It will be interesting if some of the elders fail the WWC application. I imagine they will need to be removed, which is the main embarrassment that the WTS is probably trying to avoid.
Yes Paul, I think you probably hit the nail on the head there.
victoria, australia: report on oct. 11th hearing involving steven unthank.
(this report is from an anonymous xjw who attended the hearing.
i had no plans to turn up to the court hearing as an observer, as in my experience, it can take several hearings and a number of months before any court case gets rolling.

i was talking to one of my jw ex-friends today (we keep in contact every once in a while) and she was all excited telling me about the new arregment, a special meeting only for elders, their wives, pioneers and other sheep of "exemplary" conduct... (of course she was invited)..... something about one meeting from bethel that is going to be broadcasted to everyone at assembly halls and translated via radio for those who cannot speak english... is by invitation only (and they are "being discreet w the invitations to avoid offend the ones not invited") and they even gave them tickets they have to present at the door..... anyone has the scoop??
?.
The're about as exciting as watching your toe nails grow.
why is it you also overstep the commandment of god because of your tradition?
like the pharisees, the watchtower is overstepping the commandment of god because of tradition.
(psalm 118:9; 146:3) yet, where does jehovah, through his word, command a christian not to grow a beard at all?
But, I don't think that sisters should wear them.

It has been postulated that Rutherford used that as one of the many ways to remove Russell as one to be emulated.
Many of the Bible Students wore beards copying their founder, whom they loved.
Rutherford wanted that adoration, so did everything to wean followers from Russell.
Forbidding beards was just one aspect.
so an apostabuddy wanted to stage a silent protest at the assembly hall where she was baptized.
we went today.
the plan was to wear these apostate t-shirts that had stuff printed on them about thinking for yourself, and a bunch of websites.
Serenity, you made my day, just reading of your great bravery.

These quotes , which Blondie put on another thread may be of interest to them and anyone wishing to bring the Watchtower's hate campaign to the attention of the various authorities:
The Watchtower, October 1, 1952, p. 599
: "We must hate in the truest sense, which is to regard with extreme and active aversion, to consider as loathsome, odious, filthy, to detest. Surely any haters of God are not fit to live on his beautiful earth. What do you do with anything loathsome or repugnant that you detest and abhor? The answer is simple. You get away from it or remove it from your presence."
The Watchtower, July 15, 1961, p. 420:
"When a person persists in a way of badness after knowing what is right, when the bad becomes so ingrained that it is an inseparable part of his make-up, then in order to hate what is bad a Christian must hate the person with whom the badness is inseparably linked…Jesus did not mean for us to love the hardened enemies of Jehovah."
The Watchtower, July 15, 1974, p. 442
: "You have seen the benefit of godly love, but do you know how to hate? These very strong words are an expression of godly hate, and you too must have this quality to be pleasing to God. Hate causes a feeling of disgust to well up inside you. You loathe, abhor, despise the object of your hatred. Godly hatred never has as its object our Christian brothers, no matter how imperfect."
The Watchtower, June 15, 1980, p. 8:
"More than that, we want to hate those who willfully show themselves haters of Jehovah, haters of what is good."
The Watchtower, October 1, 1993, p. 19
: "Apostasy is, in reality, a rebellion against Jehovah. Some apostates profess to know and serve God, but they reject teachings or requirements set out in his Word. Others claim to believe the Bible, but they reject Jehovah's organization and actively try to hinder its work. When they deliberately choose such badness after knowing what is right, when the bad becomes so ingrained that it is an inseparable part of their makeup, then a Christian must hate (in the Biblical sense of the word) those who have inseparable attached themselves to the badness."
