VanillaMocha73,
Are you serious about this:
I was pulled into the back room by elders for saying that I thought my hamster was going to be resurrected. (I was 10 years old at the time).
Did they really pull you into the back room for that?

i have to give her credit that at least she is willing to discuss the misgivings i have with the wts.
up to this point i have not.
openly stated my disbelief in the jw theology and thinks some of my attitude is just the libertarian streak in me.

w576/15p.370par.7OverseersofJehovah’sPeople***The "slave" then became responsible not only for ministering to the needs of the anointed body members but also for taking on the responsibility of preaching the good news of the established Kingdom to people of all nations. (Matt. 24:14) Such is true not by their determination of it, but because God himself has so directed. "God has set the members in the body, each one of them, just as he pleased," is the way it is pictured in 1 Corinthians 12:18 (NW).It is vital that we appreciate this fact and respond to the directions of the "slave" as we would to the voice of God, because it is His provision.

I started out in 1984 that the talks were OUTLINES, or basic topic suggestions, and the brothers added a lot of things if they wanted to. The outline of the talks were guides. I know the elders in my congregation went out of their way to be entertaining many times and gave colorful illustrations and often used props...and that the noose around following the outlines became tighter and tighter so that no personal TAKES on the information could enter into the presentation of the information. To the point where the talks were not to be deviated from AT ALL
Absolutely correct LovesDubs,
During the era I am referring to, there were no outlines for some of the CO's and DO's talks, others, including circuit assembly talks, had very skimpy outlines. There was no outline for the Tuesday evening talk to the host congregation, that's why Michael could give that particular talk.
Now, of course, the outlines have enough material for a three hour talk, so there is no excuse for using extra thoughts and ideas not previously vetted by HQ

And yet the Org maintains that 1975 was never prophesied, blaming the R&F, lol. No wonder they're all confused.
Perhaps they should check their literature of the late 60's.
Just check this out.

I haven't heard of anyone being punished for disagreeing with the wts from the platform. It's a wonder he wasn't hauled off mid-talk if 1975 fever was running high in that district.
Seeing he was the district overseer giving talks in a congregation I guess no one was game. But someone, in at least one of the congregations, made sure the info got back to HQ and bethel did the hauling off.

I have a friend we’ll call Michael whose conscience landed him in trouble with HQ.
He was a district overseer in the pre 75 era but his conscience would not allow him to
endorse the unscriptural date setting. He even went so far as to give a talk on
one round, cautioning against a loss of faith if '75 came and went and nothing happened.
It was interesting because one of the C O’s in his district was giving a talk at the same time,
which started with: "How many months now brothers????????????"
Anyway you can imagine the reaction in Bethel when recordings of Michael’s talk were sent in.
(Yes HQ has a spying system where selected C O and D O’s talk are recorded and sent to Bethel.)
Anyway, Michael was removed and a company man (Peter) was sent in to undo the damage.
Michael was very popular and sadly missed but Peter was able to pull most back to the party line.
And the outcome? Well…….. Peter is now a very "glorious one" in Brooklyn and
Michael is an ex-witness now happily aiding others to see the evils of the
organization his conscience eventually led him to reject.
Do others know of Witnesses punished by the society for obeying their conscience?

hello in there ;-p. wow wow wow.... i never knew such a place existed.... unfortunatly i don't have a lot of time to type right now & believe me i'd need days, perhaps even weeks & i'd probably still feel like i wasn't done.... in short... my name is jodie, i'm from australia, i'm about to turn 32 & i am a jehovah's witness outkast... i wasn't kicked out, i left of my own accord when my parents divorced & i was about 14... my father, my younger brother & me - the 3 black sheep !!
my father was disfellowshipped, he was an elder who also happened to have bi polar... the day ( or technically night ) my father was disfellowshipped was the saddest time of my life - it was more like a death or a funeral, something tragic... when my parents divorced i went to live with dad, i was always closer to my father plus when he left he had nothing... he lived on the river bank in the middle of winter for 6 weeks in a tent ( while his good christian jehovah's witness father & sister slept warm in their beds in the same town... ) dad bought a little caravan & he & i lived in it, eventually he bought some land & built a house & my younger brother joined us.... anyway to cut it all short... i've suffered badly from depression - so badly it's almost killed me & my brother also... the crux of our depression is our mother, our sister's, our grandfather, our aunt's & all of our relatives are jehovah's witnesses - most of them live in the same town as us altho they may as well live on the other side of the world.... you know, sitting here thinking about it all - it all makes perfect sense... how can families be torn apart like this, how do they not realise it is wrong & sad & wicked ??.
i've spent more than half my life trying to have any sort of relationship with the rest of my family.... anyway i have to get going.... hasta la vista .
Dear (((((Jodie))))),
I am so sorry you, your dad and your brother have been treated so badly.
It can be a very cruel religion.
I do hope we can help give you support and hope.

there is a new web site devoted to the false claim by jehovah's witnesses that jerusalem was destroyed in 607 b.c.e.
please feel free to link to the site.

Thank you. I can see a lot of time has been spent and what I have seen looks great. Will finish reading later.
Thanks again.

how many times are they going to study that book.
i left the year that it was published 1988 so i never had a chance to study it at bookstudy.
but i do have a copy(my mom sent me a copy in 1989 hoping i would return to jw's) and i just can't believe they say the whole book of revelation was fulfilled by actions of the wt society and russell and rutherford.
IMHO it's all about shoring up their authority.
Remember, everything in Revelation is about them. All the plagues are their conventions and/or their blistering messages,
or something else about THEM.
I think it is being studied to help the faltering ones (and there are many) realise that "this is God's organization"
and they should remain loyal, praise the Lord!!! Sorry, Praise the GB!!!!.

christians are hypocrites.
christians, they love to talk about how loving, dutiful and compassionate they are, yet i have yet to meet one who does not practice hypocrisy to the highest degree.
their willful ignorance of the bible combined with their two faced idealism to preach it, has made us sick, hasnt it?
((((Handsome Dan))))))
I love you too.
