A celebration, an embarrassment

there has been much talk lately about where christ belongs in christmas when it comes to our government and public schools.

until the early 1990s, i was among those who declared, "what's the harm?

That was a good story, however its not the schools fault or the teacher's fault if this child feels embarassed, its the parents fault for subjecting these children to such destructive isolationism. If it wasnt Christmas, it would be something else- In order to make schools less embarassing to JW children, they would have to get rid of all school sports, any holiday(religious or not), college preparatory courses, school dances,pledge of allegiance, boy scouts and girl scouts, and the list goes on and on. If it was just Christmas, then it wouldnt be so bad, but EVERYTHING about growing up a JW is tough on kids, you would literally have to shut the school down. I commend this teacher for showing some sensitivity toward this child, but giving them a cult awareness book would be alot better. I dont believe the majority of kids should have to sacrifice their holiday because of one quack religion.

i recently watched the 9/11farenheit documentary and found it very interesting.how much is actually true and how much is not,i don't know,but i got the impression that micheal moore is for real and trying to open people's eyes to truths we don't see.. anyways,i was just sitting there,wondering what kind of documentary he'd come up with if he decided he wanted to look into the wts.i believe it would be very interesting,and definitely an eye-opener.of course the shallow-minded jw would say it's all propaganda no matter how clear the subject was presented.. i'd love to hear your thoughts on this ...any ideas for a title?

I would say go for it, as more people die each year from rejecting blood transfusions than serving in "Bush's" war.

Kentucky presiding overseers obfuscate facts in print

here's a puff-piece in the danville, kentucky, usa newspaper.

it looks like it was written by a public relations representative of the wts and published word-for-word.

the news was that a spanish congregation has been added.

Maybe as a former kentuckian myself and still one at heart, I need to write that newspaper and set them straight on the JW views of military service and voting, let them know what the real truth is.

If Something Bad Happens To A JW, Are You Happy?

every so often, i read that some posters have such contempt for jehovah's witnesses, that they are happy when they hear that one died or suffered from cancer or some other disease or tragedy.

they rationalize things by saying, "jws are so corrupt that getting rid of them in any way is good!".

or, "i'm glad that this bad thing happened to them.

I dont wish bad things on anyone-JW or not. I left the kingdom hall mostly over doctrinal question, not because I was treated bad. Most JW's I have known are good decent people, however their doctrine is false, hypocritical, and emotionally destructive to children, and this is the main reason im in oppostion against them. However when the WT society loses a case in court im ecstatic and one of the first ones to jump for joy. I just cant bring myself to hate people, only psychopathic false religions. I dont hate JW's, for as a christian that would be wrong for me.

Randy, What an awesome idea, it really takes someone creative to think of something like this. I think its a good idea. Arent most assemblies and conventions nowadays indoor and air conditioned? I remember back in 1978 when I was 7 years old going to the old riverfront stadium in Cincinnati, it was very hot. It would have been hilarious if that could have happened back then. Can you imagine the looks on everyone's faces?

Congratulations Corvin, Im glad it is working out for you!!! Hey Corvin, why not try picketing another nearby kingdom hall? As far as im concerned they are all dens of hypocrisy, You know the old saying "same poop different pile". If you become legally restrained from picketing their hall, just move onto another location. So many halls, so few time-LOL. Once again congratulations, and if I was anywhere remotely close by to you, I would be out there with you, holding up signs.

In defense of Bill Bowen and Silent Lambs

after reading some of the comments against silent lambs, i thought i would respond back with my own topic.

anyway, i have met bill bowen in person at the silent lambs summit in nashville back in march.

i did not feel that he was arrogant in anyway or egotistical.he seemed to conduct that summit in a very professional way and really put together a good program.

Youre right Shamus, This particular time wasnt that bad, but there have been several posts in the past that have been negative toward Bill and Silent Lambs, I guess I just finally had to speak out about it.

Bravo Corvin, I have been watching your posts off and on, and Im must say im glad that everything is working out, but I dont believe this is final just yet, so still keep your fingers crossed. Although it would be great if they were barred from speaking to your children about the JW religion, somehow I dont know if this would be legal or not. Well anyway congratulations to you!!!! Oh and by the way, If I had lived any closer to you, I would have definitely helped you picket.
