just outside of town heading north towards dalhart the lanscape starts to take on the feel of the old west.
there are canyons, mesas, and buttes.
Another thing, the first full weekend in August there is an XIT ranch reunion in Dalhart Texas. The Xit Ranch was the largest ranch in the world and measured 27 miles wide by 200 miles long. They host several rodeos that weekend and have a free BBQ. I would love to go and see that too. Texas is such a big state. So much to do with so little time and money. I cant do it all, so I need to make up my mind shortly so I can plan it.

Thanks Bill, Im just not sure if im coming there or Dallas again this summer. I already have tons of brochures from Texas and especially the panhandle too. I love the panhandle but Dallas is so cool also, plus my brother wants me to come and stay with him while he's there on business.

Thanks Jeff, I just love getting away and seeing new places. I love the dryness out there and bet they dont get a fraction of the rain that we do here.

Well I used to have alot of "worldly" friends when I lived in Kentucky, but I had to give them all up when we left, simply because I couldnt survive there financially without any college or career goals. Since then I havent made many new friends and have basically been alone here in Tennessee, but I have at least tried, it wasnt like I wanted it to turn out this way, but everything I have done here has always backfired on me and Ive never felt so unlucky until I moved here. Thankfully I have been able to meet up with Bob and a few others from this board who live locally, but I would give anything to find some friends my age who understand me and where im coming from. There have been a few people I have worked with in the past few years that I liked, but usually they end up quitting the job and moving. So it just Amanda and I here, no family. I was just about to give up on this place until I was able to meet Bob and Jill, im hoping more people will meet up with us in the future, and form some kind of local group.

what did you worry about when you were a jw?
i worried about everything.
but my biggest worry was my fear of persecution.
I guess my biggest worry was whether or not to get baptized, because if I got baptized I would lose all freedom and have my life controlled, plus I would have to shun my own mom, but on the other hand I didnt want to be destroyed at Armageddon either, it was a very gut wrenching time for me, and im just glad I held out and didnt get baptized.

That kingdom hall is in Knoxville Tennessee just outside the city limits, but offhand I cant think of the name of the congregation there. The pics were taken back in march, it has taken me this long to get them online, as I live in the technological dark ages. much thanks to Elsewhere.

Yes that was the night they called the police. By the way, my wife Amanda is the red headed woman sitting in the chair with the sign propped up against it.
The response from the passerby's has always been great there, and maybe someday soon I will go back there once again and picket. But first things first, I will be getting in touch with a local newspaper editor who has shown alot of interest in the JW saga, and he wants to do a story on JW's covering everything from the UN to the pedophiles.

in the 80's there was a practice of df unbaptized ones who were unrepentant wrongdoers.
this ended as there supposedly a lawsuit in ny w/a person who experienced this.
did any of you ever have this happen in your cong.?
I was born and raised a JW from 1970 to the early 1990's, but I have never heard of people getting disfellowshipped without being baptized. I have heard of unbaptized publishers being deleted, but this never carried the same penalty as disfellowshipping did, they were simply "marked" but no official shunning was enforced.
