Just talking generally here. I have a friend who is a receptionists for a doctor. She was saying that in her time doing the job, one of the big shifts she has seen is the increase in mental health related medications.

I attended an ex-jw meet up a few years back. I was surprised at the amount of women there. That had very troublesome lives, been married to an abusive alcoholic husband.

Elder asks my disfellowshipped cousin to leave house while grieving for his grandmother
by RULES & REGULATIONS infourteen years ago i started a thread on how horrible my disfellowshipped cousin was treated after his mom passed away and the terrible actions on the part of the elders at the funeral home.. 67. horrible conduct by congregation elders at my cousin's funeral.............. well, here we are 14 years later, and things haven't changed!.
my aunt ( who is my disfellowshipped cousin's grandmother ) was placed in home hospice care.
the nurse told her daughters ( who are jehovah's witnesses and live with their mother ) that their mom probably has 2 days left to live and that they should call the immediate family.. my disfellowshipped cousin and his sister show up in the early morning.

I’d love to see that lawyer, David Gnam, lose his law license. Does anybody know if anybody has laid a complaint about him.

Watchtower cashing in on the Hamburg tragedy?
by Listener inthank you very much atlantis for all your hard work and for emailing a letter written by the watchtower (coming from the german branch possibly) to be read out to congregations by elders.. there is so much wrong in this letter.
maybe some of it is due to being lost in translation but since the watchtower is predominantly english, it doesn't seem likely.
the letter is as follows -.

I just wouldn’t be surprised if Wt use this as a publicity stunt.

Prediction of Watchtower in a Few Years
by Foolednomore inkingdom halls will be the thing of the past.. conventions (mini assembly halls will still be going on) but will charge for attending and parking and always a donation.
elders will play a much smaller role since csa.
cart preaching will replace door to door.

Disillusioned JW: I totally agree with you. The questioned raised was “ is watchtower cooking the books regarding membership number.
With regard to Mexico and my country. There can only be two possibilities.
(1) yes they are. In they are under reporting their membership. Well at least when compared to the LDS/ SDA.
(2) As with the Mormon church, JWs are inflating the numbers. Having fewer number in the census that what the church officially stated would indicate an even bigger interest with the general public.
I believe there is a lot of anecdotal evidence to believe the JWs are telling the truth.
(1) all three religions (JWs, LDS,SDA) claim around the 20 million mark.
(2) when comparing self identification in the census to church counts. The JWs seem to be pretty consistent, well at least as far as Mexico and my country go, and have done so for many years.
If there was any hanky panky with Wt. Surly this would eventually have to show up in the census. Even if a person is a hardened atheist but still identifies as a jw.

I have been to a number of different churches since leaving the JWs. From mainstream to some of the more colourful e.g iglasea ni Christo, Christian Science. Looking at things objectively, empty seats, and an ageing membership, is not something specific to the JWs.
I hope you would watch the above link to Mormon stories podcast.
All that I can say based on Mexico and the country I live in. Is that although it’s quite possible for Wt to lie, and I wouldn’t put it past them, the census doesn’t.

Foolednomore: I totally disagree with you. Here is a link to a mormon perspective of membership numbers. It starts at the 1:38 mark.
https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/4801405261447168/comparison-between-jws-lds-sda-mexico
Some interesting statistics. The 2020 census for Mexico stated that there were 1503909 who identified as JW. That same year Watchtower claimed to have a membership of 864689. This report says the JWs have a 177% truthfulness in reporting its membership in Mexico. Compared 23% for the lds and 102% for the SDA. Another thing that isn’t mentioned is that all 3 religions seem to be with in a ball park figure of each other.
I live in a wealthy western country, and the census figure has always been twice that of what watchtower reports. It’s been like that for decades. Although I can only report of 2 different countries, I have anecdotally heard similar reports from various other parts of the world. The point I’m trying to make is that if Wt were cooking the books with 3mill one would expect for this to be exposed in the census, and this is just not the case.
Ok then let’s look at Mexico and my country from a different perspective, and let’s say Wt is cooking the books by 55% e.g 8mill is actually 3mill. Then that would indicate a huge interest by the public, and certainly room for growth. What option would you like to accept?

Balaamsan2 interestingly I have attended a SDA church, and found it to be full of mainly older folk with a lot of empty seats.
I’ve also attended a Christian Science church and found that to be even worse. There were only an handful of attendees in a church that once seated 100.
Both church locations were what I would consider prime realestate.

It wasn’t until I got onto apostate web sights that I fully realised the significance of the over lapping generation. That’s how asleep I was.
