for the next time I picket. I can try several approaches and see what works best.
