  there had been some sadness. Her oldest son left home without accepting the
  
  truth but the rest of the kids came into the truth.
  
  
  So he asked her what was a joyful experience? She said she was calling on a
  
  woman and met the woman's husband and started a study with him. Then
  
  pointing to the brother next to her "this is him, Brother ______".

  i attended my mother's memorial at the kingdom hall saturday afternoon.

  even with the jw sermon tagged on, my cousin did a lovely service for her.

  there were many jws and non-jws in attendence.

  Thank you Blondie, you did a great job, as usual, but there's smoke coming from my ears. Background: What you mentioned about the years the Society has claiming they had been "expecting" Jesus to return in 1914, when of course they were believing and teaching 'till at least 1929 that he had "arrived" in 1874. Can we say a distortion in an attempt to make people think well of them? Now: Paragraph 11 from today's Watchtower study:

  11) "If we are ever tempted to distort the truth in an attempt to make people think well of us, may the story of Ananias and Sapphira stand as a sober reminder. We might be able to deceive fellow humans, but we cannot fool Jehovah. (Hebrews 4:13) Time and again the Scriptures exhort us to be honest with one another, for liars will have no place in an earth swept clean of unrighteousness. (Proverbs 14:2; Revelation :21:8; 22:15) The reason for that should be clear. The promoter of all untruth is none other than Satan the Devil. John 8:44".

  September KM - 70 alterations in Revelation Climax Book

  i can't find a thread on this subject yet - if there is one , please delete this one.. the september kingdom ministry has a 4 page insert detailing the 70 alterations in the revelation climax book which is due to be studied at the book study shortly.

  i'll provide scans if anyone is interested.. i will leave it up to more experienced analysts to examine the reasons for specific changes , but just a few brief observations for now:.

  p32 box - "they were completely exonerated" changed to "charges against them were dropped" - interesting change of terminology for the 1918 watchtower eight.

  the wts is fond of associating itself with great men of the bible claiming to be of this or that class (john class, isaiah class and so on).

  they claim god given authority to keep his people clean and to make rules to cover situations not found in the bible.. pharisee rule not found in the law.. *** w96 9/1 12 the law before christ ***.

  i wanted to personally thank simon for all his hard work in keeping this board running, for the better part of six years.

  it's not easy keeping track of thousands of members, dealing with their complaints etc, but he's done it.. i know a few old timer's have left, but many more have joined, some of them who held or are holding prestigious positions in the society.. we need this board for the sake of us, newbies and the lurkers.. does it matter if new jw boards appear?

  to quote a favorite wt phrase, "not at all!

  We need help

  but now i feel the need to ask for any advise from you guys.

  a while back, when i decided i had enough of the wt internal politics and the wait on jah attitude, i faded away from the hall and basically disappeared into the night.

  Deat Tata,

  I really feel for you. I was raised a Witness, and am fast approaching seventy.

  When I found the "truth about the truth" four years ago it just blew my world apart.

  However just because the Witness religion is a corrupt, high control group does not mean the Bible is worthless.

  I have been studying the teachings of Jesus, and now think that the way of life he suggested is a great way to live.

  Have you thought of just reading the New Testament without any Witness propaganda. It's a whole different story.

  You may really enjoy the experience. It has given me a contentment I never had as a Witness.

  I wish you the very best.
