Here is something to think about. If all things exist because God created them. Answer this, "who created evil?" If you say Satan, then you are saying that Satan is as powerful as God, in that he has the power to create. Thus equal to, and perhaps the same person as God.

The internet has been around over a decade now, and many of the posters on this site say they have been out less then that time. So what I was wondering, was when you were still active, did you ever go to a site like this one. A site like this, that had apostate information and posted references from publications that were forbidden for us to read? If so, what did you think? I went to a section on aol.com back in the mid-1990's and came across a message board for former Jehovah's Witnesses. I posted that I was active and wanted to know why people left. About 90% of the responses were messages meant to insult me, belittle me, and basically tell me what they thought of my current life. I remember at the time thinking, "Just like we were warned, these people are under the control of Satan." I did stay and respond to some though and in time a few kind people talked back and explained their choices in reasonable detail. The thing is, I always wonder, how many people read these boards in their discussions* and start thinking what I did? I have seen active Witnesses post here before, and to be honest I think we do very well in not insulting them like what happened to me. I do wonder though, how many just read and see the problems we have at times and go "Just like we were warned, these people are under the control of Satan." I am not saying they are right, I am only saying that I understand why they would say such a thing, because I understand the programming they are under. So before you exited, did you ever come to an APOSTATE site? If so, did you learn anything that made you question the organization? I know I did, but it took time.
*I would like to add, that any Witness being true to themselves, has to admit that battles of words happened in the congregation as much as in online boards. Some of them got just as heated, and in some cases punches were thrown and people were disfellowshiped.

Something that shocks most people, is that the nations of Pakistan and India also have the bomb. When they announced it, we just kind of looked the other way and asked them to behave themselves. Yet they are at war with each other all the time, and many feel that it is only an amount of time before a nuclear war erupts between these two. Yes, Iraq is not the most stable nation and does terrible things to their people, but is China, India, Pakistan, Israel, France, United Kingdom, United States, Russia, Ukraine, and a few I forgot. Are they all that stable and kind to everyone? Let's face it, only one country in history has shown they would use a weapon as extreme as the Atomic Bomb in war time. That title belongs to the United States.

DA'd or DF'd -- why more being DA'd
by cyberguy infrom a number of posts on this board it appears that many are being da'd vs. df'd!
is it for legal reasons, from the watchtower's perspective?
anyway, when a person is da'd, they usually don't get an opportunity to defend their position.

It appears to me that a person Disfellowshiped, was normally wanting to stay in the congregation and did something that the elders considered a danger to the congregation's health and were expelled against their will. A person Disassociated, on the other hand, left of their own accord and wanted nothing to do with the organization. Normally they state their thoughts in a letter, phone call or a face-to-face conversation. In the case of someone getting Disfellowshiped, it is not uncommon for them to Disassociate themselves before the judicial process is complete. As they become aware and disheartened, by the societies process. In both titles, each is considered Disfellowshiped on their publisher records. Although someone who Disassociated themselves is normally treated harsher at reinstatement, then someone Disfellowshiped. Reason being, there is often a apostate letter of Disassociation to reference too, that makes the elders question their sincerity to return in more detail.

I have read a little from several of the boards, and some a little more. In my own personal opinion, most boards seem to be centered around this one in some weird way. Something bad happens here, and they run there to talk about it. Someone dislikes someone here, they run there to discuss and defame the person involved. Someone gets their hand slapped for breaking a small rule, and they run there to blow the thing up a million fold and recruit friends to believe them and side with them. In the end, it is just like the Kingdom Hall and it smells just as bad. Of course, far be it for me to take away anyones God-given-right to be an ass. As my friends know, I use that right a few times myself. I only wonder and find it interesting, that we cannot seem to have something upset us, or cannot be upset with someone, without going somewhere else to find people that agree with us and celebrate our anger in some self-gratifying stuper. Once or twice is fine, no one is perfect, but when it is the same person over and over and over (you get the idea). Why don't we just let them be and not add those "I agree" post and "I've seen it too," comments. People online are not stupid, we see what people are and we see what people act like. When you return another persons insult or anger with the same insult and anger. Well it's like trying to clean the child in the mud, by jumping in and playing in the mud with them. Just makes no sense. In addition, I agree strongly with the advice of "if it was started here, discuss it here and finish it here." It really does hurt to be talked about behind your back, and anyone who does so is finding pleasure in another's pain.
I will not condemn you for what you did yesterday, if you do it right today ~ Sheldon S. Maye

what they need is the truth
Maybe the Witnesses could teach them to eat their Bibles and make clothing out of the pages.

cruzanheart, Your post got me to thinking. I know that the Witnesses are wrong, and I would not return. Yet, I wonder, if something like the above happened and it seemed that something major was going down. I would kind of sit back and wonder if I would live long enough to see who got it right after all. I laugh, as I am suddenly reminded of a South Park episode like this, that came down to the Mormons being right the whole time and heaven was boring. The really good party was happening in hell.

I can see where you are coming from and probably by your words you are gripped by fear. If shit happens, it happens. Neither you nor I have any real control over world events and some things take their course regardless of our individual fear and concern.
Actually, I wonder if things like this could happen. The same way I did in the 1970's and 1980's with the USSR. I always wonder how strong people would be, if they faced something that would be so life changing to the world. I don't think any of us could really say that we would not consider a little old fear, if things really hit the fan.
Is it possible to put an atomic bomb with enough material in it to level a city as big as Los Angeles and kill of approximately half of it's inhabitants in a truck?
I was just making up something as an example, I am not a nuclear expert. I am not exactly sure how much it would take, but I don't think it would be good on the residence of LA either way. ;)

You have been following the news for weeks on Iraq and wonder, "when will we attack and get this thing done?" Finally we invade and the war is in full swing. The Economy, which has been struggling for months now, finally caves in and major retailers fold as of the results of an extremely poor holiday shopping season. You figure it is not affecting you personally, and go to sleep as if it is a normal day. The next day you wake and turn on the lights, get some coffee and sit down on the couch and turn on the television. The news is on, so you turn to find something else, but every station is covering the same thing. You start to pay attention and see that a nuclear bomb has detonated in the USA, and the news is showing the city of LA burning in ruins. People are dead and burning on the streets, and the things you have come to know as icons of the west coast are burning before your eyes. Disneyland, Hollywood, Downtown LA, all in flames and all the people are dead or dying, being left to burn where they lay. The news says the nuke came from North Korea and the President is considering a response, and no comments will be issued at this time. The device was detonated from a vehicle that was driven into the city, and now the government has banned travel between states and declared martial law with a 10PM curfew, all people found on the streets will be shot and considered a threat to the United States. You sit there watching the news all day and seeing the world in what seems to be complete chaos. Three million people are estimated to be dead in the LA area alone, with millions more injured and expected to die of the nuclear fall-out, and radiation burns. Just as you start to relax, the news updates "The United States has just dropped two Nuclear Devices on North Korea in response to todays attack. Russia has issued a protest, and China has just ordered the recall of all diplomats from the UN and United States." What thought is running through your mind at this moment?
"Armageddon"
I wonder, with the above fictional scenario, we have to admit that none of what I wrote is impossible. In fact, the above situation could happen next week. If it did, how would you feel? Would it waken up some hidden fear inside of you to run back to the Kingdom Hall? Would it make you think this is the end? It is easy to say, "I would never go back" when all is going well, but history has proven that life can change with no notice. How would you really react?
