Billboard Contest Now!
by Perry ini have long thought that a billboard campaign might be effective in reaching many jw's, especially those without a computer.
imagine a large donation to jwd with the stipulation that it support a message billboard near every assembly hall and summer convention center.
what would you write?

Im so sorry you are having to go through this. The nerve of them telling him that your great grandmother is in purgatory because he wasnt paying enough money to the church, talk about emotional blackmail.

Thinkin' of moving to Texas......
by target inmy little family of xjws are thinking of moving to texas, kind of looking at the area north of houston.
there seem to be plenty of apostates from texas on this forum.
is there anything i should know that is good or bad about that area?

Well we moved to San Antonio in 1979 and I really hated it then, because it was so far away from my family, and I was young. Well after attending the Aposta-chilifest last year I literally fell in love with Dallas. Dallas is such a cool city and it had such an optimistic spirit to it, its hard to explain. Now in my heart home will always be in Eastern Kentucky for me, but if I had a second choice it would most definitely be Dallas. You know its really ironic but I hated Texas for so many years after we left there, and then all of a sudden I find out its the ground zero for Apostasy and im ready to move there, Y'all have a truly great city there!! Now I havent been back to San Antonio since 1980, but Im gonna try to see it again when we make our annual pilgrimage to Dallas for the Apostafest. I figure I ought to at least give it another look and see if my memory serves me correctly.
I also love the Panhandle, especially right above Amarillo, that place has lots of canyons, very rugged and very arid looking, it almost looks like a place where John Wayne would have ridden in the old western movies.
As for the Gulf Coast the only memory I have is that the water was brown and murky, maybe it was just a bad day or something. My brother told me the water in South Padre Island was absolutely gorgeous, so I will definitely have to check that out some time.
I have never been to Big Bend or El Paso, but I believe I would love this section the most as I love the desert look of West Texas. It rains so often here in Tennessee and several days can pass before you even see the sun, Thats why the Pacific Northwest doesnt really appeal to me.
Texas is a really cool state, and I hope to be down there in a month or two.
God Bless Texas,
Dave

JillBedford 'First in Class' in Leukemia Marathon
by Honesty injill finished first in her class at the leukemia and lymphoma 19 mile marathon yesterday.
refusal of blood transfusions by parents is the major causes of death among juvenile jw leukemia patients.
she deserves more than an award for helping raise awareness about leukemia and proven treatments among jw's and non-jw alike.. .

Tough day -- my mom died today
by cruzanheart inpoor thing, she's had alzheimer's for about 10 years and the last year she's been on hospice care because she's been so close to death.
the past few months she's been slowly filling up with water -- they gave her lasix (not sure of the spelling) to relieve the edema and it worked, sort of.
last weekend she actually looked a little better.

HHAHAHAH.. and I thought I was making some headway....
by Country Girl inmy darling sister came over friday night.
my husband was at a conference at work on friday night, and i thought it would be a nice time for my little sister (15 years younger) to come over, hang out, eat some popcorn, and watch a movie.
we changed into our jammies, rented "the village", and piled into my fluffy, decorative pillow ridden bed, to watch the movie.

I saw "the village" also and saw many similiarities also with the WT Society, at the very end of the movie those people were all standing outside that building in a picture and they were dressed just like JW's, in fact that picture looked like they were all standing in front of a kingdom hall.

JWs at My Door - and the Answer to a Prayer
by hemp lover inthis happened almost three years ago, but since i always enjoy reading about other people's jw encounters, i thought i'd finally share one of my own.. i lived in an apartment for four years following my disfellowshipping and no one had ever come to my door, not even so much as a shepherding visit.
(yeah, right.
) i had lurked on this board for a while, but was put off by the anger and negativity of some people and so i didn't stay long.

An Explanation of my final comments on the show
by jschwehm ini apologize for anything i said that may have offended anyone.
my intent was to be as charitable toward my jehovah's witness brothers and sisters as possible but also to be truthful about the differences between the jws and the historic christian faith which are many.
i hope that i succeeded in this.
