What I find confusing - and this coming from a guy with few computer skills. Just say Ford Motor company made bad cars, and we're just getting slammed on the net. Easy solve they think, we'll just go and pay off Google so anytime someone types in Ford. only glowing reports come up. OMG the the ramifications for that would be fatal especially in an environment of free speech.

Bizarre comment about jw.org at SAD
by sir82 inrecently attended a sad.. bethel speaker was gushing about the wt's embrace of new technology, in the part of his talk warning about "apostate" web sites.. a loose summary of his comments:.
"and the brothers at headquarters have made it very safe for you to go to our website.
in fact, the brothers talked to the folks at google, and they made a special arrangement so that when you type in 'j w period' into the google search engine, it automatically shows you the jw.org website.

Turnersville Assembly Hall
by jdubsnub inthe congregation i'm associated with had their assembly recently and i decided to go for one day.
i could not believe how much it felt like one of those mega churches you see on tv.
they've added now 2 very large tv screens on each side of the speaker as well as a monstrous projection screen above.

Although not a computer or google expert. I'm surprised that WT is able to get away with it. It sort of makes a mockery of been at 1st place because it was the most popular. How can google differentiate between a +ve or a -ve site unless they had some one sitting there to monitor it and I can't see google doing it.

how would you answer the jw that says that the vision of daniel predicting world powers into the future (where the toes have no significance according to the wbt$), is proof of the inspired prophecy in the bible?.
could it be that the 'powers' are not actually named and can be interpreted any way you want?.

Ok I don't want to sound to dubbie. I think the world has changed a lot in my life time. Unfortunately not for the better. For example some years ago i can remember hearing of a person dieing on the street in New York City and people walking over him. This i found horrifying. There was an article in a local news paper here a few weeks back where they staged the same thing. Sure enough people failed to give assistance.
Now on saying this. Do I believe 1914 was when things took a major turn for the worst and all the other cap from WT. Absolutely not.

I honestly believe that God will step in and do a tidy up. But what I don't believe (or have trouble excepting) is Wt spin on things. But hey that is my opinion.

Really bizarre part on the meeting last night
by stillin inon the service meeting there was a part covering a couple of pages from the tms guidebook chapter on warmth and feeling.
rather than coaching the r&f on how to make a school talk sound warm, it focused on the people that jws meet in their ministry.
basically, the part could have been labelled "how to fake warmth and feeling.

Will Child Molestation Lawsuits Against The Watchtower Corporation Make It Claim Bankruptcy?
by frankiespeakin inwe all know sales are dropping in money recieved from printing literature and that it must have been a money drain for quite some time now at least from the time they went to a completely free literature offer to avoid paying ceaser's things to ceaser, so that now the next big finacial move is thru real estate flipping and capitalizing of the jw work force thru slave labor working conditions.. could these lawsuits bring them to the breaking point finacially i know there are a lot of nay sayers among us, but what say you and what is your gut feeling on this one?.

Although I do think child sex abuse is certainly a problem in the Org. I really don't belive there would be the volume of good quality cases that would stand up in Court. I'm guessing there may be a couple dozen more perhaps 200 -500 million payed out. Shock Horror then a couple decades latter the dubbies have forgotten about it, and life moves on for Wt. I certainly don't think it will get any where near like the Catholic Church but I'm not saying that they are any less culpable.

Like I said before this won't bankrupt them. Will give them a serious head ach but won't bankrupt them. The cost to there reputation would far exceed any settlement. That is what they need to be more worried about. What I can't understand is just how slowly all this information is infiltrating the congregation.

On a Scale of 1 to 10---How Devoted Were You To Being One of Jehovah's Witnesses?
by minimus inas i grew up in the religion, i was a 10. i wanted to be made a "servant" because that was instilled in me from infancy.
i diligently studied ever piece of watchtower literature and defended my religion intensely.. when i got into my 30's, i started to see little cracks in the watchtower's surface but decided to "wait on jehovah".
then i started to research a little more critically and realized i couldn't defend the prophecies, the treatment of people and the hypocrisy that was becoming more obvious, that especially an elder can see.. it was a gradual thing---from a 10 to a zero!.

althought there were brief periods when I was a 10. I think I mostly sat around a 5-8. It was around the time that I got a private reprof, ( something I deeply regret confiding in elders over), that I started looking into the organization via the internet. 9 months later I walked out of the KH for the last time.
