After 60 Years She is Heading Out!
by The Bethelite inif you read my book "new boy" i talked about a girl i met in 1972 at a convention in allentown pa. i fell in love with her at first sight.
however a problem came up a couple of months later, when i met and fell in love with my future wife, debbie.
both women's mothers didn't like me at all (go figure) and it was literally a coin toss between the two women.

Im in a similar situation to this, with regard to my elderly father, so I’m really in two minds. Provided the religion meets the needs of the individual, what’s the best course of action in awakening. Do I press the issue and try to awaken him, or do I leave him as is? I have chosen the latter.
For me it has created a love hate relationship regarding Wt. Nothing would bring me more satisfaction to see it go down in a massive blaze of glory. However, if things do turn for the worst, I hope it can be delayed long enough to out last my lovely Dad. To awaken him at 67 would just send him to an early grave. It occupies him, gives him something to do and a social net work. So for that I’m grateful.
Not being DFed either has made for a much smoother operation in providing care and support for him. I can intermingle with them in the operation of his life.
Well that’s my take, but I’m glade that your friend is happy with her situation in awakening.

I had to submit to a random work place drugs test yesterday, of which I passed. In this country smoking Marijuana / methamphetamine is illegal. The thing that really struck me was that despite the illegal nature of it, was just how prevalent and problem is. For example of the 14 randomly tested, 4 failed. When it become knowledge that testing was taking place a further 6 unexpectedly went home sick. 1 of those 6 was on the testing list and will be tested when he returns to work. So, in other words, in a random sample of 15 workers there were 30% who had drugs in their system. I was talking to my supervisor about this and said luckily for the company they stopped at 15 people because if they had tested everyone it would of literally crippled the company.
The worrying part here is, if this is a reflection of the population at large. What must this be costing in terms of health care and the social issues? What’s this costing where marijuana is legal? To be honest, I wouldn’t of expected the fail rate to be as high as it was, with the profession I’m in. Maybe 1 or 2, but when your at 33% this is quite another level.

PIMI relative complains about convention venue.
by joe134cd ini have just got of the phone with a relative complaining about the convention venue.
as far as my relative is concerned wt can do no wrong, so for him to say what he did it must of been bad.
the venue where the convention was held was described to me as a “tin shed with no air conditioning”.

The venue where the convention was held was described to me as a “tin shed with no air conditioning”. He didn’t know “how the brothers expected anyone to take on any information in such terrible conditions.” What made the situation worse was it was held at the worst possible time in the middle of winter, and in a city that was in the middle of no where. Probably 70% of them would of required traveling.
i was tempted to say, that if he felt the way he did, that he should of walked out. I was also tempted to ask what the cost of the assembly was.
me thinks wt trying to save a buck.

In the Menlo Park KH scandle. They went one step further by saying they were just like the Catholic Church. With a Pope at the top. Incredible

After the death of a spouse, how long did people wait to get remarried?
by RubaDub ini was on the phone with a long-time friend from my original congregation north of new york city and she told me that the 'shit hit the fan' when a brother (long-time elder i know well) got remarried about 6 weeks after his wife died.. he was about 60 and his new wife (a pioneer that i also know) was about 50 and had never been married.. it became a huge issue when the co came.
due to all the talk and chatter in the congregation, he even included in one of his talks without naming names, that marriage is something sacred and that when and how people get married is a personal matter as long as it conforms to bible standards.. anyway, it shut everybody up.
any similar experiences in your current/former congregations?.

6 weeks dose seem a bit of a short grieving process. One dose have wonder if something was perhaps going on before the former wife passed away. I feel it’s a bit disrespectful to the deceased.

LDS membership figures inadvertently supports Wt as been true and accurate

Mormon membership reflects that of the JWs! It not only reflects, but it would verify that Wt statistics are true and accurate. Herein, are my reasons why.
LDS general conference, which is the equivalent of the JW memorial, has an attendance of around 20 million ( that's people, who physically turn up). The church also allows live streaming for those who can't be physically present. However, the people choosing this online option is the unknown in this equation.
Lets now look at 2 different scenarios for LDS general conference to see how this compares to the JWs:
Scenario 1- has a physical attendance of 20 mill, with a further 10 million choosing to view it on line. Therefore, 1/3 attendees were unaccounted for as not being physically present. The total attendance figure of 30 million people.
Scenario 2 - also has a physical attendance of 20 million, with a further 20 million viewing on line. That been 1/2 of the attendees been unaccounted for, due to not been physically there. The total attendance been 40 million people.
Now before we all get carried away, and use this to prove how ineffective the JW preaching work has been because the Mormon's are so much bigger. There are a few things we need to be aware of regarding these totals:
*The 30 and 40 million totals, would be a maximum rather than a minimum. The same could also be said for the 20 mill memorial attendees, been a higher rather than a lower figure. So let's say, for arguments sake, that the total was between the 2 scenarios at 35 million.
*One could also speculate that if the JWs also allowed live streaming of their annual event weather they could produce a similar figure to that of the LDS. This is the unknown in the equation.
*The counting methods, and the definition of what a member is, varies quite widely between the two faiths.
It has been estimated that the activity rates for the Mormon church could be as low as 33%. Therefore, 35 million attendees x 33% = 11.55 million people ,who at the very least, attend LDS church services once a week.
The point is this. when the LDS (11.5 million) is measured against the JW 8.7 average publishers. They are totally in range of each other, and totally logical. This is assuming that there were, in fact, 35 million LDS attendees. If anything, this would lend support that Wt is, in fact, telling the truth about its membership. These are, after all, to groups facing similar problems. The 2.8 million variance can easily be explained away, by the fact, that the Mormon church was established 50 years before Wt. If for example the LDS figure was indeed 11.5 mill, but the JW peak publisher rate was 40 million, one could justifiably have doubts. This just isn't the case.
