  Big Announcement on next Service meeting

  there seems to be a very important announcement this coming weeking on the next service meeting, forme it will be on wednesday 30th jan.. during the last 2 meetings they have asked that every batized jw be at that meeting and even to tell others who might not have heard the annoucement.. anyone here have any ideas i wouldn't be surprised if they are changing meeting times and arrangments...less meeting at is !.

  The Watchtower and the UN--MY letters and Brochure--

  i wrote the wt for a year before i was df'd over the wt-un/dpi-ngo deal.

  i have all of my letters, the wt jerkoff letter back to me as well as a compilation of a simple little brochure, documenting that the wt was more involved with the un than for a library card.

  if you would like to see and read it, i would like your feedback.

  Unfortunately the link you gave at the top of this thread is no longer active and I would like to give the info to

  a dear friend who is faithful, but questioning Witness.

  Is there some way we can get our hands your letters?

  BTW I remember them as really excellent. Thank you for a job well done.

  if you're here, it's likely you were once fooled by what the jws believe.. back then, i expect you thought you were smart.

  you thought you could tell if you were being lied to.

  yet, they got past your mental defenses and sucked you in.. knowing this, how can you be sure your current religious beliefs are true?.

  I don't follow any religion and I don't believe in any god. How do I know I'm right to dismiss them so easily? I see no reason at all to believe in a god. I dismiss the god idea the same way I dismiss fairies, monsters and other mythological creatures. I dismiss the god of the Bible the same way Christians dismiss every other god without a second thought. I think I'm being consistent, where others aren't.

  I magine you have also left open the possibility that you could be wrong about all the above.

  ok, so right on the cusp of my awakening, i had a sorta-bible study with the man who had almost died in a nasty car wreak .

  (he was saved by a like a gallon of tranfused blood, btw).

  when i stopped going out in service, the study was taken over by a rather dimwitted witness on conservative side .

  I would never recommend that sixscreensofthewatchtower website. It has great graphics, etc, but it is completely over the top. It's full of emotionalism and vitrolic hatred for the Society. The whole website gives me the creeps.

  I absolutely agree. Had I seen that as I was leaving, I would have rushed back so fast.

  It just confirms what the WT says about "apostates".

  1. To affect, guide, or arouse by divine influence.

  So to be inspired in this instance would mean one would be affected, guided or

  aroused by the Holy Spirit. JR Brown says that that does not happen in the organization.

  Fair enough. I don’t think we would argue with that.

  Where it becomes a little tricky is: What then is "Spirit directed"?.

  Seeing that expression is not found in the Bible (I checked the Watchtower CD) let us work it out.

  We all know what Spirit means.

  Now what about directed:

  di·rect·ed,

  v.tr.

  1. To manage or conduct the affairs of; regulate.

  2. To have or take charge of; control.

  So they are actually saying the "Holy Spirit" has taken charge, is managing and controlling the organization.

  Then comes the question: How could one be DIRECTED,(controlled or managed) by the Holy Spirit but not "inspired", keeping in mind that Inspired means affected, guided or aroused by divine influence (Holy Spirit).

  So the claim of "Spirit directed" is actually greater than "Inspired".

  2. major organizational changes about to start rolling out, one is changes to the "service committee" and titles, po to be done away with, thats all i know for now.

  was told that if you are the sort of person that cant handle changes, you wont stay in the org for long.

  The writing Dept ( Barr) wants to implement change, and the service committee (Jaracz) does not.

  This is interesting but not exactly new. Service and writing have had a volatile relationship since Ted J took over the reins of service and

  he has always been against change. ISo what is new about the situation?
